A heart rate monitor is TOTALLY worth it!!! I got a polar ft4 from heartratemonitorsusa.com. It was the cheapest polar ft4 I found and I LOVE mine.

1) Yes. You can most definitely use P90X effectively. It's going to be hard as hell at first and you're GOING to want to give up. But if you push through those first couple weeks the results are just incredible. Definitely follow the nutrition macros that P90X suggests. It makes a huge difference. 2) I'm on my second round…

I'm going through the same exact thing. I started graduate school last year and it seems that a lot of the people who are part of my graduate program revolve their social lives around drinking and smoking. It's really hard for me to have a good time when I'm trying to resist the temptation to let myself loose - whether it…

This sounds incredible...it's probably a no-go on my low carb thing - but I'm definitely going to need to check this out later :)

There is an ice cream shop 2 1/2 hours north of me that has UNBELIEVABLE homemade ice cream. I'm getting them to cater the dessert for my wedding :)

@facingforty Dear lord I wish I had your eyes!! You're gorgeous! It makes me feel like my blue eyes are wayyy not cool enough, haha :)

I'm currently doing P90X and Insanity simultaneously - I'll still be in full force in november! Feel free to add me if you'd like :)

I don't think there is any "best" ab exercise. I think the best way to target your abs is with variety. Planks are a fantastic way to target your abs, but if you do want a nice set of abs, you're going to have to do more than just a few planks a day. If you really like planks, I personally recommend throwing some pushups…

Here's a great exercise for lower abs (although it works all of them!!): Lay down on your back with your legs out straight and flex your feet. Raise one leg STRAIGHT in the air (toe pointed toward the wall behind you) - no bend in the leg, keeping the foot flexed. Raise the other leg a couple inches off the ground, foot…

I'm currently finishing up week two of doing P90X and Insanity simultaneously! It's brutal! Feel free to friend me if you'd like :) I'm very dedicated!

I honestly stay away from protein powders you can get at walmart or costco. It's just worth the extra couple bucks to get a higher quality brand. The problem with protein powders at grocery stores is that they do not have the full range of amino acids required for muscle building. You want a more robust powder. I use…

Hmm maybe the almond milk makes a big difference. I tried this with water and it was GROSS. I had to choke it down - and I LOVEEEE pumpkin :( Maybe I'll try again with the almond milk this time...

Haha, what can I say, they're hard to contain!

I do all of the reps - plus some >.< But it took awhile to get there! See, when you're a P90X grad, it's GORGEOUS, bro :P
-
Ohhhh hell no! :P I don't drink - how do you think I would have gotten these guns otherwise? :D
-
@kara Fruity mixed drinks :P Sorry to stereotype!

I agree. You could try following the P90X diet plan if you want. I've had huge success with it following the "fat shredder" ratios (30% carbs, 20% fat, 50% protein).

Well just kidding - thinking about it now, you could always do all of those on your knees!!
-
There are some DVDs where I think it could give you a real problem - but you always have the option to modify! Plyometrics for example is all jump training (kind of like insanity - just not as hard) - but you always have the option to do a step move rather than a jump! You'll just have to try out the different DVDS and…

Wash from Firefly :D ...or Spiderman. It's a tough call.

I'm 5'2" and my heaviest weight was 148, but I floated around 130-135 when I first joined MFP. I'm now down to 119 and I'm looking to lose the last 4 stubborn pounds! Feel free to add me!!

I'm getting married at the end of September 2013! I'm going wedding dress shopping next week (SOOOOOO NERVOUS!!!). All brides feel free to friend me!! How are you ladies working to get in shape for the big day? I'm doing P90X and Insanity with my fiance (including following the evil macros) :) We love it! I've seen AWESOME…

If you have P90X, I would say try going for that again, even though you say that you can't keep up. I couldn't keep up at first either - but I wrote down what I COULD do in the amount of time that they're doing it and the next time I did the video, I tried to do one more rep. You'll be SHOCKED at how quickly you progress!…

I know tons of people who swear by shakeology. If it weren't so expensive, that's the route I would go.

You can add me if you'd like! I'm on the second week of doing P90X and Insanity simultaneously :)

bump!

Feel free to friend me!! I'm in the second year of a PhD program in molecular biology - staying fit in graduate school is a pain in the butt. I find the only way I can do it is by waking up at 4:30 AM every day and by avoiding all the free food, haha.

If you google "p90x calendar" you can find the order in which to do the workouts. Feel free to friend me too! I'm a p90x grad and I'm currently on week two of doubling up p90x and insanity :) I think p90x offers plenty of modifications that you can do to keep from injuring yourself further. I say go for it! Just make sure…
