  • Do you always feel tired even on recovery days? Are you varying distances? Are you trying to go at the same pace all the time? Do you feel tired the whole time? Is it more than just being tired? Because you should feel tired towards the end of a run. For cross country, we ran after school and many times I was already worn…
  • I did cross country for two years and I usually would average a minute or two above thirty minutes my second year of cross country. But that also isn't representative of regular 5ks because it has so many steep hills and many times almost half the race. The point is either way I was a slow runner to people in cross…
  • I would say not doing the same route every day and not doing the same mileage which is really hard in the beginning since you aren't running that far. Try to find what motivates you to keep running that run but also what keeps you motivated to keep coming back. I have different points in the run after I've been running for…
  • Well for one I'm a runner and having a stronger core will help me run faster which you get a lot of strength from your core because it will help improve balance and it helps to make the back stronger which I read somewhere that it will help to increase flexibility. Overall, I believe it is one of the most important things…
  • 5/01-125.2 Exercise log: walked 7/10 of a mile
  • I'm actually going into college next year. I'd say try to stay away from pasta, rice, bread, etc. Try to find fruit and vegetables. I'd also say if you have a refrigerator in your room keep greek yoghurt or eggs/egg whites or snacks with high protein and also maybe keep fruit in your room. Try to eat chicken or fish and if…
  • Smaller meals but more meals so like 5 small meals a day.
  • Here are basic things. Drink water since you don't really want to drink your calories. Try to not eat much pasta, bread, rice, etc. Eat beans, vegetables but not starchy vegetables like potatoes. Salads but a less calorie dressing or no dressing. Try to find foods that have more protein. Jump roping burns a lot of calories…
  • Starting each workout whatever it is, is the hardest part for me. I usually have to have more than a force that is just me. Sometimes, I do force myself or the enjoyment keeps me going but a lot of the time if others are counting on me like with cross country I felt like I had a commitment to go to practice so maybe try to…
  • Hi, I'd like to join. SW: 125.8 CW: 125.8 GW: 115 Goals this month: To get back into running, to not eat that much bread, pasta, increase core strength I don't know if you actually want me to log in my exercise for today. If you do, I will edit it plus I don't know if you wanted my start weight already either.
  • BMI is flawed in many ways but I do agree that for the average person it is a good indication but not something to go by. I mean my BMI is 21.3 but I have a slightly above average body composition but I'm well within the normal BMI and that's bad too. So BMI is not nearly as important as body composition. I also agree with…
  • It's because you're looking at distance and not duration. I mean who would take basically 2 hours to walk a mile. But in that 2 hours, you could have walked over 6 miles and be at 4236 KJ. Also, it's higher because there is a point where it's so slow that even though you are burning less calories/minute the minutes…
  • I'd just like to reply by saying my experience. We had done summer training for three months and the second week of the season for cross country I took a really bad fall. I was out essentially for three weeks and tried to go back. The coach wanted me to do two miles the first day I was back. I was in a lot of pain and…
  • I think it's because everything is slightly different and uses different muscles. One person said on another discussion board before the only way you would lose fat and muscle would be running like 100 miles a week and I think their opinion is correct in that sense. They compared sprinters to marathoners because their body…
  • I agree with the person above me, but I'd also like to say that it depends on how you land because some people wear out shoes faster that way.
  • If you need any flexibility exercises, some are IT band stretch, sit and reach, piriformis, iliopsoas stretch, hip flexor, and standing glute stretch. Also, I would warn you about using KT tape because my teacher who is a trainer says it's good when used correctly and 4/5 people will use it when they shouldn't and it won't…
  • There is only one thing that every guy had that I was attracted to which was that they were intelligent in some way. Other than that, I really don't have a type.
  • I'm either 5'2 or 5'3 because it is never the same so he'd have to be really short. But yeah I've never cared about physical aspects of people only personality since physical attraction usually follows if I'm attracted to his personality.
  • What are you drinking? Also, it's good try to have 50% of your diet be carbohydrates, 15% protein, and no more than 35% fat. A lot of people eat too many carbs like 60-65% but that's basically for athletes usually runners and cyclists. Also, exercise? You also should maybe try to eat more meals but smaller meals like 6…
  • I forgot to mention that I was 5'3.
  • I don't think you need to lose any weight. You're like at the lowest point for healthy weight. Any more weight, you'd likely be underweight. My goal is like between 105-110 only because I'm a cross country runner and that seems kind of low. Normally, I would be slightly higher.
  • It was first my face, then everything else, and I don't actually even know if I've lost weight in my thighs. Knowing me, I probably gained muscle in my thighs from running hills for cross country so they look the same.
  • I feel like the topic of joint pain due to running is controversial in that it can't be said that it's good or bad for everyone. I think it really depends on the person and prior pain and mileage and all that because I have heard people say it helps alleviate and lessen joint pain through the whole day and then there are…
  • My main reason is that I'm a cross country runner and wanted to lose weight to get better times for races plus the obvious that I wanted to look better.
  • I'm also Asian and a senior in high school. I'm about 5'3" and my goal was 105-110 pounds which is still a healthy BMI but really at the lowest end because I'm a cross country runner and runners usually are at the lower end to get better times. So normally, people are more in the middle for the healthy range so really…
