  • I’ve been doing WW for the last year & on & off for many years.. because I go up & down about 20 pounds from time to time. Just had to get back to MFP to count calories instead. I was stalled for the last 4 months even though I was totally staying on the blue program. My best guess is that I was over eating the free foods.…
  • Happened to me after 3 years. Have a dr. appt. in 2 weeks. Had all the regular symptoms of TOM and everything! hoping all is ok. they say it's not normal, but it's not uncommon?
  • I agree with spingirl605! Get out and get involved with a group activity. You might just make some new friends. Wishing you better days ahead ((hug)).
  • YES! I'm right with you. I'm 54 and post-menopausal. Same exact sleep issues you mentioned in a later post. I know my BMR/TDEE, I weigh measure, I'm doing at home weight/strength training (not heavy lifting), get 10,000 to 12,000 step a day and add cardio a couple of times a week. I eat between 1100 and 1400 calories a day…
  • bonsmom: thanks so much! We are quite similar! I'm a little shorter, a little over 5'6". I'm at 168 and want to be back at 140-145. Yep, I buy the Jimmy Dean Delights and skinny cows too! I'll have to try to the Bolthouse dressings, I've been making my own oil/vinegar dressings lately. Just getting back into some strength…
  • Bonsmom: You look fantastic! I'm 54 and have gained over the last 3 years. I need to lose about 20 to 25 pounds to get back to where I'm comfortable. Do you mind sharing your typical day of eating and calories you kept to while you were losing and your height/weight for reference?
  • Just tried this workout. I really liked it! Thanks for sharing!
  • Lasirena: Do you eat any exercise calories or do you stick with 1230 calories a day? I've been sticking with 1230 a day (just got back into this last week), but was wondering about eating some of the exercise calories.
  • Fantastic! You are an inspiration!
  • Ann: Thank you so much for sharing, I really appreciate it! I can definitely relate to the eating healthy but too big of portions. I've cut out a lot of what they say to cut out, so I know it's portion size. My other struggle is going out to dinner. We go out to dinner a lot as our stress reliever and social networking. I…
  • Ann, Can you share what you typically eat in a day? I'm struggling and looking for new ideas. Anyone with success has a lot to offer
  • Wonderful! Thanks for the motivation!
  • I agree! I like all of those same features and I didn't need to monitor my sleep, so the Zip give me everything I need. Love my Zip!
  • I did it once. It was a good kick start and I lost weight easily. Most of the food tasted fine, just a few things were bad. You have to know how to jazz it up with veggies and free foods (sour cream, salsa, etc.) or make a new recipe out of the meal. It seems expensive, but it's really only about $10 a day and I spend more…
  • I'm over 50 and had trouble losing also. I kept losing and gaining the same 20 pounds! So, I bought a FIBIT to try and get a better handle on what my TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) is and how much I should really be eating. Basically, your BMR + your activity = TDEE. It's been great. I log my food in MFP and the it…
  • I have the FITBIT Zip and I love it!!!!! It's really helped me a lot! pushes me to get my minimum 10,000 steps a day and then I log other exercise in MyFitnessPal. Somehow, it's made a huge difference in my motivation which has translated into a lifestyle change.

  • Leslie Sansone has some great in-home walking exercise dvd's and firming dvd's using between 1lb and 5lb weights. I would recommend those for begginers for sure! Congrats on getting back into it!
  • I love, love, love my FitBit Zip! Using it has finally resulted in a lifestyle change and not just a diet! Calories In/Calories Out! It's great! I have it linked to MFP and log all food and other types of exercise there.
  • to put it very simply, when you set a goal, say to lose 1 pound a week, it will try to keep you close to a negative -500 calories a day. So, if you burn 2500 calories one day, you could eat 2000. If you burn 1800 calories in a day, you would only eat 1300 calories. I believe it tries to Net you the 1200 goal. I finally…
  • I totally agree! No more strange diets for me! No more Low Carb, paleo, etc.! I bought a FITBIT and it changed my life. Calories In and Calories out! I too have bought so many diet books trying to find the magic combination. It was right there and much easier all along. Like you say, barring some medical conditions, it…
  • I have the Fit Bit Zip and I love it! This may sound weird, but it's really changed my life. I have it on always and it's really made me finally see how many calories I expend in a day vs. how many calories I eat using MFP for food tracking and then syncing them. I get most of my exercise from walking, but I do use MFP to…
  • Congrats on your progress!! You can really tell!
  • Great, so right after I post this a new study comes out today saying diets higher in protien are pretty bad for people ages 50 to 65! Geez, I think I'll just try to eat healthy and maybe not worry so much about the macros!!!
  • Thanks for sharing! This is great. I just got my fitbit a few weeks ago and I'm loving it. it really was a wake up call to me too! Also, I've been reading up on macros for women 50+, menopausal, and I have realized I need to change my macros! I'm starting with 30% carb, 40% protien, 30% fat as recommended by the guy that…
  • I've lost 1 pound in three weeks. I'd love to lose 5 pounds in a month! I'm more of a 1/2 pound a week person. :-)
  • the Zip is a small almost round device that you clip on your bra, waistband, or put in your pocket. the FitBIT ONE also is a clip on. the Flex and Force are bracelet type devices. You can go to Fitbit.com and see them all. the Zip is only about $50 and does not track sleep. I have no need to track the quality of my sleep…
  • I think the calories burned goes to MFP every time it you sync your Zip.... It seems to show up periodically, so I think that's what is happening.
  • WOW. Awesome success!!
  • Ok thanks! I wasn't sure because MFP asks how many times a week you will exercise and for how long.
