I can't seem to connect to the website above. I get the following message: Error establishing a database connection

For the best concert: I'd have to say Pink Floyd when I was in college, or CSN&Y outdoors. Garth Brooks or Reba McEntire later in life. Last great show for me was Carole King and James Taylor...in St. Paul, MN

Worst for me was....Willie Nelson. Don't get me wrong, I like some country music, just not Willie. It is just not my speed. I walked out. I've been to plenty of other country shows and I have many country music favorites as well. I grew up on Classic Rock and mid 70s sounds. My Dad worked for Shure so I always had the…

First, thank you everyone for responding to my Topic. I had no idea it would grow into this discussion. I'm still rather new to this area of the site. I guess I was a little "sad" that someone "rejected me" and I have no idea why. I should develop thicker skin right? And, some I guess think my profile is TMI, but I don't.…

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you get better real soon and can realize the benefits of the surgery. I have not had any problems and now consider myself very lucky. I hope to hear from you on MFP that things are improving. Take it easy....get plenty of rest and follow your Doctor's instructions.

I had my sleeve May 12, 2014. I am shooting for 600-800 calories per day at this point. Over the next year it will increase to 800-1000 per day as I was instructed. My protein goal is 60-80g. As I have moved on to the regular bariatric diet I have seen an increase in my intake. I am trying hard to get back down to 600-800…

Also...you can read about the accuracy of the VivoFit here: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/03/garmin-vivofit-review.html

Hope I understand this correctly...I just got my VivoFit last week. I can see my calories from my Food Log on MFP entered into the Connect iPhone App and website. It (Connect) calculates the value of my exercise and tells me the remaining calories I have left. The exercise itself does not show up anywhere in MFP, Connect…

I had my Sleeve procedure May 12, 2014. I took three weeks off from work, it seemed just about right for me. I don't have a real physical job but I needed time to heal and get used to the new eating routines. Add me if you like, I can possibly help with other questions. I honestly feel if you are working with a Bariatric…

The Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota Pride Celebration is this weekend! More info at www.tcpride.org More than 300,000 people are expect to attend over the weekend. The parade is a two hour+ event that attracts thousands in downtown Minneapolis. It is the largest parade in the State. Too bad the weather forecast is not…

I'm a newbie to Connect....user name: David-MN I am also a newbie to the Vivofit activity tracker which I just purchased yesterday. I am just getting started in making exercise a regular part of my new life, since having VGS ...gastric sleeve surgery on May 12, 2014. Thanks....

Sure, take a peek. You gotta have one gay guy as your friend don't you? As one that recently had WLS, you won't want to follow my food diary!

Thank you to all the members here who offered such kindhearted advice to help someone....I find all of you guys amazing. Thanks for reaching out to help someone who needed you. The best advice I could give was this 3x5 index card I kept at my desk...I used a fancy label machine and made a little sign that said "I CAN DO…

I can't believe how many times I find inaccurate entries in the database. I have suggested to MFP that the database REALLY NEEDS A CLEAN UP. I suggested that if a food has less than FIVE or maybe even TEN user confirmations....get rid of it. Lets start this over and do a better job of being accurate! We can all be more…

OK, here is summary of "advice" I would give: Get plenty of rest and water intake the day before. Make sure all your legal and healthcare directive documents are up to date. Get ready for a new beginning when you wake up in the recovery room. My best recommendation is to follow exactly, to the letter, every instruction…

Hello...I think there are a lot of good suggestions here.... BUT, Can you please pick up the phone and call your clinic's bariatric nurse to get their advice too? (if you have not already done so....please call them, they want to help and help you succeed.) Also, may I suggest: Re-review the materials they must have given…

I am a post-op gastric sleeve guy....I have read many negative posts about bariatric surgery on these boards. Most of the people don't fully understand the topic. That is a polite way of saying they don't know what they are talking about because they are not medical experts. All I wanted to say was the decision and…

I'm a fan of Premier Protein shakes, especially the new flavor Strawberries and Cream. (at Sam's Club or Costco) 30 Grams of Protein, half of my daily goal right now. It is on the approved protein supplement list from my clinic. My surgery was May 12th, my first day back to work was June 2nd....last week. My first days I…

I have a very old Panasonic bread maker....it works great but makes only a smaller 1 lb. loaf. I just follow the recipes that came with the machine and never have problems. There are lots of books at the library for special recipes too. One of the keys I found is to use fresh ingredients....not stuff that has been sitting…

I was horrified about the pre-op liquid diet, my support group kind of made a big deal about it...but I didn't have a problem with it...at least I got something to eat! I discovered how much I liked the Progresso Light Soups I was supposed to eat..even if they were blended, they still tasted great. The biggest thing I…

Hi, I'm David from the Twin Cities in Minnesota....USA. I had my sleeve done on May 12, 2014. I am doing fine, looking forward to moving on from the pureed foods to soft foods on June 10th. Since I started with the bariatric group in St. Paul, MN I have lost nearly 55 pounds so far. I follow their instructions as closely…

Try a Premier Protein Shake, vanilla, chocolate or strawberry....each 11 oz has 30g protein. Find at Sam's Club or Costco or look up other sources at the Premier website. Beneprotein unflavored powder can be found at Wal Mart in a small can. It can be mixed with many foods and beverages to up your intake. Good luck!

The answer to your question should come from a discussion with your doctor, the clinic's psychologist and your significant other....not from members of MFP. Everyone's situation and health issues are unique. I believe you are not ready for the surgery if you are not at this point 100% committed to the process. At the…

Hello everyone, I'm new here to this board. I am on day ten of the two week pre-op diet. My surgery is next Monday, May 12th. I work with the HealthEast Bariatric Care group in St. Paul, Minnesota. The two week diet for me is a protein shake for each meal plus Progresso Light Soups, sugar free apple sauce, 100 calorie…

I recall the Weight Watcher's website has some ideas for cooking a big batch of food and eating it all week. Check there, you can see these without being a member, but you'll have to search for them. Thanks for posting your recipe and thanks to all the other ideas here too.

Yes, I am looking at this. ...inspired here. Thank you.

I take turkey burgers instead, buy light hamburger buns. You can find lighter versions of brats (also made with turkey). I found the price of store made cold salads to be expensive so I made my own the week before I left using recipes from Weight Watchers. They have great potato salad and macaroni salad recipes available.…
