You probably don't need to "carb load" even a little to run for a few minutes, I doubt that's reached an endurance point where your body should need it, or I doubt it's making the difference from a science perspective. I have a gym membership that I use for my weight lifting but it's a 20 minute drive, no track. They have treadmills but it's a pain to have to dig out through 6" of snow and then drive to get started.
