  • Go for it, if you are worried about the 200 calories, hit the treadmill first and work them off. I like to look at the heart rate monitor and figure out what I've worked off. 140 calories can of coke, 200 calories Peanut Butter cup, 330 scotch egg, etc. Keeps me entertained
  • So I think I have a couple of dozen other running questions that I could either ask people and get the usual mix of "expert" answers for or do some research. Does anyone know of a good web site or ten, for novice runners?
  • I used to do ad-hoc tech support at an office owned but a male lawyer that had 27 female employees. He only worked 9-12 in the office and the rest of the time at home. I used to wonder why it was till I had to spend 2 days listening to these women, really, can there be that much drama, for all of you, all of the time, that…
  • Do you go and ask the HS first or just use the field when no one is around? I figure I should stop in and ask
  • I used to respond "The bathroooms need cleaning, you can take care of that if you have a few minutes"..... oddly they found something that needed doing.
  • I just pick up the phone, start dialing and say to them "Excuse me", they always look really guilty and leave, or I turn the radio up, hell I have an office, I can put my radio on a bit louder :)
  • Put a note in the fridge "To who ever is stealing my lunch. One in three lunches now include ex-lax. Do you feel lucky today?"
  • I know someone that this particularly annoyed. I kept a spare frozen fish meal in the office freezer just for days that they pissed me off!
  • I had an epiphany yesterday about my running. I was doing it on the treadmill when I got up and it was hard work. Then I had a couple of lazy mornings so decided to do it when I got in from work and it was much much easier. I finally realized that I wake up all congested, when I did the run in the morning I couldn't…
  • I'm trying to think of an appropriate side dish for that?
  • Throw in some unlimited fries and all those 1200 calorie eaters who want to follow the Dr. Oz skip breakfast can take care of there calories in one sitting
  • But how many calories, and is it in the MFP Database?
  • Its a treat, just treat it as one..... if you want to feel better than me, I was inspired by the Junk Food posts recently and I had a McDonalds for dinner and a couple of smirnoffs tonight, still way in on calories :)
  • You are going to get conflicting answers on this which suggests to me there is no right answer. My opinion is that I aim to be under my non-exercise calories but I don't get upset about what I eat until I exceed the exercised calorie count. So long as you put out more calories than you put in then you will lose weight it…
  • You could, but the daily weigh in payoff only happens in 9 months where I guarantee you'll drop more than 2lbs in one week
  • Only had one piercing, PA... tore it out, nothing ruins the mood like that much blood

  • Someone here needs to help me out, I've got all the references so far except the negative calorie ones, is there a nice detailed scientific description of this miracle anti-energy? :)
  • There was a bit on the C25k website that says "run slowly, if you can run anymore slowly you are probably running to fast", it says stamina first, speed will come. It is much easier to get the times up if you slow up a little.
  • No, if you eat less you gain weight, you have to eat more to not starve, so to gain weight you need to not eat
  • We plan to use the gym and the running track to counter the food. We tried to use the stairs but my wife's love of the apple martini's and her high heels soon put a stop to that :D We have some of those Brita filter water bottles that we plan to take, hopefully it will get rid of that nasty tasting ship water.
  • This is Carnival which we have done about half a dozen cruises on, and while there is some local fare, there is a lot of stock dinig options that come up regardless of where they are visiting, I would have thought someone would have put something together. *hopefully* lol Maybe I need to print out the MFP database LMAO,…
  • I know they have the light menus, but restaurants in a lot of states now have to publish calories, sodium, etc.. I was hoping someone knew if the cruise lines were?
  • Another 12 oz for the coffee? So that means you have to get 24oz for the same 12oz that you'd normally have, sounds dubious to me but I'm not the expert. As far as I'm concerned liquid is pretty much liquid. Have you tried drinking while exercising, I knock out 2 cups while exercising for 30 minutes in the humidity we have…
  • I think the polar calculates by the time at specific heart rates where as the online ones just do an average, for example when I warm up/down I am burning about 10-12 calories a minute, when running its much higher so the average doesn't work right.
  • I started Wednesday, supposed to train every other day, so I'm not sure what to put in the other days, so I'm doing it every day till I figure it out, day 1 twice, day 2 twice etc.

  • Thats "expensive" bread, the stuff I eat is 50 calories a slice?
  • Bread isn't bad. I take two sandwiches a day to work since a slice of turkey, two slices of good bread and some spread and low fat mayo comes to 140 calories. I'm losing at a healthy rate.
  • I don't know if the HRM are the same but this web site shows an example of how to do it, with formulas http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/heart-rate-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx
  • Isn't that a criticism from every generation about the next?
