I have not had hunger pangs since I started eating differently. I do eat a lot of raw veggies, sometimes in a salad or sometimes as a side. This allows me to be full and still have calories left over. You can check my diary if you like to see what a typical day is like for me.

Last year I lost 65 lbs without exercise just by counting calories and logging. Then I found I had cancer so gained about 15 back while trying to keep food down because of meds. This year I hope to lose another 50 and hope to be able to add a little exercise in to regain the lost stamina from the cancer meds. I am 61 this…

You can let it be but make sure you don't ever go below 1000. Of course, a few peanuts will take up those 80 cal in no time.
-
Also, you might want to spread out your eating so you don't have the highs, lows, dizziness. Instead of eating just at meal time, put some snacks in there and make sure you are netting those 1570 calories each day. It will really make a difference.

Most of the serving sizes on packages also have the amount in grams. I weigh the grams for the serving size so I can count the calories. My food scale has become my best friend.

I used to bring an electric hot pot with me. That way I could have boiling water in the motel for a "box" meal that just needs water to cook. I also brought a can opener to open cans. Tuna salad sandwiches were a good mainstay, Add a sliced cucumber and an apple, and you have healthy lunch. As for the ice, A couple of…

There is no cheating on this program. You choose to eat a higher amount of calories than you need, knowing that this decision will slow your weight loss. You can also choose to exercise to offset some of the extra calories to minimize damage. There is no need to feel guilty as these are your decisions.

I have tried both. WW didn't work for me as the free vegies and fruit were my downfall. I would rather be counting calories of everything than playing games with their (whatever is current) point system. Just me.

The meds I am on cause constipation so it is a constant battle. I do take stool softeners, about 4 a day, but sometimes I also need to take Miralax. Constipation put me in the hospital for 5 days last summer so it doesn't necessarily work itself out. You may need to talk to your doctor if you don't become regular.

Leave a note for the vendor. Can't make changes if he doesn't know.

Ignore the scale. If you must, always weigh on the same scale at the same time with the same clothes on and only once a week. If you ignore the scale but log you foods and exercise, stay within your calorie range, the weight will come off but you need to give it time..... lots of time!

calories in < calories out = weight loss. That said 50 lbs by June is too lofty of a goal. Change your eating habits to weigh and measure everything. Then log without fail. If you do this you will be closer to your goal in June.

One of my quick inexpensive but filling meals is egg drop soup. If cooking for 1. 2 c water, 1 tsp chicken soup base, 1/2 c celery finely chopped. 1 tsp dried minced onion. Cook until celery is soft. bring to boil. Stir in 1 egg ( stirred so yolk and white are mixed. Thicken with 1 tbsp. cornstarch. Not many calories but…

Or you could say, "I'm really full right now, can I take some home for later. It is delish!"

yea! Hopefully she will keep it up. Remember though, success lies with portion control.

Just because it was suggested, doesn't mean you need to follow. At 250 pounds you are a good candidate for the MFP diet of counting calories. Yes, you will need to purchase a digital food scale if you do not already have one. It will take a couple of seconds to weigh each item you put in your mouth, and a few more seconds…

Put a few portions into snack bags for yourself and save some calories to indulge or use some exercise calories to "earn" the snack. I have also found that slicing a whole unpeeled cucumber and eating like chips will help satisfy the need to snack, as will a sliced up apple. Then of course, make sure you get your water in…

You are trying to better yourself. There is no reason to feel ashamed. People can be insensitive and are best ignored. Others have given great ideas, for me I get bored trying to walk in the house so I have a treadmill setup in front of a TV. If you live near an animal shelter, volunteer to walk some of the dogs. Or if you…

I have found a 12 grain bread that I really like that is only 45 cal a slice so for 90 cal I can have a sandwich on "real" bread and not a tortilla that has more cals.

Weigh and measure!!! EVERYTHING!!!! I buy the snacks and portion out to 1 serving bags. The snack size baggies are good for this. I allow 1 a day. That way I know I am not restricting and can have a taste of everything I want. I check the fast food menu site ahead of time to find what will fit into my calories for the day.…

I would check out your local library and don't forget interlibrary loan. You should be able to find plenty. As for online sites, I like allrecipes.com

Not sure which plan you are talking about but, MFP is free and is based on calories in < calories out. As for exercise DVDs you can purchase them anywhere for about $10 or you can check out your local library and see which ones they have. I would be more inclined to do the library as again it is free and you can get a…

If you choose not to log a day, chances are you will be eating more calories than you need so yes, of course this will slow your weight loss. Only you can decide if it is worth it to you.

My pcp also suggested surgery for me. I changed Drs. Actually, like you, I am overweight. I have known more who have had the surgery and gained the weight back than were able to keep it off. It is not a cure all other than the big money maker it is for those who don't consider all the ramifications. If you are losing…

I grab an 80 cal yogurt, make it last at least 15 minutes by taking super small bites and enjoy. Then go back to bed. Next day, plan your calories a little differently so you feel full through the night. It may take a while to adjust to your reduced calorie plan but you will and hunger will not be the problem it is now.

I don't have cheat days. I have days that I choose to eat above my calorie goal. I do try to log everything. If I go out and the place is not on the list, I look for a similar item and usually will take a midrange caloric count. I also will save half my meal for a later time. Instead of weekly trips to the Chinese Buffet,…

Yes! Follow the restrictions set for you by your Dr. to avoid the kidney problems. He/she should be able to Monday refer you to a dietician who can help you with a list of allowable foods. Then it is as simple as weighing out 1 serving and eating within your calorie goals. You may also want to get your Dr.'s blessing on…

If it is a Dr. who is restricting, your diet in such a way, go back and get a list of allowable foods. If it is not a Dr. or other medical professional whose care you are under who is restricting your diet, why would you listen?

Also, make sure you buy quality equipment. The treadmill I bought has a "cushion surface" to reduce impact. It also has a wider track than some as I was not comfortable on the narrow tracks. My stride also overstepped on a lot of the cheaper machines. Make sure the store will allow you at least 15 minutes on the demo model…
