What I have learned from 1000 days of logging (Part One)
No doubt you will have heard most of this before from others, but it still doesn’t hurt to reflect. What works for me might not work for you This is probably the biggest thing I have learned, not only from MFP, but from my 25 plus years of experience in the fitness industry. For me, I cannot go low carb. It leads me to…

What I have learned from 1000 days of logging (Part 2)
Do this for yourself – not someone else or some big life event If you do this for someone else you’ll never really embrace the change because you don’t own it. The choice to change has to be your own, not anyone else’s. And if you want to lose weight for some big event, chances are once that event has been and gone, you’ll…

Intermittent Fasting with Thyroid Issues
Has anyone got any feedback on IF with thyroid problems? I have Hashimoto's and looked into body recomposition but it is not recommended for those with thyroid problems and I was wondering if it was the same for IF. Thanks, Donna

Which activity tracker???
Alright friends, I am looking at getting an activity tracker as I am sitting on my bum too much at work and need to fix this. I am looking at a Fitbit Flex (Force have been taken off the market), Jawbone, Polar or Garmin tracker. My thoughts are not to use it while I exercise - just stick to using my HRM, although if I…

5:2 Fasting
Hi I am starting the 5:2 way of eating, with my first fast day tomorrow to try and help with the low dose chemo I have to have. I am looking for ideas on how to break up that 500 cals for the day. I realise I am going to have to play around with it to see what works for me, but any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Donna

Protein and kidneys
Hi All, I recently increased my protein intake - trying to get over 100g per day. I have a medical condition and the medication I am taking for it requires testing every four weeks for liver and kidney function, amongst other things. My last test result showed my kidneys were having some issues and the doctor asked about…

Rheumatoid Arthritis
Hi I am not sure where this post belongs. Here will do. I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and am in a pretty bad place right now with hands that hurt even just typing, one knee that is 3 times its usual size and feet that are painful to walk on. I have a specialists appointment next week and will hopefully…

Replacing exercises?
Hi, I have just started NROL4W and have quite a bit of trouble with my knees. I did the leg exercises prescribed yesterday but I am not sure how I will go lifting the weights. Has anyone else replaced any of the exercises due to their own body limitations? I was thinking of doing leg extensions, curls and presses which I…

Is stress making you fat?
An interesting article that appeared in the paper recently. You know the feeling - you have a zillion things to do and you feel as if your head is about to explode. Suddenly, a sweet treat or a glass of sav blanc is all you want, but at what cost? Whether it is the extra wine you find yourself drinking in the evening to…

Logging on holidays
I am heading to Hawaii on Wednesday for 2 weeks and was wondering what others do about logging while away? I intend to keep at it, taking advantage of free WiFi wherever I can (I'm from Australia so it's international otherwise). I always keep exercising when I am away as there is no better way to explore a new place than…

Hi, I just need to get this off my conscience and be accountable. I have been on a work trip for the last couple of days and what a major blow out! I am sooooo disappointed in myself. I should have walked away, but no, I kept eating... At least I ran this morning! Anyway, tomorrow is a new day and I am back home and back…

Help wth snacking while preparing dinner
Hi All, No matter what I seem to do, once I get home from work and start preparing dinner, my brain says I am starving! It does not matter if I ate just before I left work or if I ate at 3pm, I really struggle not to eat anything while I am preparing dinner. Any hints to make this easier? Thanks, Donna

Hi
Just wanted to say hi! I started yesterday. It is amazing to see how many calories I eat each day and how much is in everything. I am 41, only have a bit to lose (before there is too much damage), am a mum to 2 teenage girls and work full time as a manager. I love running and am doing the Melbourne half next weekend. I do…
