That it is good word, Julie. It is so easy to slip at a holiday! A lot of our successes with holidays come from what we bring to the table with us... a plan to eat well and to enjoy the flavors and the gathering more than quantities. We can also decide that the dishes we bring will be healthy ones, maybe new recipes - with…

I find I drink lots of water when I brew an herbal tea by the pot. My favorites are a combo of Lipton regular tea and apple-cinnamon (Celestial Seasons) , and pomegranate tea (TeekAnne brand). Just enough flavor and no need for sweetening. And even when it is cold, I drink it and still enjoy it. The added benefit, too, are…

Hi Sue, Really glad to see you here! I too have been struggling so you are not alone. Prayer really does work, and being part of the group is motivational. Keep posting and recording your eating and exercise - don't worry about the numbers and items and amounts being perfect, do the best you can. It will make a…

Elayne, it turns out their are discontinuing the Fit bit Ultra at the end of October - hence the sale price I paid! It requires the base in order to sync, a lesson I learned on this trip - I did over 10000 steps yesterday but it wont get recorded as I did not pack the base (I should have thought of that, that it needs some…

Today was a good day eating wise, and I even resisted, just now, buying chocolates to snack on in y hotel room. Elayne, yes we'd love to have those women join us!

Thanks Elayne! I hope to try it this weekend.

Hello Nell, yes we'd love to have you join us! NED stands for New England District of the Church of the Nazarene. Is the Intermountain District a COTN district? IN any event, glad to have you with us! blessings, Marian

Elayne, I would like that crustless pumpkin pie recipe :) Interesting post. It brings to mind Suzanna Wesley's principal of that which leads you away from God is sin (or words along those lines; I'd check but I have to catch a plane). So i think the way I normally (normal for me) handle food can border on 'evil', certainly…

Elayne, I really enjoyed reading your post. Yes, WW is good in many ways except for the way it counts for special diets - it is not really geared to that. I think they are working on that. Mark Hyman's "The Blood Sugar Solution" does address this gap in his planning. http://www.bloodsugarsolution.com/ and there are other…

HI, I'd like to lose 100 pounds and have 2 towards that goal. so I'll jump in here every now and then. I was in a group for losing 60 pounds but it looks like it has gone dormant - tonight I was talking to myself in there :))) I've made a point of tracking food every day for the past 10 days, even when i have to go back…

I gotta start (again) somewhere, this is as good a start as any!

Ultimately it is always calories in, calories out that determine weight loss. Working out should increase muscle and therefore metabolism so you'll burn calories anyway. But don't eat all the ones you've worked off if you want to really lose.

I need to lose at least 60 and have yo-yo'd. I am also looking for compatriots in this - thanks for starting this group!
