I have had RA for about 7 years now. I'm on methotrexate and humira. It's a *kitten* disease. I find if I don't keep moving with exercise, I stiffen up and the mornings get harder. I eat a generally healthy diet, with mostly fresh, unprocessed foods. I tried GF but that didn't help and I don't have a lot of sugar so I'm…

Just wanted to say hi! Still only on C1 so a way to go yet. I've been tracking as I'm very curious about the macros. Makes for interesting viewing. I'm doing my own thing with the workouts - still HIIT principles but with weights incorporated. I didn't want to lose all my hard work. I'm tracking my journey on Instagram if…

All of the above. Another reason the fat-burning zone is not effective in the long run is because it does not take into account your "afterburn". A high intensity workout will give a higher overall burn as your metabolism will stay elevated for a period of time after you finish working out, effectively burning more…

Caught up!

55 done today - after 100 kettlebell swings (ouch!). Still owe 50 for yesterday - saw the challenge too late. I should get those in this afternoon.

OK I'm in.

Look up exercises for Achilles tendonitis. You need to do heel raises to help strengthen the Achilles. Take it seriously - an Achilles injury is a real pain. I had a partial tear a few years ago and it was no fun!

I got my up today. Not sue how to add anyone yet, but my email is donnalee.marino@gmail.com Feel free to add me. I am a runner and regular gym goer. Donna

Honestly I would get a good HRM like a Polar. No method is absolutely perfect but I can tell you MFP is way over on it's estimations. As someone else said, it will help you measure your recovery too in terms of your HR. As your fitness increases your recovery time should get shorter. I use my HRM (Polar) or my Garmin (with…

I had a terrible blow out last week. This week I am not going to do that! I am aiming to get to the gym every day, ultra fit 2 to 3 times and to run at lunchtime 3 days this week. With my nutrition, I would like to pay a bit more attention to those macros I think and not eat more than average of 1700 - 1900 a day,…

Interested - I suffer from RA and have been considering this as an option.

I did yoga today - does that count?! I'll be going back next week for sure. Even though I am doing this without any real goals it is keeping me motivated to do the right thing - most of the time anyway. Thanks so much Skim. Donna

Hi I'm Donna and I am from Perth. Up until 7 months ago I was from Gippsland in Victoria. I don't have any goals in relation to losing weight or size. I'm OK with where I am most of the time (going through a patch of thinking I'm huge at the moment but I KNOW it is not true). I am 167cm tall, weigh b/w 57 - 59kg and am…

Most of your success is about diet anyway so if you have healthy food concentrate on creating tasty, healthy meals. Try and sneak in some small workouts. There are plenty on the internet - remember a short workout is better than no workout. I've heard of people doing squats every time they go to the loo, doing push ups or…

You look fabulous!!

Just like it doesn't take one day to get skinny, it doesn't take one day to put on weight  . It is what you do over time that influences your weight. Try to have some balance and allow yourself to have some of the foods you enjoy that way losing weight won't seem so hard. Donna

Still logging after almost 2 years. At goal but still like the accountability. Always happy to have new friends.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia unfortunately, but I always run on Christmas morning - does that make me a douche?

That there is way too much incorrect information and far too many people fall pray to the 'quick fix'. There really is no magic bullet - eat less, move more and get rest. And that you can make friends in the online world

Your transformation is as amazing as any I have seen. I have watched my daughter battle anorexia and now she's battling bulimia. It is an insidious disease and congratulations to you for coming out on top. Donna

I have done 4 marathons and countless halves. I would not advise running a marathon within a year of starting running. You need to take time to build a base. You should only be increasing your total miles for each week by 10%. This is the recommended amount to avoid injury, so if you do 20 miles in total this week, next…

Is this new - how long have you been running early in the morning? This takes some getting used to. I have been doing it for years and at the start I was hungry, but I worked out it was because I was tired. I adjusted my bed time to get some extra sleep and as I got used to the early starts, the hunger subsided. The thing…

Your VO2MAX is calculated to be 49 and your estimated "fitness age" is younger than 20 Real age is 44

This. At your height you cannot be a healthy 100lbs.

Cardio and weights are not mutually exclusive. Both are beneficial for different reasons. Cardio is excellent for heart health and increasing your VO2 max and weights are great for gaining muscle and, as someone else pointed out, maintaining bone density. For me a mix of both is ideal, but it does depend on your goals.…
