I have been taking medication for high blood pressure for about 13 years, I'm now 50. When I started my BP was c190/110. I've been on various different meds in that time and currently take a daily dose of 50mg of Losartan Potassium. Up until 18 months ago I was on 100mg daily plus 5mg of Doxazosin but weight loss and…

Morning all! Been on the missing list again, sorry about that but been a really busy week. It's been a complete disaster gym wise, I didn't manage to go once so missed out on 3 of my SL5x5 sessions. Hopefully next week will be better and i'll be back on track. It was going well although in the last session I failed on my…

Into week 4 of SL5x5 and will post updated stats at the weekend. Next week is going to be a nightmare, Monday is a Bank Holiday so I won't be at work, and therefore nowhere near my gym and then I have a day off on the Friday so again won't be near my gym. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay to train at the local…

Far and away the best programme on tv this year.

Hey all! Not been around for a bit so been a bit lapse in posting. I'm into week 3 of SL5x5 and it's going well. Having started with the empty bar the weights are starting to increase now and it feels like i'm actually starting to lift. Been fitting in some cardio too so feeling quite good about myself at the moment. The…

I'm up to 2,000 which is a bit of jump so i'm expecting it to take a while for my body to readjust. Did another 5x5 session today and really enjoyed it but work was calling so didn't have time to do any cardio after so planning a session tomorrow.

Trust me, i weigh/measure everything! I'm going to do another week at 2k and then drop it down again, i'm looking at this as a marathon rather than a sprint so happy to take my time to get where I want to be. Enjoy the snow :)

Well, that didn't go as planned, I put on 1lb! This is my 2nd week on 2k calories after I upped it from 1,270 which the general consensus said was too low as my BMR is 1,800. I know it takes a bit of time for the body to reset itself so will be sticking with it and see what happens. It will be interesting to see what…

There it is, first week of 5x5 done and dusted, and I have to say I feel pretty damn good about it! I know it'll get a lot harder but things felt pretty solid, no waving around all over the place trying to lift stuff. After today's session, considering I'd spent £7.50 (c$12) on it I thought I'd do a bit of cardio just to…

Nearly came unstuck for tomorrow. I've got my final 5x5 session of the week and will be working from home instead of the office so won't be able to go to my normal gym. Fortunately i've spoken to the gym local to home and they do a pay per session offer so i'll be able to go there instead :) This will bring my first week…

Enjoyed the 2nd 5x5 workout this afternoon. Thought i'd struggle a bit with the overhead press as I broke my shoulder when I was a lad and that sort of exercise is not one I've focussed on in the past but it was actually a lot easier than I expected it to be. The squats and deadlift are lower weights than I've done in the…

Thought i might ache a bit today after the 5x5 session yesterday but feel ok. Even went to the gym after work and did a cheeky 20 minute walk @ 4.5mph on a 5 degree incline just to loosen up a bit. Second 5x5 session tomorrow, squats, overhead press and deadlift, bring it on!
-
First 5x5 session complete and i'm still alive! Even spent 20 mins on the cross trainer after just to up the ante.
-
Stronglift 5x5 starts tomorrow, time to put up or shut up! Only slight concern is I've had lower back pain for about 4 days now and hoping that's not going to interfere. Fortunately the programme starts off light so I can protect the back with correct form. Starting stats are: Weight = 85.5kg BF = 26.6% I'll keep you…

Will do. Not sure i'm looking forward to being in a busy gym lifting an empty bar to start with but will just have to deal with it!

Hi, Thought i'd pop in and say hello! 48 years old but feel (and, so i'm told, act) like i'm 21 :) Been on MFP for quite a while but really getting back into it again in the last couple of months. My main goal at the moment is to get down to 182 and to reduce my body fat. I've dabbled with the gym for years but never…

2 free range corn fed skinless chicken breasts, 100g Thai red curry paste and 300ml coconut milk. Tasted fantastic, filling and had a real kick!

Vanilla ice cream. The coldness would help soothe the chaffing but experience suggests it would lead to prolonged bouts of licking.

The only person you have to answer to in life is yourself. You have to work out what is important to you, how you want to be and stick with it. It's not always easy but you have to be true to yourself and if you can look at yourself in the mirror every day and smile then job done!
-
Excellent job, well done!

It would have been nice if you'd brought the Aussie weather with you! Good luck with the boot camp and feel free to add me if you want to :)

You'll find lots of support and advice on here, it's pretty impressive! Good luck to you all!

Skimmed milk for me. Used water originally but wasn't a fan to be honest.
