You could use avocado on your bagel, like a spread. It's healthy fat.

I use Nuts To You nut butters. There's a HUGE range. Only nuts, no sugar no icing sugar (like in some brands). It's so good! Added- it's made by a small company in Ontario, and most I've seen use organic nuts. Another tip I was given was to avoid ones that you don't have to mix. A good nut butter will usually have oil on…

Agree with everyone who suggested an elimination diet. Also a child's Omega 3 can really help as well. Vitamin D is worth checking out, like others suggested. Has he ever had thrush or had antibiotics or anything? Sometimes a child's probiotic can be beneficial (don't just give him yogurt if you're trying to figure out…

I had amazing results with a holistic nutritionist and ND combo. Changed my life. I can't recommend that option enough now. I had terrible experiences with my MD so I'm always leery but I think good doctors (no matter their background) can be open to collaborating with other specialists. Don't be afraid to get other…

I noticed a big difference with a probiotic. You could also try a digestive enzyme for protein if you're eating a lot of it.

They're also known as shirataki noodles and I've heard a pretty common food item in Japan. I wouldn't worry. A lot of people eat them and I've never heard of negative effects.

I agree!

In my mind, it's better to plan ahead and eat something you normally wouldn't than deny yourself and end up binging on something worse later on because you're craving it.

The only time I really heard about stomachs shrinking was with people suffering from anorexia or people who severely limited the amount they would eat (not calories but amount). If they ate too much solid food after not having any for long periods of time, it could cause cramping, illness, stomach pains, etc. It would mean…

I worked at a health food/supplement store for a few years and this was always a common question. Unless you're advised to do specific ones by a doctor or lacking something specific in your diet, I would always tell people to get a good balanced multi, omega 3 oil (unless you eat fish several times a day) and Vit. D…

Thanks!

Are you up north? I knew someone who worked up north for awhile and hear horror stories about how much he spent on food (especially his comfort foods).

This is the guideline I try to follow. I like getting to know the farmers around me, seeing what's in season, knowing I'm helping the local economy the best I can. I think it's difficult (near impossible) to be 100% clean so I prefer to see it as being finding the best options out of what's available.

I eat a weird diet (sometimes vegan, sometimes not but I only buy vegan right now...I just have lots of frozen food stored but don't want to waste it). I spend anywhere from $30-50 a week for one, depending on if I'm trying new recipes and need ingredients I don't already have or if I need to replace things I've used up.…

Interesting! I finally live somewhere with a Costco but I've only been inside once. I looked at the Breville fountains...which did you get? I know some are better for veggies than others.

Ugh I feel you. I grew up drinking coke so it has been SOOOO hard to stop drinking it. I now try to stick with fruity ice teas (unsweetened) or sparking water with a little juice (pure cranberry or something). I do have coke if I go out to eat or something like that. IT SO HARD NOT TO. I personally LOVE ice tea mixes from…

Yeah that was my biggest problem. To really get the benefits of juicing would mean spending more than I could afford on produce. What I would have, it really wasn't worth it (juicing a few apples or an orange or something). I could easily eat that. I had a centrifugal force juicer that was lower to mid level and could…

I don't have any WW pasta to compare but there are pastas made with other products like Quinoa/Corn/Rice. Maybe get info on all of them and ask your nutritionist about it. Although I tend to assume they would have a pretty good understanding of all your needs and concerns so they would have taken that into account when…

Sometimes I think that trying to define how you eat/what you should eat just makes everything more complicated. I think if what you're doing makes you feel good, keep doing it. Maybe try to keep improving it over the years. But I know when I start trying to fit my diet into boxes, I just end up stressed and worrying about…

I tried juicing but I'd rather just eat the fruit. I did have a crappy juicer though so it couldn't do any veggies. That might make a difference? Otherwise it seemed like a lot of money for not much in return.

I think you mean "curbing" your appetite, not "curving". It might make a difference if you try to search for tips online or on the boards. I find sometimes if I don't drink enough water, I'll think I'm hungry but really I just needed something to drink.

But if it has the word 'acid' in it, obviously it will burn a hole right through me, not to mention RUIN my floor :( At least, that's what happens in my cartoons...

I don't know much about Red Bull besides that it's primarily a marketing scheme, not a product they manufacture (there was an interesting discussion about it on Secrets of the Superbrands on the BBC), Rockstar has sketchy ties to Michael Savage and the Paul Revere Society. Don't know anything about Monster. If I need a…

I also think of clean eating as trying to support sustainable agriculture/local farmers/respecting where your food comes from, no matter what you choose to eat.

I don't have a lot of room or a patio/outdoor fire escape so right now I'm only growing herbs in my windows but I love it! It's saved me a lot of money too since I always have them, never waste any and don't have to keep buying new packs.

I always add my protein to smoothies with other fruits so I'm not overly concerned with taste, just how well it mixes. If I use a powder at home it's Genuine Health Vegan+. I think this may only be in Canada but I'm not sure. When I worked at a health food store I got it at a good price, like the company, like the product.…

If you eat a lot of mayo you could always try making your own from better ingredients (higher quality oil or eggs). If you want to give it up, I started using more avocado or mustard. I also have made a dip out of greek yogurt (plain) lemon juice and herbs.

Hey! We have very similar goals and stats. I'm 29 but the same height and just a little heavier. I'm nervous too because it seems like SO MUCH to do.

Well, like any diet, it depends on what you replace the food you're cutting out with. I'm transitioning to vegan (so I'm slowly cutting things out, using up what I have) but I have been vegan for a long stretch (8 + years). I think the best way to see if you like it is to have a vegan day every week or try have a certain…

I agree it's dependant on your weaknesses. I track iron and calcium (in addition to the regular ones) because I don't eat meat or dairy regularly. I know I'm getting a lot of fiber so I don't worry about it. I get a lot of sugar from fruits and veggies so I don't bother tracking it for now. I don't eat a lot of processed…
