  • I am really sad about this but I have found it to be exactly true lol. Those "treat" things and quick grab snacks I figure it's okay to budget for calorie wise really seem to just give me the MUNCHIES. Really sad! There's just no short cuts. But I'm starting with small swaps, I will get there.
  • Thank you for this!! Going to be my new desktop background!!
  • Looking for more support in this area too. I have been working a fitness/nutrition plan for about 6 weeks with coaches, but I'm still really struggling. I've made some good choices habit, but the emotional comfort factor when I'm stressed or want to "unwind" is really sabotaging my progress. Love MFP so far :)
  • Awesome way to look at it!! Something I really needed as I'm looking down the long road to the "finish line".
  • I'm trying to change the way I eat but in a realistic way, so complete overhaul isn't the way I'm going. I have tried to be more generally mindful of how I'm feeling before I eat something, immediately after then a few hours after. Doing that I have identified some foods that don't at all fill me up and make me crave…
  • This is a big one for me. We have been trying off and on for a couple of years and it's been causing me emotional upheaval ... which ended with even more weight gain. So if anything I'm less prepared now than I was when I got married two years ago!! Seeking to switch back to forward motion and get healthy!
  • Just saw this (no notifications sucks!) - are you in Michigan? I'm in the lower peninsula but my heart lives on Mackinac Island where I spent four summers in my early 20's. Hope you had a relaxing trip and get to enjoy your fourth of July.
  • Welcome! I'm pretty new too but I've already added some great friends with "a long way to go" also. They are great sounding boards, motivators and idea givers. So that's what I'd suggest, find some folks that "speak your language". :)
  • I have been researching this, too lately. Unfortunately for me, there isn't much way around preparing everything yourself! lol But if you are like me, not a great cook and/or busy :), start with small swaps. Look at your diary and pick one thing you can find a low sodium substitute. This week I packed swiss cheese as a…
  • I know the feeling :( It's so hard to get energy back after something stressful. Advice that I was given recently is to a) give yourself a break - don't beat yourself up and b) start with small goals. If you don't feel up to doing a full workout, start with a walk or something else. That way getting "back on track" doesn't…
  • I heard a great analogy the other day: If you got a speeding ticket you wouldn't go around speeding like crazy because "Screw it, I already got a ticket" So take responsibility for your ticket and be more careful around those trouble areas. And you are doing the right thing by reaching out. I myself am on my way back from…
