Yes! Why not meet him half way. But don't start the conversation with, "why haven't you texted me."

I hate to say this, but we've trained them well to know that they don't have to hold up their end of the marriage bargain. I made my husband buy the gifts for his family over the winter holidays. It's our new tradition.

Try asking your partner to use myfitnesspal for one week to log his own food. Then review it with him and show him how his eating sabotages your own efforts to get healthy. Then ask him if he wants you to be more fit and healthy and he can commit to helping you by changing his own eating habits and exercising with you (if…

I'd track, but not necessarily the same way you normally track. First, I would make sure to stick to fairly low-calorie foods for two meals out of every day and let myself splurge on the third (I travel a lot for work and do this for one day on each trip--the splurge part.) Then, to track, I would keep a written food diary…

I understand the tumble from the wagon. When I start gaining, I go to the scale every two days--it's too frustrating for me to wait a week because if I gain more in that week, then I'm really down and figure what's the damned point (but that's me). Getting healthy means putting ourselves first--even before ourselves,…

Yes, "fattism" is alive and doing far too well. I travel a lot for my job. Yes, I know it sucks to be stuck in the middle seat next to me. You know what, it sucks even more to be me wedged into a small seat designed for a child's butt. Then, there are the stares and glares. And now it's working its way into the official…

I'm in this boat, too, and looking to find inspiration again--and maybe some folks who understand some if the frustrations, too.

You need to do this to be healthy. Others in your life need time to adjust to the new you. They may worry that with the changes you've made that they will be left behind. Or the may feel jealous. If you can sit down with them and get to the bottom of their concerns while sharing why you have to make healthier choices so…

I'm in this boat, and hired a personal trainer in December to help keep me accountable and to help me be more efficient when working out--and for motivation. It's hard to tell her when I haven't been working out or eating right, so it's easier to just do it, right? Happy to find a group of others in the same situation. Now…

I have the same motivation problem. This past year, I lost 40 pounds (still have 130 to go), but mid-year I lost motivation, gained 6 pounds back (I am proud I kept most of it off) and have not been able to start again. I need someone else to hold me accountable. So, I'm doing that now and meet with a personal trainer…

Why are you switching? I switched because I am lactose intolerant and the way that milk makes me feel is not worth it--but then I never really liked milk in the first place. I also don't eat cereal very often because most of them are loaded with simple carbs and sugars. But, sometimes I will allow myself a bowl of shredded…

We grill it on a charcoal grill. LOVE it that way. Toss it with a little grapeseed or olive oil as already described then toss it on the grill until just charred and soft. You can also sprinkle spice blends on it--one of my favorite blends is a chili-lime blend. We use no-salt blends. Grilling or roasting it really does…

Only eat more if you're still hungry, and if you are, eat something full of fiber and low or no fat: apple, berries, salad with fat free dressing, etc. I have been advised that it's not necessary or even beneficial to eat exercise calories unless you really and regularly have big defecits. So, short answer, don't bother…

Why do you want to do this? Do you have long term goals for health and well-being? Do you have family that you want to make sure you're there for? Do you want to fit into a certain size? Do you want to run a marathon or compete in a triathlon or hike a strenuous trail? Answer that question--truly, deeply think about…

Truthfully? More veggies. Try roasted cauliflower (you won't know it's cauliflower from the taste). Core a cauliflower and cut up into small pieces--each about the size of a 50-cent piece. Toss with olive oil (or your oil of choice) and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Spread on a cookie sheet and roast at 400-degrees for 15…

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll make a crisp with blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and the rhubarb with a little stevia.

We really need more information than that to tell how many pieces equal 4 oz. Are you buying a whole chicken or breasts or thighs? How much does the package say is in it--as in ounces. Take the total weight of the package (in oz.) and divide by four. That will tell you how many servings are in it and from there you can…

Mine is 1500 mg a day. The CDC is likely to recommend this as the new daily limit since 2500 is too high for most people and exposes more of us to high blood pressure.

I'm lactose intolerant, but I can still eat some dairy occasionally--not milk, though--and I tolerate goat and sheep cheeses just fine. But, I don't eat them often on my eating plan. I use Almond milk most often, but you will want to play around and find what you like best. There's hazelnut milk, coconut milk, rice milk,…

Unless it's a food I've entered or am familiar enough with to know what the counts should look like, I try to use the counts on the MFP database rather than those entered by individuals. I also go to www.calorieking.com to double check things sometimes as well as the nutrition data site that someone else posted.

I think what you eat earlier in the day makes a lot of difference when it comes to how hungry you are at dinner. Try eating more slowly-digested fiber at lunch (brown rice, wheatberries, quinoa, oats). Then, before you make dinner eat a 100 calorie portion of soup or a high-fiber snack (remember to count this) and drink…

Here's one trick that may help. Freeze the food you crave in 1/2 portions. Then, when you first have the craving wait for 15 minutes. If you still crave it after 15 minutes, think about the fact that you have to wait to eat it until it thaws. Then, if it's worth the wait, take it out of the freezer and put it somewhere…
