I have had 2 C-sections and a hysterectomy. I got my abs back through gym, insanity and running. I don't do a lot of ab work but make sure I am engaging my core all of the time. Good posture really helps. Donna

Some great advice in both of your posts! I think this is a real struggle for a lot of people - the distorted view we have of ourselves can really play on our minds. One idea that was given to me was to get a before and after photo of yourself and put someone else's head on it so you are seeing someone else. Then think…

No my thyroid function will NOT improve if I cut gluten from my diet. I have an auto immune disease that has completely destroyed it - my thyroid is now smaller than a pea and cutting gluten will not make it grow back to it's normal size and suddenly start working. RA is also an auto immune disease. Pregnancy interfered…

If you're not sure about speed try using a 'perceived level of exertion'. What you do is rate your effort on a 1 - 10 scale with 1 being dead easy and 10 feeling like you're going to die. I would do 20 minutes, 1 minute easy so a 3 or 4 and 1 minute hard so an 8. If you are not sure how to rate your exertion try singing…

I have lost 30kg over the years. I also have no thyroid function and rheumatoid arthritis so do not pay heed to excuses.

I eat carbs and I think my picture speaks for itself in terms of belly fat.

Congratulations on changing your life. You've done a fantastic job! Donna

I put 1/4 cup oats, 6oz plain chobani, chia seeds, LSA and berries into a container, mix it up and leave it in the fridge overnight. I add some cinnamon and banana before serving and that's breakfast done!

Take your Vit D deficiency seriously. Low vit D is linked to auto immune disease. I should know - I have Hashimoto's and Rheumatoid Arthritis. My specialist said they don't what comes first - the auto immune disease or the Vit D deficiency, but they are definitely linked.

I'm pretty confident in the diagnosis. But, my knee is in constant pain. I suspect runner's knee has aggravated my RA. I think I will see an acupuncturist today to see if I can get some relief from the tightness.

I am a very experienced runner and a gym rat. I do squats, single leg deadlifts, lunges and a variety of other leg exercises regularly. I ran a half marathon on the weekend very slowly (I accompanied my daughter) and the physio thinks this has caused it. For the treatment he did some massage and dry needling and then had…

Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straits. It was the first concert we went to and we are still together after 28 years!

I am a PT. I am in good shape now but have been up to 30kgs overweight. I couldn't PT when I was overweight because my standard is to never ask my clients to do something I can't and when I was overweight I wasn't able to do all the things I like my clients to do. I think as PT"s we are selling a message of health and…

Hi Use dumbbells or push up stands for your push ups. This helps enormously. Your planks should be with your arms bent and forearms on the floor with palms flat on the floor. You will not get sore wrists from this. If this is too easy elevate one leg. Donna

Shannon, What a lovely well articulated success story. You are an inspiration to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Thank you for sharing. Donna

Two kids via c section with 30kg gained with each pregnancy and a hysterectomy. There is hope  .

Do you have the Wearlink with the clip on sensor to the strap? If you do you need to unclip it when it is not in use as keeping it clipped will drain the batteries. Check the batteries anyway. Any time mine plays up I wash the strap in the washing machine and if that doesn't work, I change the batteries.

I'm moving to Perth from Victoria in mid July - I'll definitely join in when I'm there! Donna

Try doing a circuit - do a warm up then a weight based exercise and then carido and continue for about 45 mins to an hour. For example: 10 min warm up on treadmill Squats (10 - 12 reps) 90 seconds burpees Squats (10 - 12 reps) 90 sec treadmill (fast) Tricep dips (10 - 12 reps) 90 sec box jumps Tricep dips (10 - 12 reps) 90…

Maybe it's a promotional exercise to get people to buy the newer books - I guess this is the cynic in me!

Cardio and weights are not mutually exclusive. I recommend New Rules of Lifting for Women for a beginner - the program is well set out and you will learn a lot about strength training. The authors are not keen on extra cardio, but when I completed the program I continued to run most days and still achieved good results.…

Vitamin B supplements have helped my fatigue. I work long hours, train hard, run a house but only have a 16 year old left at home. I have been where you are and it does get better. Donna

Well done! You look fantastic. Thanks for sharing your story.

Married for 23 years, together for 28. I started dating my husband at 15 and got married at 20. He is my one and only. We have helped each other become better people over the years. It hasn't all been plain sailing, but we love one another dearly and he has been there for me through thick and thin. We are moving on to a…

Did you have a big training day yesterday or today? I find the day after I have had a big training day I always extra hungry so I will eat a bit more. I try to think of my cals as being for the week so some days I am up and some I am down. Donna
