Sherry, I lol'ed at your report. I feel like everything is two steps forward, one step back. On Friday night my husband brought me home a single-serve pecan pie (unsolicited) and I ate every bite but blew a lot of calories. Here is October my week 1 report: 1. Lay out workout clothes every night (or set up bag if going…

[Group Hug] Laura, you are smart to take today off so you can hit the ground running today. Valma, I also HATE crying at work thought I did it last week when I was blue about my friend. I've worked here less than a year and I've already cried like 5 times (about personal stuff), had diarrhea so bad I had to go home, and…

They seriously look like jeans! I think I'm going to wear them on Friday and we'll see if I can pull them off. We are only allowed to wear jeans on Friday. They are seriously comfy. Will report back.

Sherry, I know just what you mean about needing mama play date. I could use one too! Laura, I never knew so much fun could be had in Fargo. Glad you connected with your friend & had family fun. Got a kick out of all your wall posts this weekend. Skipped swimming today & had a much-needed catchup day. I also got ready for…

Attempted Pilates this am...not a good workout because I couldn't get my head in it. Ugh. And maybe I'm a jerk but I was relieved when our dinner out with friends was cancelled because it was at one of those seriously-there-is-nothing-healthy-on-this-menu chain restaurants and I overate last night. It did not feel good.…

Laura, that threadstarter speaks right to me. Thank you. Felt so good about getting two walks in yesterday and hitting 12k steps (my goal is 8K) until 9pm last night when my knee started hurting. Ugh. This week I’ve been doing okay on calories, certainly not great. Got up early this morning and made a healthy dinner so…

Here are some healthy goals to consider: 1. Yoga/stretching (if doesn't aggravate problem) 2. Learning new healthy recipes 3. Getting a massage 4. Create an actual bedtime (even if you don’t go to sleep right away, it will still help roll back your evening) 5. Eat breakfast 6. Eat produce with every meal 7. Eat everything…

October certainly came up fast this year. Right now I’m reading a book about mini-habits. Basically, motivation and willpower have limits but healthy habits trump healthy choices every time. The book suggests setting un-fail-able goals so that you can set up good habits. Getting started can be one of my biggest obstacles.…

Thank you all for your kind words and good wishes. I really needed the reminders to be gentle with myself. This morning I woke up before my alarm so I laced up my sneakers and went for a nice walk. It was pitch black and drizzling but not too cold so I didn’t mind. Today’s the first day I’ve felt more like myself. Valma,…

Thank you, Laura and Marla.

Thank you for the nice words

I’m very, very sorry to say that a good friend passed away at the end of last week. I have been sad, sad, sad. And I’ve been struggling not to emotionally eat. I did have one junk foody meal Sat but it was planned and was a small cheeseburger, small fry, and small frosty (I poured out half as I had actually ordered the…

Great to see these lessons learned. Yes, Laura, I really liked that post about eat and train, not diet and exercise. Here's My September Goals report: Not to let 2 days go by without exercising or getting my steps in (gotta squash the lazy momentum)--FAIL. Keep all trigger foods away from my household. Nary a trigger food…

RISE AND SHINE! This morning I got up before my alarm and hopped on the treadmill with US Weekly and other trashy mag for 20m. Oh, yeah! Then I got on the bike --set the timer for 15m---and continued reading. When the 15 minutes were up, I wasn't done so I stayed on for 5 more mins to finish. This is one thing that helps…

Sherry, I should have known you wouldn't let me off the hook! Okay, for the last week of September my goals are: Not to let 2 days go by without exercising or getting my steps in (gotta squash the lazy momentum) Keep all trigger foods away from my household. Nary a trigger food shall cross my threshold! Find a fall/winter…

I didn't get on the ball early enough this month but I'd be interested in the October version.

To feel good in the morning, go to bed RIDICULOUSLY early. The night before, set up everything you need in the am so you just get up, brush teeth, and go. In the winter I sleep in my workout clothes! Also no matter how short a workout is (If I get up at 6:15 and can only get in 20 mins) it's totally WORTH IT. Cross over to…

Yesterday was just okay. Felt good about getting in my steps and healthy meals…not so good about my emotional eating after dinner :( Today I’m not planning on working out since it’s quelle hectic. Tomorrow am I’m going to hit the treadmill. Brought healthy lunch & snacks to work and pre-logged all food today. Decided to…

This weekend’s eating wasn’t as good as it could have been. A friend brought over ¾ of a cake from Trader Joe’s because she didn’t want it in her house. I don’t blame her, it was delicious. I really didn’t appreciate having it in mine as I ate too much of it and didn’t feel good . Next time I’ll take it right outside to…

Spent entire day on feet at conference. Managed to avoid more than the lion's share of unhealthy treats. Feel very proud of self for avoiding so many probably delicious samples. I did have one thing that was totally worth it, and I'm glad I did. Have lots of swag. Glad it's only once a year. Even though my fitness tracker…

Great job Maura on your 8k run! It would take me a week to get that mileage! Battled a cold earlier this week and did everything (supplements, rest, neti pot, water) to feel better. Happy to report it worked! When I got home from work yesterday I grabbed the stroller (left all our stuff in the car) and took my toddler for…

Yesterday I woke up with a sore throat & runny nose. Still took toddler to swim class but did not swim laps after (my usual). I also had a dinner disaster so ended up ordering pizza. This morning I remembered I had Lean Cuisines downstairs. Double fail. Keeping eyes on prize so moving on. Pre-logged today's food and made…

CONGRATULATIONS MARLA!! THE CROWD IS GOING WILD!

Happy Friday to All! Trying to bust out of rut, guzzling water, got up early for an intense workout. Pilates tomorrow and swim on Sunday. Yesterday afternoon I went for a walk (even though the person I was supposed to meet with cancelled) and felt like at least it was something.

Valma, I also just typed my post then lost it. Doh! Doing okay over here--not great though. My energy level has dropped. Good: Getting plenty of sleep, drinking h20 Needs improvement: Daily workouts (even if short), saying no to sweets (damn you Rice Krispy Treats!) Have Sat and Sun workouts planned so that's looking good.

Feeling discouraged because my weight is up...but I am not giving up! [Grumble, grouch, grouse...] Glad to see so many healthy activities and challenges faced head-on. It's really awesome to see how you do it! Valma, two gold stars for your crazy soggy run! Hope your house stays dry.

So happy to,see momentum in the healthy direction! Yay for half marathons, feeling better, getting in activity, scale dropping, and massages! Went to Pilates this am & it was great! It was also so good to get in a Sat am workout... Then I went to an all day family gathering and started off eating chicken no rice and ended…

Maureen, glad you're getting out. I also love Fall. I even have a favorite tree! CONGRATULATIONS LAURA! A new low weight---wow! You're awesome! Sherry, sometimes exercise helps me feel better during TOM, other times it's just the heating pad. Jane, all activity is great, especially when you can sneak in those "extras." I…

Heeeeeellloooooo. I've been off the radar but (thankfully) not off the rails. I also haven't really been feeling very enthusiastic about fitness/booty moving/eating vegetables lately. Read in bed this morning instead of exercising and then went for a nice---if grossly humid---walk at lunch with a work pal. Logged all my…

Didn’t have a great night last night and feel draggy today. Ugh. I did go for a walk this am and am going on a short one with a pal later. Yawn. I’m going to bed early today and hitting the grocery store tomorrow. Here's to a healthy weekend!
