Does she even lift?

In my spin class this morning, one of the participants was saying how much success she'd had with ACV. The spin instructor then started talking about detoxing. I groaned loudly, my friends.

I got really toned arms by flyswatting an hour a day for 4 weeks.
-
*Applause* What a heartening story (pun intended).

Simple. You do you. Sod what others think.

14lbs down in 4 weeks for me. That's a little faster than I'd planned. I've been aiming for a 1.5lbs pw loss and I've been eating half my exercise calories back. I think I'll see what happens over the next few weeks and if it's still at that rate, I'll increase the proportion of exercise calories I eat back.

Ah ok. Your post read like you were responding to mine. My apologies.

Hmm. There was a time when I'd do anything for a Snickers bar. At least it had nuts in it.

On the other hand, one of the joys of going hell for leather in the gym is that even after entering 50% of my calories (which I do by halving my times), I think that I have some spoonlicking, chilli-tasting, pasta-testing ballast on the calorie front.

Oh I know. I was strutting around today, I can tell you. ;) ;) ;)

Eh? As things stand, all of those studies you found through PubMed show that we shouldn't be worried about consuming NNS.

Interesting thought. Today is the first day I've "connected" but until I read your post, didn't think of it in that way. I got into an old pair of 36" waist 501's before putting a lightweight coat on that I haven't worn over the winter and thought, "this fits me better". Unlike you, it gave me a real boost. I hope you'll…

No. The bolded bit is the problem. When it comes to science, use databases like https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed - Google is too indiscriminate.

Inspirational! Incredible transformation in 4m.

Truly, truly awesome!

LOL. Posts deleted. Sensitive souls. Anyway. Good point. I haven't eaten *kittens* since I went veggie 25 years ago.
-
Me too. Apart from when I absolutely murdered that hummus.

I find not beating myself up is the perfect anti-donut.

That's a *asparagus* *cat* not a *asparagus* *kitten*

I see what you did there.

All of the ratios of "as prepared" to "serving" are around 0.59. What happens is that adding 150ml of water to the contents of the sachet results in a drink that's about 170ml in volume. In other words, the volume of the contents of the sachet amounts to about 20ml when dissolved. Then 100ml of made up drink contains…

The rate we get this sort of question on these fora makes me think that the site should be renamed "MyFatnessPill".

I've eaten a plant-based diet for the last 8 years for ethical and environmental reasons. In fact, there's an argument that dairy farming involves more animal cruelty than meat farming. I wish everyone would avoid eating animal products but I'm enough of a realist to know that humans enjoy meat, dairy and eggs too much for…

Ah but plenty more are not. I use Barnivore a lot. Here in the UK, a lot of supermarkets also mark wines as being vegan or vegetarian. The fact that I'm checking the info on labelling gives me a good idea of how common vegetarian and vegan wines are. They are getting increasingly common but are still in the minority, vegan…

Just a point about booze - spirits (whisky, vodka etc) are usually vegan but wines are usually NOT vegan or even vegetarian. Many (if not most) wines are cleared with milk, pig- and horse-derived gelatin or isinglass which is fish-derived. The same goes for cask beers and lagers. Filtered, bottled beer is usually OK but…

From my understanding of the literature, here are a few possible primary roles that genetic factors could play in obesity:* Satiation - a genetic predisposition to overeat OR a lack of a genetic predisposition to eat appropriately * Body composition - genetic factors that mean LBM is more difficult to build/maintain or…

Consuming sugar(s) doesn't "cause" diabetes. The best possible protection against DM is to not be overweight/obese which you can achieve by eating anything as long as calorie consumption is less than calorie expenditure and then maintain your "healthy" weight by keeping your consumption roughly equal to expenditure.…
-
With regards to the bolded bits above, the science says otherwise. Ignore that sort of woo and as all the sensible posts have said above, make sure your calorie intake is less than what you expend.
