  • Encouraging words is what you will get from MFPers! You obviously remember how it felt when you were exercising and the wonderful feelings you had then. Try to hold on to those thoughts. Take one day at a time. Eat clean - that will seriously help how you feel - if you eat crap you feel crap and tired. I changed my eating…
  • I eat six times a day, every 3-4 hours. I workout from 8pm til 10pm then eat and go to bed. Look at my ticker to see how it works for me! That loss is from 3rd Jan 2012.
  • Thanks everyone - you are so encouraging to me. I thought my post was so long that nobody would be interested in reading it all. As you can see by my ticker, I have lost some more weight since the end of May. There is no magic formula just dedication and focussing on the goals. It's taken me 30 years to get my head round…
  • I am no expert, so I will tell you my experience. Weights = YES! If you would like to see how I did it, please go to the Community forum and read my story called "148days 56lb my story so far" everything I have achieved is by weightlifting. I need a knee replacement as it's bone to bone so if I can do it, anyone can! I…
  • Hi, Thanks for your comment. I too am fascinated by the psychology of this. I am an IT Trainer and learning about the things that affects people's concentration during (or even before) training sessions are so important, more important than the training itself sometimes. I truly couldnt have done this if my family weren't…
  • Thanks everyone - I wasn't sure if anyone would want to read my huge post, but it is inspirational to me that you all took time to comment in such positive ways.
  • Thanks for your comments hun. I really appreciate it. I am in the zone now and hope to go all the way. My MFP pals are part of the team too.
  • I had the same problem. I now accept that because I am lifting heavy every day the scale doesnt budge for a month or more sometimes, then BAM 7 - 14lb goes just like that. My inches are fast disappearing though! Stick with it you will see the scales go down but try not to worry about that number as your first goal.
  • MyProtein.com have loads of flavours and types. I use Impact Whey and mix with water. They are very tasty and don't have lumps. I did try the diet version but looking at the calories, protein, carbs etc there was not much difference between them. I have tried Strawberry, Vanilla and Chocolate and all are very nice. I take…
  • I used to run a business with these machines. They DO WORK in 10 minute exercises each day 3 times a week, but as far as calories goes they don't burn a lot. You don't move much during the exercise as you hold the position and the machine vibrates and tones while you hold the pose. People who used my machines were people…
  • I started at around the same weight as you in Jan 2012. I have been lifting heavy for all that time (obviously building up the weights because I had never done that before). If you look at my pics you will see I have toned and lost weight (70lb in fact) and I haven't bulked up. Yes, I have muscle definition appearing from…
  • As a person who needs a knee replacement (it is bone to bone) since I started exercising on 3rd Jan 2012 I now lunge, squat, AND do 1 legged squats. Yes I get a bit of pain but it is muscular. Before starting this I was contemplating using walking aids! Can I suggest you or someone perhaps looks at your form. However, if…
  • Only now am I beginning to see a difference. But somedays I still think I look the same as I used to! We will get there.
  • Exactly! Me too! Also - to do 100 full pushups in one 1hour session by November (I can't even do 1 yet!)
  • Hiya, apart from a week in Greece last week, I have logged every day since 3rd Jan and you can see the loss I have had so far. I am on "Phase 2" of my journey to lose another 54lb minimum. If you like think it would motivate you by seeing my daily workout numbers (yes, I workout in the gym every day) and occasional…
  • Amazing! You look years younger too! Well done
  • Hey, don't worry. Maybe my experience will help... I started my journey on 3rd Jan 2012 and I too was obsessed with the scale and those darn numbers. Initially, like you, they went down pretty consistantly but then stalled - for 10 WEEKS! This is not my usual pattern and I got a bit down about it too. Until I realised that…
  • You look totally different and what a credit to your hard work! I am really interested where the excess skin went? Did it shrink back, did you have surgery? I only ask because I am beginning to see excess folds and "empty" flaps and wondered if I will have to have surgery or it will go itself. Thanks.
  • Hey hun, loads of people have been where you are/ Take solace from the thought that, when you are at the bottom, the only way out is UP! You have done it before so you can do it again. Try to take one day at a time, one meal at a time. If you only manage one meal a day that's "good" then so be it, try for two tomorrow, or…
  • Sorry, I am taken LOL - married for 29 years :)
  • I just got through a 10 week plateau. I still lost inches tho so hang in there if you are working out hard and eating right it will come off. My recent loss was 6kg after this plateau. Good luck
  • A knee replacement. And a wrist tattoo that says "Strength" intertwined with cherry blossom (represents strength and overcoming adversity).
  • I am 3 sizes down since Jan 3rd, so NONE of my clothes fit. I am buying cheap supermarket clothing to get me by and when I reach goal in November will max the credit card! yeah
  • Hi! Add me as a friend - I have just lost 4 stone in 5 months with hard exercise and eating clean(er). A good tip for you would be to start a countdown in days - tear off a page each day, you will be amazed how quick the days pass which helps focus your mind on your target. Good luck!
  • Just got through a 10 week (yes 10 WEEKS) plateau with a 13lb loss in the last weigh in. Finally, I am on the road again. Didn't lose hope because I now look at the numbers on the scale as a guide - not my lifeline. During the plateau I lost 6.5% body fat, that's why I don't care about the scale anymore. BTW the reason I…
  • Found it: History (United Kingdom) The name "stone" derives from the use of stones for weights - a practice that dates back into antiquity. The ancient Hebrew Law against the carrying of "diverse weights, a large and a small"[2] is more literally translated as "you shall not carry a stone and a stone (אבן ואבן), a large…
  • What an inspiration - it's so good to see other people's success stories. I have just finished Phase One of my journey and reached my first goal of 4stone which I lost since Jan 3rd 2012. Phase Two is 4 more stone by my birthday on November 5th. For our overseas friends: 1 stone = 14lb. Wish I knew why it was called a…
