Sauteed with onions, bacon grease, a touch of brown sugar, apple cider vinegar and dijon mustard.

Well my dinner took about 20 mins from start to finish. Rice cooker, canned beans, and homemade canned corn relish.

Other than losing weight my goals are: Blood pressure back into the 100/70 range Total Cholesterol back under 140

:indifferent: Vodka and coke.....together? Flavored vodka or plain? (I made some crab apple flavored vodka this summer, and it was AWESOME in club soda)

we were going on a road trip one year to California from MN, and my dad thought it was a great idea to go get Halloween candy (free!) for the trip snacks.....my brother and I were crying 'cause we wanted to go home...but my dad was like "One more neighborhood!" I got something close to 45 pounds of candy and my brother…

I like that idea... My 5 yr old will go nuts for a snack/junk food for a couple of days, then I put in the cupboard (not the pantry where he'll see it), and he tends to forget about it...he went hog wild on Halloween candy for about a week, then I brought the rest into work around thanksgiving after a week and a half of no…

it is a sad statement.....back when I was in college, I netted about $250 a month after paying rent and utilities.....and I was able to eat healthy then. Probably ate McDonalds 1 a month. (and that was working 25 to 30 hrs a week, and taking a 27 credit hour course load) It's called 'knowing how to shop' and 'knowing…

I get paid monthly. So we budget on a monthly basis. (man was that hard to learn when I went from weekly/bi weekly paychecks.) I love my rice cooker. The 'long time to cook' rice is cheaper than instant (price per weight baisis)....if I make rice for dinner, I'll usually cook extra and then freeze the rest...instant rice…

I grew up in a 'clean plate' house. We had dessert every night, always had cookies, pop, chips, candy, sugary cereals around (my mom at the time would drink a 12 pake of coke or more a day)... looking I never understood how we could be 'poor' (poor being relative compared to the people we lived around) and still have all…

Minnesota State Fair: Corn on the cob Turkey Legs Fried Cheese curds. the 25 cent milk booth. And I always buy a couple of bags of the Minnesota State Fair Apples from the Ag Pavillion...(that's the #1 reason I go to the fair) One year I ate so many apples (like a 5 pound bag of 'em in a day...and that's pretty much all I…

Bought it at the grocery store it was a Bob's Red Mill package. Never tried Ethiopian food. But if it's got lentils I'm game! Will have to see if there is an Ethiopian place near me to try next time we eat out. Will also have to find a recipe for Ethiopian-style bread...and a dinner recipe to try with it. The bread last…

Actually mine is 5 times too small. And I laughed at your post.

So, what's a quick fix that addresses their weight gain in the first place? I'm listening. I'm interested.
-
What I wonder, how many people who have done 'quick fixes' actually keep the weight loss off? Since the quick fix never addresses what made them gain weight in the first place. Isn't that why they are always re-doing the quick fix, or looking for the next newest better one? Sorry to hear about your niece's effects from…

I usually pack a lunch (dinner leftovers). Jimmy Johns delivers so I do that if I forgot. Otherwsie I keep a stash of crackers and soup, tuna and pickles, low sodium V-8, and other random things I can eat for lunch if I forgot and don't want a sandwich. I made a large pot of the Eating Well Garden Veggie Soup on Sunday.…

Does it measure your TDEE higher or lower than the calculators gave you? Just wdonering since for me, both were really close. The armband was slightly lower.
-
I have (had, I just jumped into the shower this morning with the armband on....hoping a rice soak will bring it back to life) the BodyMedia armband. I found mine was within about 5% of my calculated TDEE.

If it was me, I'd be happy with a steady 0.5 pound weight loss a week average. But that's just me. Weight loss is NOT linear, and sometimes it makes no sense.....you could go three weeks losing nothing, and then drop 4 the next week.

Everything. If it fits into my calorie goals for the day, I'll eat it. I just don't eat the 'bad' stuff in as large of quantites, or as often as before.

"I think it would be good if MFP promoted a plan though since a lot of people just “want to lose the weight” and not think about how to change their lifestyle. " Problem is.....with a 'plan' you're going to have to stick with it forever to make the 'success' stick. And we all know how hard humans have it sticking to plans…

"Embracing the hunger is an important part of dealing with hardship of dieting" What? Dieting is not a hardship if done correctly. To me, that's the wrong mentality. If you go at it as a hardship, you're setting yourself up for failure.

OP is a 40 yr old male.....that used to eat, estimated 5000+ calories and has now dropped to 1500. Too far too fast. Just doing something like drinking water, tea, or chewing gum is not going to work. I'm a 40 yr old female, and eat more than 1500 calories. Calculate your BMR, and your TDEE. Do not eat below your BMR.

Chocolate chip cookies. Added: Won't get any though. If I'm going to eat baked good I'm making them myself, and I feel too lazy to bother making a batch of cookies. Especially since the ones I make are whole wheat, oat and walnuts, and my pantry got torn out.....too lazy to walk back and forth to the extra bedroom for that…

I'm more worried about the E Coli and Salmonella in meats and fruit/veg than I am about a bug in my food.
