  • Hi Sheena. Welcome:flowerforyou: This is a great place to come if you want to start eating right and lose weight in the process. Everyone here is wonderful. You will get lots of help and lots of encouragement. I think the first 3 or 4 days is the hardest, so if you can get past that, you're on your way. Glad your here.…
  • I am a fan of the man, Michael Jackson.
  • Hi kaleigh. Welcome to MFP.:flowerforyou: You will like it here. My tips are, to come here EVERYDAY. Record in your diary EVERYDAY. Try to sit down in the morning, or the night before, and plan out and record(in your diary) all the food you're going to eat for the day. Keep the calories under the MFP recommended daily…
  • Hello. Welcome!:flowerforyou: Come back everyday and enter your food, for the day, in your diary. It really helps to see, and keep track, of the calories and nutrients. Good luck!
  • Welcome! This is a great place for help and motivation. Here's to your upcoming weight loss.:drinker:
  • Welcome Brian. This site IS great. It not only helps you keep track of the food you eat, calories, fat, protein, etc., the support is awesome. You won't regret being here. BTW congratulations on quitting smoking. :)
  • I've never taken vitamins before. I've tried but they make me nauseous. Right now I'm trying 1/2 multivitamin and I'm taking a potassium supp. I don't get any where near the potassium I should. So far the 1/2 vitamin is not making me sick. I figure 1/2 is better than none.
  • That's exactly I feel. I try to eat what I'm "suppose" to but I don't beat myself up if I eat a little extra or if I "give in" to a temptation food. My eating habits were sooooo bad before, a little cheating now and then is not going to hurt me.
  • I would tell HER everything you just told us. (or let her read the post. Maybe she'll get the hint) Maybe she doesn't think you care that she behaves the way she does. If talking to her doesn't help, do you need her to be your roommate? If she keeps doing all the things you're saying, you are going to be miserable and one…
  • 1) I wish I was busy at work right now 2) I wish I didn't LOVE junk food so much. 3) I wish I wasn't old. 4) I wish I had a car 5)I wish you realized you ARE doing the best job raising your kids. Ok. I have a lot of serious wishes but this is for fun.
  • Welcome silvercad. I haven't been here long either but I love it. It helps so much. I also have the app and I'm glad I do. You said "you hope you can stick it out". You CAN, you absolutely CAN with all of the support and motivation you are going to get in here. Good luck to you.
  • Hi and Welcome. :flowerforyou: You will like it here. MFP is soooooo much better than Jenny and it doesn't cost anything. I know what you mean about gaining your weight back after Jenny. Been there-done that....several times. Good luck to you. BTW-if you have an iphone or Droid(I think), get the MFP app because it helps a…
  • What is Zumba? I've seen this word throughout the forum so it must be popular. Can it be done at home and can someone older(me) do it?
  • Hi Amy. Welcome! Recording the foods you're going to eat, for the day, really helps. You don't have to be on a strict diet to lose weight. Just keep your calories, carbs, fat, protein, etc., totals under(or at) the correct amounts. Don't ever feel that you have to buy into any of those weight loss diets that you have to…
  • Congratulations. You WILL live a long and healthy life. Looks like you can do anything you put your mind to. I'm going to follow you on your weight loss twitter.
  • Thanks guys. These are great!
  • Welcome.:flowerforyou: I have been here 1 week and I love it. It works! Everyone is friendly and helpful and very supportive. Watch out though, you may become addicted. :)
  • Hi. Did you just start your "diet"? I ask because your tracker says you've lost 0 lbs, just like mine. Today is day 6 for me. The first 3 and half days were killer on my stomach. I couldn't get rid of my hunger. (if it was hunger) Yesterday and today are much better. Before starting to eat right, I never ate meals. I was a…
  • Welcome. This site is not only easy to use, but it has all kinds of support. If you have an iphone, there is an app for that also. A must for me because I have my pre-charted foods, for the day, at my fingertips no matter where I am. Good luck on your journey, and remember, we are all on this journey together.
  • I haven't looked at your diary but I know chinese food has A LOT of salt. I retain water and if I eat chinese food, especially at night, I am doubly swollen in the morning.
  • Congratulations. 2 lbs in 1 week is great. I would do a happy dance too.:drinker: (<<drinking juice)
  • I have probably been on every diet there is. They all have the same thing in common. They all restrict calories and they all cost a lot of money. You can cut calories on your own, and with a free website like MFP, you can keep track of your calories and lose just as much weight as if you PAID for one of those programs.…
  • I have it also and it helps tremendously. The only thing I would like to see added to the app is this forum.
  • I'm not sure about this but the lack of sodium makes sence. While my sodium totals are just barely below what the MFP charts say, prior to 4 days ago I was probably eating thousands of milligrams of salt with constant junk food eating.
  • By "insanity" do you mean you started dieting? Or is that a workout? If you're talking about dieting, I just started 4 days ago and I had a super headache for 2 days. If you're talking about a workout, sorry can't help. Other than riding a bicycle, I'm not working out...yet.
  • Congratulations. :flowerforyou:
  • This is so true. I re-started eating right a couple of days ago. I literally threw away all junk food that I had in my house. (I live alone so no one missed it). I've been wanting to start for about a month now but the cookies and chips, etc. kept calling to me...and I answered. The ONLY way I can be successful is if I…
  • I didn't know about the "eat within an hour of waking up" rule. I wait until 10:00 or 11:00 to eat breakfast so I can spread the rest of my meals out during my work hours (2 to 11). At work is where I do the most damage when not eating right. Pizza, cookies, chips, etc. So I take my other 2 meals and several [legal] snacks…
  • Congratulations!
  • Thanks for this topic. I was wondering what some of these meant.
