  • I just found a recipe for real ice cream that uses gelatin, so I'm going to try the recipe with agar and other substitutes in a couple if days. http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/chocolate_cookie_walnut_crunch_ice_cream.html Once I polish off what I made yesterday, I'm giving this a try. Minus the nuts and cookies (just in…
  • I'm on Keto, more restricted (I think) than paleo and atkins. I consider fake foods being those with added chemicals and whatnot. Those atkins bars especially. The food I make is absolutely real, using real ingredients. One of my cookies is 100% more filling than a regular flour cookie, as is my bread. It's also more…
  • Yesterday was a very summery Sunday. Without fruits and ice cream, it just isn't the same. My supermarket has Carb Smart and Blue Bunny (supposedly low carb friendly ice creams). I decided to attempt my own. I used an avocado, unsweetened almond milk, unsweetened cocoa powder and Truvia in a blender. It turned out more…
  • I started putting my recipes in the blog section. I'm pretty sure it's public. I also added pictures there. Have a look if you'd like. All my recipes will be low/no carb, at least for the next few months.
  • I'm on Keto, and my intake is 10g of net carbs. When I first started, I was shocked at all the food that had sugar. Milk (low fat is the worst), mozzarella cheese, cottage cheese, soy sauce... almost everything. So I tip-toe around those foods, do a lot of label reading and nutritional google-ing. See my diary if you wish.…

  • Dmwiseman, I was never a chocolate lover, but started eating more of it in recent months. I chose 85% lindt, and it was good. Now I get 99% and my brain fools me into thinking it's a bit sweet. You can also create better snack for yourself. Then you'll feel good when you're eating something yummy.
  • I had to look it up when i first saw it. It's just something to type in so that 1. the discussion is saved in your recent topics but you have nothing to add. 2. It brings the topic to the top of the list because it just got a response. But I saw someone type in Dump, and I think I prefer that one now.
  • You can do dips of a chair. Lunges while you walk up to customs or to the bathroom. That's just funny to think about. You can even giggle to yourself while you do it.
  • I thought I was done, but now my brain is going full force. It may sound like Atkins. However, I'd like to point out several things. Dr. Atkins (was he a doctor?) made way for diets like Keto and Primal and Paleo. But they are all distinctly different. There are no products made from things you can't pronounce that you…
  • For Keto my caloric intake comes from 65% fat, 30%protein and 5% from carbs. BUT, carbs are everywhere!!! So, I definitely had to get creative. I discovered a lot of foods that I wouldn't have otherwise. Miracle Noodles are the closest you'll get to eating air. Zero everything. They are made of soluble plant fiber called…
  • My challenge is to complete INSANITY. My challenge is currently collecting dust. I watched the fit test and was sweating. I'll start it June 22nd. The results should be interesting.
  • I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'M slightly overweight. That's a first. Just checked today and my BMI is 26, my BF is also 26%. My goal is to decrease the BF to about 23-20. I'm all about recipes. I've changed my attitude toward food a long time ago, but now I'm creatively working on a Ketogenic lifestyle. It…
  • I'm adding you!. I eat like a caveman too! Well, sort of, I'm on Ketogenic. Goooo meat!
  • After I posted that, I went on a hunt and found the script. But, I couldn't figure out how to install it for Firefox. I'll have a friend do it for me. Can't wait. I've been following my P F C and F and just doing the math at the end of the day. Can't wait until I get it working. It'll be the closest thing I'm having to…
  • Funna that you say that... mine is as if I've been eating asparagus all day long. I've embraced it hehehe. Keto pee is all in a day's work.
  • Hahaha me too!
  • Been on here for 2 weeks and it's sucks by yourself. I think my friends and family are starting to get annoyed with all the food/calorie/macro/carb/BF talk. Add me if you wish.
  • I love the subject line (yes, I did clap my hands). We will always be fatties at heart. That's how we can relate, because we've been there.
  • To each his own burger
  • If you're big on meat, look into Keto. More fat/meat. As with anything else, you must still count your calories. They just come from different foods. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=132598293 Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
  • I was explaining this same concept to a co-worker who was commenting on my weight loss. She was full of excuses. So I told her to just count what she eats on a regular day, just to see. Anyone who does this will (or should) pause and have the same realization: It's that many? I'll eat half, or I'll substitute something.…
  • I'm at about week 3. 65/30/5. It wasn't difficult for me because I've gradually stopped eating processed foods, carbs, and have started using Truvia, which is only partially digested in your large intestine. Now, I'm trying Stevia (which is really nasty on it's own, but not bad with coffee). I didn't get keto flu, lucky…
  • Not exactly, each burger is 8-10 carbs depending on the size of each veggie. It's ok if your goal is less than 100, not ok if your goal is less than 10. You can cut the carbs by using almond meal, which has fewer carbs, or flax meal which has zero instead of crumbs. Sub a green pepper for the red (use half). Half of the…
  • How did you change the setting for the ratio? I haven't seen that option. Also, from what I've read/heard the ratio should be 65/30/5. On MFP, I monitor cal, F, P C and Fiber because there isn't an option for net carbs. At the end of the say, I just subtract fiber from carbs and get my net. My intakes, as shown by that…
  • Try this calculator. It'll help with your marcos. http://www.phlaunt.com/lowcarb/DietMakeupCalc.php
  • Net is what you're looking for. Fiber flushes out and doesn't count. My average is under 10, but on some days I may have 15. As far as the person no losing weight if they consume over 50, the goal of keto is not to drop lbs as much as body fat. Keto strips, as many say, aren't very reliable. Some people think their goal is…
  • These are my stats before I started Keto. 7 point w caliper measurement. Subsequent BF measurements might be off since I'll be using an analyzer, which isn't as consistent/reliable. June 22nd, I'll have another 7pt measure. 05/22/12 BF 27.36% 173lbs 47.34 lbs BF 125.66lbs LBM 6/9/12 BF 26.9% 163 43.8lbs BF 119lbs LBM :(
  • I don't see a recipe with white sauce. Which do you mean?
  • I made this alfredo sauce the other day. It's perfect for the Keto-er who has a large calorie bank. High fat, mod protein, zero carbs. I, unfortunately, can only have about 1/8 cup because 1/4 would be a whole meal for me calorie wise. The recipe totals are 2929 cal, 277F, 48 P (2 carbs if you add two cloves of garlic),…
  • I microwave food to reheat. But I'm wary of actually cooking something in it. I found this recipe... I just can't take that first leap, but I thought I'd share it with you all. It's for a flax cup muffin. If you want zero carbs, omit the cinnamon. It got great reviews, so if you try it, let us know how it came out.…
