I'm training for a half marathon, I hate to quit already!

Ha! No not trying to podium anything! I'm a stay at home mom to three kids- the cutie in my picture is turning five next month and new baby is almost 1!) And I just feel like I never do anything for myself so am looking for a goal to strive for to bring some feeling of accomplishment to my life. As for childcare- I'm…

Thank you everyone! I should have included the "when" part- I found a race November 1 which is 16 weeks away. There's a 10k in September, maybe I'll try to aim for that first. Is it best to use training methods that use distance or time? Meaning, today I run an hour vs today I run 5 miles?

I'm having this exact issue! I'm on week three of bring serious about this and cannot meet my protein goal- am averaging about 12-15% protein which isn't enough especially since I'm breastfeeding! All of the foods i normaly eat that have high protein also have high fat so my far % is 30%+! I think i might need to add…

thanks again everybody! I had my Ob appt this morning (24 weeks) and once again discussed at length the fact that I'm REALLY trying, and it's not going well. She was super sympathetic, said I'm doing all the right things, that some people's body's just gain more weight and that I should really just try not to stress. I'm…

my 5yr old is Isla (pronounced Eye-la) and she always gets compliments on her name. I'm pretty annoyed at myself that we named her a tricky-to-spell-and-pronounce name, but what are you going to do? haha! I also have always loved Cleo but my husband never did.

Thank you so much to those who have responded! It makes me feel a lot better. I really wish I could relax about this and just enjoy my pregnancy, but I feel like when I relax, don't track calories, don't weigh myself, I end up gaining huge amounts (though....*head scratching*...I'm gaining a lot when I AM stressing about…

Congrats on your pregnancy! Cramping is normal in most all stages of pregnancy. As long as you aren't spotting you should try not to worry. That uterus has a lot of growing to do and it doesn't always feel comfortable. Good luck!

I could have written this post (actually I've written one very similar!) I gained 20lbs in 20 weeks by sometimes logging on MFP but in general trying to be good. After 20 weeks I got a little disgusted so started tracking 100% and upped my exercising, lowered my calories to 2,000 vs the 2,300 that MFP had set me at for…

Good for you!! We are in similar boats (just sent you a friend request!) I'm 21 weeks, due July 19th. I gained 20lbs in 20weeks and decided enough was enough. I have MFP set to 2000 cals now, which is I think "lose .5lbs a week" - my OB said it was ok, and I was obviously gaining plenty with the 2300 cals I had it set to…

good luck!! I just looked online and there's a Maple Run in town May 4th, I think that would be a nice time of year. I'd be...what...yikes 28 weeks by then? Will make for a good story for baby boy ;-)

I would def go slow and aim to finish the race, rather than aiming for a speed goal.

I'm 20 weeks and still doing this and Ripped in 30 a couple/three times per week. I honestly haven't made any modifications yet, though am keeping it at level one and I will take quick rest breaks if I need them. I use 5lb weights. I find Ripped in 30 more challenging, but I get through the workout fairly easily - though…

thanks ladies you are making me feel a lot better! And LOL I think I've gained at least 5lbs a boob too - they are ginormous this time! Just got on the scale - yup, up 3 freaking pounds since eating that chinese food. Niice.

Yeah I was overweight when I got pg too. After baby #2 I lost 40+ and was down to 169 at my lowest (which was pretty great for my body type even though it was at the very highest end of normal BMI) But over this past year I gained back quite a lot so started at 186, which was still 10lbs less than with baby #1 and 30lbs…

We raised sheep for 8 years and we used to take the placenta away before they tried to eat it because they would often choke on it!
-
My last baby was 10lbs and I had lost a solid 25lbs in a week or so. It was similar with my 2st baby (she was 9lbs1oz) and I lost at least 20 right away. I would love to only gain 25-30, then know I only had 5 or so lbs to lose after baby comes out.

Very interesting! Did you eat that much because you were hungry or just as an experiment? What do you have your diary set to for protein, etc.? I think it has to be a combo of eating too much/not enough exercise, but also hormones/water retention because when not pregnant if I have a bad weekend, Monday morning I might be…

hey ladies! I'm due July 19th with my 3rd baby! I've already gained 14lbs and am pretty bummed about it so I am going to get serious about MFP tracking again. Good luck!
-
Starting Weight: 186lb (5' 9 1/2") Week 16: 200 :( That's 16lbs in 16 weeks ladies. Boo!! ETA: Oops, I guess I'm really bad at math, 186-200=14lbs. Still 14lbs in 16 weeks...boo.

hey ladies! We are expecting #3 - a boy! July 19th. After my first son was born I got into MFP big time and went from 220lbs to 169lbs. That lowest weight was about 2 summers ago now though I'm afraid, and since then the weight has slowly crept back up. When I got pregnant this time I was 186, which is still 10lbs less…

Thanks for the input ladies! I took a long hike today and did a lot of thinking about this. I'll still talk to my midwife of course, but I'm thinking if I can use the next 2 weeks until I find out if I'm pregnant to really get back on track with MFP and exercise, then if I am pregnant I can adjust the settings to maybe…

I'm sorry, I was still in can't move or think mode after finishing the workout. I thought that 600 was a lot to burn in one sitting, LOL! I was impressed:)

Nope, they weren't wet.

Thank you! ! And good luck seeing your family, I hope they love the new you:-)

Husband is at work from 1-10am so getting up early is no good. I was thinking though, my kids go to bed around 7 and he's sleeping in the next room. ..lately they've been pretty good about going to sleep and staying in bed, maybe he'd be OK with me going for a run at night. ..course that won't help me these next two weeks…

that's a good idea too!
-
man, thanks!! I'm a little self conscious about my legs.
-
yep, 160 is my goal - it's arbitrary though, that's what I weighed on my wedding day 5yrs ago, but I'm already smaller than I was then. I am loving how I look right now, but the thighs and tummy tick me off! Ah, and my upper arms could use some slim-down too. Not sure how much more I need to lose to get them looking like I…

this is true. She actually works in a retail seconds store and gets me clothes all the time. I told her I need some size 8 jeans and she's yet to get them for me. Keeps getting me tens and says, "oh, this is a slim fit style". Yes...but still too big ;-) (the company she works for runs big, I wish I was an 8 in every brand…
