  • It's certainly better than candies ! But many have lots of added sugar, like most dried fruits... no label or brand to look it up ?
  • How about when you record you workout under exercise and eat your exercice calories ? Would you still consider yourself lightly active or even active if you have a desk job ? Said differently, if you have a desk job and workout, do you A) consider your cardio workout when defining your activity level so you don't add it…
  • Since you asked for it.... maybe should you try to replace some of your daily "empty calories" by healthier food. I know you're French, and wine is a casual drink for French, but it contains quite a bit of calories that do add up in a diet when counting calories but provide no tangible health benefits when trying to lose…
  • Some breakfast ideas... How about a slice of toasted bread with peanut butter and a banana, or almond butter and some apple ? Oat meal (du gruau, des flocons d'avoine en bon français :) with cranberries Fruit smoothie with some dessert tofu, of even your protein powder
  • Up to you I'd say, unlesse you lift really eavy weights or do high intensity interval training. Really heavy weights - I'd start with that after stretching/warming up simply to be fresh and strong, so you avoid injuring yourself. HIIT - You always finish with that, because you definitely need to refuel after a HIIT.
  • That's probably accurate ! We didn't get much snow here this winter but I wore my Heart Rate Monitor the one time I had to shovel big time. It turned out I burned an amazing 700 calories during the 2 hours I played in the snow, pretty much similar to what online exercice calories calculators will give for my weight. I…
  • Love Turbo Jam ! You get variety, with 20, 30 and 45 minutes cardio workout, sculpting and abs. It's a little expensive at first but I've been using the DVDs 6 days a week for almost a year now so a pretty good investment in my opinion. Regarding the burn, in depends on the intensity you put into your workout, and your…
  • I get bloated from food that contains sorbitol or if I eat to much fruits that are high in fructose. I probably have what is called "fructose malabsorption" which affects up to 30% of us to different levels. Fructose is not not well absorbed during digestion so it ferments and create the bloating. Someone who cannot digest…
  • How about those soft dessert tofu for the creamier texture ? They are loaded with flavor and protein.
  • I confess a cashew addiction. Have to stop buying them !!!

  • I have a Polar F7. Great little tool !
  • I was just concerned I would do me bad as I am taking a protein shake every morning before my workout (so that bring my daily intake quite high), so I investigated the subject a little bit  I'm not a scientist and can only report on what I've read though... so call it an educated guess, no absolute truth…
  • Too much protein can cause kidney problem. If you eat more then what you body can handle, the remaining is eliminated by the kidneys. Have your kidneys been recently checked ? " High-protein diets like that of the popular Atkins diet may accelerate the loss of kidney function in people with early kidney problems. However,…
  • I'd say both ! Unless you ate a complete meal 2-3 hours before, you should definitely have a little something before you start working out. You really don't want you body to have to break down muscles to get the energy it requires to go through your workout ! I agree though that you can feel bad if you had too much too…
  • I know it is frustrating... But you have to work really hard on your mind and try to relativize the numbers you see on the scale. Right, it can give a pretty good idea of the progress made, but it can also be really missleading since it can move up and down by many pounds on a daily basis, for multiple reasons. Maybe you…
  • I do count it as water ! I just can seem to drink over 40 oz of plain water a day, but I drink an extra 40 in no time if it's flavored.
  • I like to have a peanut butter toast with a banana, a large glass of chocolat milk, a fruit smoothie or an energy granola-bar. Unless you are to eat a full meal soon after, look for a snack that is 200-500 calories. As Arienna said, try to have protein but most important carbs. Chances are you burned all the carbs you had…
  • That is extreme yeah ! I remember trying to follow the diet plan that came along a DVD program I got last year... I felt so awefull, empty, and depressed by the end of the second day, I even strated to cry just looking at the next day's plan ! Computed the cals and it turned out I was barely having 850-900 calories. I…
  • You are most probably losing a little every day but remember it takes 3500 calories to make a pound of fat, so it takes a few days for a loss to really show up on the scale. Having a 600 or 800 calories deficit one day will not be visible on the scale the next day. And there is the water. Drink more and you'll weight more.…
  • Grapefruit naturally helps lowe the bad cholesterol. This is a documented fact and people taking cholesterol-related drugs are actually advised not to eat or drink grapefruit. Can it magically make you lose weight by simply drinking a glass a day ? Not sure about that though, especially if the juice contains added sugar !
  • Daily stress, I think that can cause someone to put on weight if that person sees comfort in food. Real long term stress, body stress, the kind that cause biological response and can lead to burn out, I think it definitely can cause unplanned/unwanted/unexplained weight loss.

  • Is it terrible to go over once in a while ? Nah ! But you don't want to regularily eat more than you need because the body doesn't store protein but eliminates it through the kidneys which can suffer from a diet that contains too much for too long.
  • Wow ! You look fantastic ! Congratulations !!!
  • Amazing ! You look great !!! Congratulations
  • I have what I call "high calories day" about once a week. I kind of zig zag my diet so this high calories day probably isn't doing me bad. Unless this day falls on an event during which it is hard to count calories, I still count and log though. I just allow myself a lot more flexibility and a sweet of fatty extra.
  • Is it possible you're talking about "Ownzone" ? That's a feature you access once you start the HRM for an exercise session. The first few minutes the HRM is working at determining what you ideal heart rate zones are. You have to set you HR Limits settings to Ownzone for it to be in use (as opposed to the Automatic and…
  • Grill pieces of a chicken breast in a tsp of oil in a non stick pan. Keep warm. Using the same pan, cook 1 onion chopped for a about 2 minutes then add 1 zucchini and about 8 dried tomatoes chopped in tiny bits, plusa little bit of garlic, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the chicken back. Add about 1 cup of chicken bouillon…
  • Wow, congratulations girls !!!
