HA!!! Brilliant, just brilliant!! I hate all those same things!!! I`ve got two to add: I hate it when the swimmer in front of you is slower than you and the swimmer behind you is faster than you. I hate it when someone who thinks they know how to swim uses paddles and fins to impress.

Great sources if inspiration. Thanks for sharing!!

Well put. Nothing extreme is good for your body. May produce short term results you are looking for, but they won't last. Moderation is the key to lasting change.

Do you know what triggers him to stop eating? Not easy to figure out I know. Are there consistencies in any of the foods he tends to eat ie: texture (mushy, crunchy), taste (sweet, salty), colour - this could help you select some new foods for him. Given that your son is 18, you know him very well and have probably done a…

It IS beautiful out! A winter wonderland! Glad I put my car in the garage last night. Good day to go to the pool - there probably won't be many people there!!

Great post! How timely for me!

Hi and welcome. Feel free to add me as a friend if you like. I have a 12yo son with Aspergers, ADHD and sensory issues.

Cut it in half, put a little soy sauce in each half and eat with a spoon. Tastes like sushi! YUM!

Oh, two more very good books I would put at the top of the list: The Out of Sync Child and The Out of Sync Child Has Fun - both by Carol Stock Kranowitz. These were both fabulous!

Great that you are getting some help! You need some respite!! A weighted blanket was extremely helpful for my son - it would help him fall asleep at night. I would highly recommend one if your son needs deep pressure. The other thing I did that he loved was to sit on the floor, I'd clear a big space, roll him in a blanket…

I use the Garmin Swim watch and love it. http://sites.garmin.com/swim/ Counts laps, stroke recognition, interval timing - lots of other great features. I would highly recommend it.

LOL Kim, I`m with you on the running thing. I can swim 5k no problem, but no way could I ever run it! Great that your back in the pool!

Agree with Flab2fit - these are meltdowns, not tantrums. Your son cannot control them. My son who has ASD had many many many meltdowns as a child. Took a while to figure out he had autism (Aspergers) and had some major sensory issues. Sensitive to light, unexpected noises, invasion of personal space, labels in clothes,…

My sentiments exactly. Peace, lol.

Just one cup a day (Starbucks of course) with a splash of milk = 20 calories, so it's easy to fit in :)

Swimming has been the answer for me. I started off just swimming 2 lengths (50m) breast stroke - I would be out of breath and would have a flare up afterwards. I kept it up, letting my body rest for one day and swimming the next. I started almost a year ago, and can now swim 5k (200 laps) of freestyle, only stopping to get…

When I opened the bathing suit I ordered on line and in the package were free samples of chafing cream!

Wow, what a difference! Thanks for your courage and the motivation. You rock!

Feel free to add me. Just turned 50, have been on MFP since may 2012, lost 40 lbs.
-
Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'm going to pass on this for now - sounds like it will give me more trouble than motivation.
-
I'm with you 100%. I've lost 40lbs and still drink wine and eat the occasional not so healthy meal. Feel free to add me :)

I am struggling with the same problem, and haven't found a solution yet! I've tried on speedo and Nike racerbacks and they do not accommodate large breasts. They look and feel rediculous. I am thinking I have to try the racerbacks with "shelves" for bigger breasted women, but I don't know if they make them in regular sizes…

I so the same thing as aotea, soak my hair with fresh water before putting on my cap and wash my hair immediately afterwards. I find it works well. I do however use special shampoo for chlorine only because my hair is short and there are strands at the back that stick out of the cap and they are like straw so I'm hoping…

If I swim 3K (120 laps) I burn around 600 calories. Depends on your weight. I have a Garmin Swim watch that tracks distance and calories burned.
-
Just try to remember why you started this, and how difficult it would be to have to start over. You owe it to yourself to stay on track my friend! Give it your best effort
