  • Day 43 I have not dropped off the face of the earth. I am still trying to get my logging to be accurate but had too many "life events" to stick to my calories. Now back on track, hoping to see that scale start sliding downward. On the plus side, I made sure to log in every day and did make an attempt at recording my foods.…
  • Instead of giving up something, you can add something. Or, if you want to give up something, give up all the still good junk food to the local food shelf. Make sure the date has at least 6 months on it so you are not creating a problem for the organization that would need to throw out your outdated food. WIN WIN. Out of…
  • 2/4 day 28 Have been missing the last few days while at the quilt retreat. Hard to log when you don't know the size or content of the items so took a short vacay from logging. Back on track today. Tried to limit what I ate at the retreat, Included salad and smaller portions of the main meals (no second helpings) still,…
  • 1/30 Day 23 Had a good day food wise. Only a few cal under so I am happy with that. Tomorrow I head to the quilt retreat so have been busy packing. Hope to keep eating under control for the next 4 days. Have a lot of projects to work on. Today when I woke it was 29 below 0 with a windchill closer to -50. Not looking…
  • The weight has crept up over the last few years so I have about 100 lbs to lose.
  • 1/29 Day 22 Decided to have a real breakfast today. Omlet with toast by the time I got done logging I had used most of the days calories. The big thing was I really felt miserably stuffed. That meal did carry me through most of the day and I was able to finish the day still within my calorie limit. Nice save so it was…
  • Not extremely short, 5'8" but extremely sedentary due to health issues so the 1280 cal is about what it should be. In logging, sometimes I do get lax and not weigh everything but go with the package amounts such as for the ham and bread (45 cal a slice for this particular variety) Butter may have been a little over 1 TBSP…
  • Makes them very fluffy. Only need about a tbls for a 2 egg omlet
  • The quilt retreat I go to is put on by a Bible Camp. They do about 5 a year. It seems the same people go to the same ones so after a few years they have become friends. We work on our own projects although sometimes they have quick projects for us to do if we want.
  • It is hard to lose a long time companion. (hugs). The best way to honor her is to go to the nearest shelter and volunteer to walk some of their dogs. When the time is right, you will be able to open your heart to another.
  • 1/28 Day 21 Back to logging and measuring. Starting to learn what reasonable portion sizes are. So far have not been super hungry on this new eating journey. True, eating a lot of salad and soups but I enjoy those and am getting a variety in. Trying not to obcess with the scale as I have done in the past. This journey has…
  • Lasagna is one of those things that I enjoy letting Stoufers cook. I try to weigh my serving size so I limit myself, and add a nice side salad.
  • adding Chicken is easy. I throw several frozen chicken breasts in a crockpot. Turn it on til it is done. I have fresh cooked chicken for several days that I can make salad, soups, hot dishes, sandwiches etc with. However, being as young as you are and the weight that you are I think you would do well to reevaluate your…
  • 1/27 Day 20 Did fairly well at the potluck today although I am certain there were a few things I missed when I tried to log after the fact. Chose to have some leftover meatballs (usually a rarity but there were two other crocks of meatballs there) for supper. The killer for me though was when I got into the snack mix. I…
  • 1/26 Day 19 Too cold to do anything today so didn't even get out of the house. Found things to amuse myself with though so I didn't eat. Started embroidering some designs on my machine for a new quilt. Also did a bit of reading. After supper I have 200 cals left for a night snack but getting kind of late and may not need…
  • Eating is a choice. Some days you choose to eat less than what you need (weight loss) Some days you choose to eat just what you need (maintain weight) Some days you choose to eat more than you need (weight gain) For you to "see" a weight loss, you need to do more of eating less than you need than the other two. I don't see…
  • Not to be rude, but sometimes you need to eat what you don't like. If your husband is such a picky eater that his foods stress the budget too much. he will need to step up to the plate and get a different job that will support his tastes or adjust his tastes to support his budget. That said, He may need to eat more…
  • 1/25 Day 18 Am finding that by coming here to this post I am holding myself accountable. Last night I awoke with hunger pangs. Didn't have calories to cover so ate half of a banana. Ate the other half this morning for breakfast and logged it today. That left me short a few calories for tonight's supper so I think I will…
  • 1/24 Day 17 Way too cold to do anything outdoors stayed in cocooning. Again prelogged but then needed to change some as we didn't have everything that I had logged. Next week I will be out of town from Thur-Sun so will need to plan a strategy to stay within my limits. Usually not good at that as the food is sooooo good at…
  • I have tried the bike but right now the cancer is in my hip so gets aggravated from the movement. I do have a 3 wheel bike I purchased last summer before I knew the cancer landed in my hip. Hopefully will be able to ride it when the snow goes. Thank you for caring. You are right. Cancer sucks!
  • 1/23 Day 16 I have all of my food prelogged already. Need to drink a bit more. Also need to figure out how to get some exercise in. Would love to walk but am unsteady on my feet due to cancer. This may take a little research. I do get tired of sitting all of the time. I use a walker or a cane all of the time and because it…
  • 1/22 Day 15 Decided to make it easy on myself so chose to eat the same as yesterday. Also got all my water in early so hoping I can sleep a bit better tonight. I will need to see what is in the freezer for tomorrow's meals. Hard when you have no interest in cooking. The key here is to keep weighing portions and logging…
  • Talk to your doctor for a list of exercised you can do that will not be painful for you. Maybe a little walking coupled with other exercises might be the key. Or not. If you eat in a calorie deficit you will lose weight without exercise. So... you goal should be learning to weigh your portions and log them faithfully. Take…
  • Sometimes a good walk will help you destress enough so you don't feel like you need to empty the refrigerator in your mouth. When you get home, take 20 minutes and walk around the block to enjoy the day. If you have a hungry family waiting for supper as soon as you get in the door, you might need to take advantage of a…
  • If you live in Michigan, you need to embrace the winter. There is no reason not to strap on some cross country skis and hit the trails. Maybe a good snowshow jaunt. Your horse would also enjoy a good ride down the trail or if he is trained, hook him to a sleigh and have some fun. I live in WI so know how long winters can…
  • I've replaced all the joy in my life with cauliflower rice and I am having the worst time getting over this hump. Go back to the basics. Weigh that food and log it.There really is no need to replace all the "joy" with something you don't like. Just eat less of it, fewer times per month. So.. if you want that goey,…
  • Some days you need to take that emotional health day. However, give yourself a time limit. Force yourself to start by saying you will do a 5 minute workout. Once you get into it, no doubt you will continue. If not, that's ok too. Make it up some other way. Maybe a quick walk around the block.
  • It isn't so much about diet breaks but your mental health. As with anything, your diet (what you eat) is part of life. A very restricted regimen is not sustainable for the long term but you need to find balance. Counting calories keeps you aware of how much you are eating. If you have weight to lose, you need to eat less…
  • Weight fluctuates as does scales and the way you stand on them. To show you how much, weigh yourself right after eating your final meal for the day. Then weigh yourself right before bed, then if you get up in the middle of the night to pee off that water, weigh yourself again, finally, weigh yourself after your morning…
  • 1/21 Day 14 2 weeks! I have already prelogged my supper so I thought to come here early. I even have about 300 cal left over for a snack. Will see what I do with them. Today I am celebrating being here for 2 weeks! I know, a small thing for people who have faithfully logged for years but hey, gotta start somewhere.
