  • And/or you found your confidence :)
  • Squats, stairs, step ups, box jumps and lunges should be your best friend :) But do yourself a favor and make sure your form is good or you'll screw up your knees. There are a lot of different ways to vary through those exercises. Youtube has some good videos for form, if not, ask someone who works at a nearby gym. Maybe…
  • Fresh ground peanut butter. AVOCADOS!!
  • Good for you for not being afraid of change!

  • Agreed. Edited: I meant to agree to a particular post but hit the wrong button :) Personally, I pay no attention to anyone else, and certainly don't pass judgment. You never know their stories.
  • First of all, even if you're eating Paleo, it's calories in, calories out. Anyone can out eat a great workout. That whole 'don't worry about calories' paleo camp is mostly because a lot of people get fuller on all the vegetables and protein, so you eat less and stay satisfied longer. I've always calorie counted on Paleo.…
  • The B12 will help, but also look into Iron supplements. I take a multivitamin and an iron supplement and it makes a difference. When I remember them both, of course.
  • Better be sugar free.... :)
  • I would get B12 shots from my aunt, who is an NP, before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I don't ever recall hearing that it can boost your metabolism, but B12 is never a bad thing to have on board. Ever since I've stopped getting the monthly shots and since being diagnosed with hypothyroidism I've struggled more with…
  • Machines are rarely correct. Get a HRM, then surprise yourself. Or do the workout twice.

  • It sounds stupid but seriously- just don't let it. You're having great achievements everywhere else. Don't let one stubborn area sabotage you. Keep on keepin' on. Eventually, although it seems like forever, it'll go. You're really doing great!
  • I cut out grains and starchy carbs awhile ago because my tummy doesn't like them. The first few days are the worst (I felt like the first week), so yes, it should get better. At least, that's my experience. But there's always bad days and you just have to deal. You're normal. It'll pass. Just don't sit down to the sandwich…
  • I've heard of people having a high calorie meal (I'd try and keep it healthy :) when they've plateaued and it helped them out. I think one meal is worth the shot. I'd be careful on allowing a 'binge' day. Mine took 2 months to recover from :)

  • Ok, this thread will probably explode. Before it does, I just want to slip in my experience to OP and then I'm out! I tried Paleo for 30 days and loved it. I'm hypothyroid and the lower carbs work. But then I realized I still wanted an occasional cookie or bowl of oatmeal. So I took much of what I learned from Paleo and…
  • Sounds like you've got some great advice and know where you want to go with it. That's awesome. My only advice in regards to the plans you spoke of is this: Just try not to make it seem like she's being 'ganged up' on when including siblings. Or make her into a 'family project' that everybody is trying to fix. My family…

  • I have a somewhat similar circumstance, I'll see if my .02 helps. My mom is very sedentary, very overweight, very stressed and eats starches like crazy. She has emotional baggage and lives alone and really bad knees because of her weight. My brother is very obese as well, but he's more active. She got a lap band done, lost…

  • Hmm... where's the OP?
  • Both times I ran marathons I never lost. It's a terrible way to lose weight for me, maybe it's not for other people. I maintained, although my fitness was much better. Make sure you're giving your body enough food, but not too much. You might be burning a lot but it's not a free-for-all. Training for my first marathon I…
  • Agreed, it does seem complicated. However, I was trying it as a different approach because I kept hitting plateau after plateau for weeks on end. Just tryin' it out to see if it worked for me or not. I appreciate the input.
  • I have a 5 month Vizsla. He's not even half a year yet and already loves to run 4-5 miles. We're in for a superstar athlete, and hope to work up to mountain biking with him when he's older. We're planning on 25 mile bike rides, and we know that won't be a problem for him! He's the sweetest love ever, but he's still a…
  • Both my mother, and my brother, got the lap band surgery. They lost a lot at first, but since they didn't make a lifestyle change, they're back to their weight and more. My brother doesn't keep his inflated and my mother eventually had to have hers taken out in an emergency surgery because it had moved and she hadn't been…
  • 1. You do NOT "compete with this" in a healthy relationship. 2. My husband never comments on other women, and I never comment on other men. Not all men do that. I don't think I would be ok with it if my husband did, I would talk to him about it. 3. Talk to him about it. Tell him that his actions speak a hell of a lot…
