Measure out your snacks in portion control bags. In addition to the calories, write the number of minutes it will take you to work those calories off. Ex. For a 100 calorie snack I need to walk 20 minutes at a slow pace. If I really want the snack, I head to the treadmill for the workout before I allow myself the snack.…

Yup, you need to eat. You can eat anything that you want as long as you stay under the calorie level. Get a food scale and weigh and measure. I was always over estimating what I was eating. :-( You can eat back all or none of your exercise calories but you need to eat the minimum 1950 a day

Don't forget your crockpot is your best friend. Toss it in the morning and ready to eat when you get home.

Exercise is good for you. There are many places to get it. I am assuming at this point you do not want to join a gym. That is Ok. Walking is still one of the best starter exercises. Head to the nearest mall and walk the courts, perhaps a church will let you do laps in their fellowship hall. A large big box store like…

Are you weighing everything? My portion sizes for some items were waaaay over but I would count the cals for 1 serving. Do not go lower than the 1200 cal. Not sure how much you weigh but anything lower is unhealthy. Try eating back some of your exercise cals. Make sure you get your water in. Keep on keeping on. Weight will…

I am surprised your boss has not gotten on your case about picking at frosting in pans, very unsanitary unless you are washing your hands each time you do this. Also, think of the broken cookies, etc as samples that your boss can put out to help get more business. You are eating the profits! So, just make it a rule. If you…

Water is the best drink. Diet soda has a lot of chemicals in it and you are right to want to give it up. Have you tried water with a twist of lemon in it? It does get easier. I found I really like ice water and will drink that all day. I first gave up the caffeinated sodas about 25 years ago, then realized how much…

Yup, I had 20 jelly bellies earlier today. Pathetic for the caloric count. :o

Maybe if you have some easy to grab snacks like baby carrots, or slice up a cucumber or an apple, that will tie you over til supper. I have found I need to eat in like 3 hour intervals in order to stave off the munchies. I also munch cereal but have premeasured that and put it in baggies for the week.

Just remember, people spit on them before bringing them to work. YuKKK

First of all, quite buying the junk food and that includes soda. If it is out of the house you think longer about if you really need it. Instead, dedicate that amount to your children's college funds. Next, tell your family to buzz off (in a polite way) and let them know you are under doctor's care. (you do see a doctor…

I put a TV in front of my tread and find I am using it more. need the volume up but at least it is helping me get the motivation.

Thanks, I will write things down and catch up in the morning.

If she is ordering from a restaurant that has published calorie values, look it up ahead of time and order accordingly. Otherwise, order to celebrate with her but eat only a small portion and "save the rest for later"

Yes, Chinese would taste good. If you look in the food database you will see plenty of Chinese food. So.... Select something in the database that you have calories for and eat just that portion. The rest of the fam can pig out on the rest of it. Or, the alternative would be that you make a recipe at home and slim it down…

You should be able to do this. Are you a single, part of a couple, or family with children. The reason I ask is it is obviously easier if you are single. You will need to shop differently, but because you will eat less, you may find you are actually saving money.

Day 3 Doesn't take long to be tempted. Went over my calorie goal by a couple hundred but that donut was calling me. Still, logged it to report the damage. Wasn't able to exercise today either but I logged in, logged all my food (even the donut and ice cream later in the day) Drank the water Tomorrow is another day.

Day 2 Logged in- huge for me. I need to take this first step of dedication Logged my food Walked just over a mile and a little faster than yesterday. Would like to get back to 2 miles in 30 minutes but I have a long way to get there. Drank most of my water earlier but was a couple of glasses short so downed them after my…

I know what you mean. I eat lunch in my car between jobs. Fortunately not enough time to stop at fast food restaurants even though I pass several. I did put the treadmill in front of a TV but usually am not a tv watcher. That might change if I find some good DVDS

if you eat certain meals, you can build them in your meals to make finding them easier. Same with foods. There are many calorie counting spreadsheet templates out there but I find it helpful to also keep a food diary to know what I ate. MFP does have graphs under the reports.

If you don't buy it, you can't eat it. Try to keep only healthy foods in the house.

Start off with portion control. Weigh everything so you can log it accurately. Then plan your meals. For me a typical breakfast is a measured bowl of cereal, 1/2 cup of milk, with 1/4 serving of raisins. Pretty boring, I know but usually don't have time to fire up the stove. That holds me until a midmorning snack of a…

It sounds like you hit a reason with the relationship with the parents. If you are an adult, have you considered moving? If not, have you considered talking to them and letting them know you need to have them accept you for who you are and not worry about your weight? Binges are hard to control, as you said, it is not…

That is the biggest reason the WW didn't work for me. I LOVE fruit and ate too much of it on WW. Afterall, they told me it was free, no point value etc. Yup, Fruit has calories. Count 'em

I won't say anything unless they have confided in me that they are trying. To me a person's weight is personal, and as another poster said, the weight loss could be medical.

First off, in one year you have lost 54 lbs! Congratulations !!!!!!!!!! That is a huge accomplishment. You are toning your body with the workouts, be patient, continue doing what you are doing and soon your body will react. Right now it is still working hard to catch up to the "New You"

Until I started weighing my food, I didn't know that my bowl of cereal in the morning was actually 3 servings! No wonder the weight packed on.

I would quit both the coffee and the tea and not get into the energy drinks as they all could have caffeine. When I quit my diet coke cold turkey, the headaches lasted for about a week. Have not gone back and rarely have headaches.

That is probably a safer way to setting goals. It is OK to set them, just don't make it impossible. As I am recovering from a year of illness, I am also trying to set fitness goals for myself. I have a treadmill and am working up to 30 min at 3mph in one stretch. It is a long range goal as so far I am at 15 min at 2.5 mph.…
