I couldn't agree with this more. Each child's pallet varies, same as with adults. I would **SO** ask the parents. My child loves healthy food, beans of any kind, adores any kind of veg-based soup, most fruits, nuts, etc. However, she has been raised having these incorporated into her diet. I don't think you could really…

This sounds lovely. I cannot wait to try it! I will prob include onion and garlic too.

this 1 is healthy and 1 my entire family now prefers over sweet potato casserole: and that is...just a baked sweet potato. The 'secret' is baking @ 250 degrees for about 3 hours. The inside gets velvety smooth. I top mine with salt, pepper, and butter. I don't consider butter to be unhealthy unless the portion is too large.

I honestly think people dislike obesity being referred to as a disease due to the societal discrimination and shaming of obese individuals. Consider what you said here: The same could be said about lupus, but ya don't hear people saying it isn't a disease.

i just flat out love this question from the interview: "Your fridge looks like it belongs to Satan. What are we looking at here?"

if you have a crockpot...you are set! Use that freezer!! make recipes and don't cut them down but freeze leftovers into individual portions. It makes eating during midterms and finals so much easier too. (Midterms are pretty much here too, eeek!!!) i don't like freezing potatoes though...they get grainy.

Hi, We homeschool! Our daughter is 5. I wouldn't say it is really a part of our curriculum, but we have begun having family walks on a regular basis and we all love them. We also don't allow tv until after 8 pm. Therefore, daytime is for learning, playing, dancing, running, creativity, exploring, etc. I feel like this…

There are some days I work in a lab and due to parking I must walk a mile each way. Most of the time it is really hot here, so by the time I get to work I'm a hot mess. I have walking clothes. Then I change into work clothes, re-do my hair, etc. It works for me this way. [/quote] I work in a professional environment, so…

I'm gonna guess you are a Doctor Who fan. :) :) I'm a grad student too. Add me!

*kitten* the people saying it won't do any good. Eat at a caloric deficit and walk 30 minutes a day. I guarantee in two months your body will be different. I bet you'll feel better too.

awesome work :) I esp like you in the green sweater!

if you're able to find a good thrift store, it can be incredible. I went to Jamaica for two weeks this summer and needed professional but obviously light weight clothes. I was able to purchase the majority of my professional/Jamaican wardrobe at the thriftstore which included skirts, blouses, linen pants, and a dress. I…

how cute are you, omg! you have and *DO* work hard. Maintenance success is something rarely shared on here and I luv that you did. You inspire so many of us!! ((hugs))

Keep posting your food. It really works and contributes to success. I have a tier system. 1st tier: eat healthy, 2nd tier: fit in whatever I'm eating to be within by carb and/or calorie goals, 3rd tier: accepting that overages will occur I like aqua's reply so much, I feel it is worth reposting.

i will put the serving size at the end of the recipe's title if it's something i am going to forget.

quoting from this article, "did young Captain Kirk look like he had a weight problem"........uuuum yeah he did and is rumored to have wore a girdle on set. I'm sorry I can't take anyone's word when they don't even know basic sci-fi.

puree any kind of fruit and your yogurt of choice. pour into Popsicle molds and freeze. I do this as a way of getting rid of soon to expire fruit and/or yogurt. My daughter feels like she is getting a popsicle and I feel like she's getting a healthy snack = Win-win in my book.

i wholeheartedly 2nd the roasted seaweed. they are crazily addictive. My fav is Annie Chun's sesame roasted seaweed. I purchase a case at a time from Amazon. Each pack is 60 cals, 1 carb, & fulfills that salty crunch want. They are at Asian markets around here. The are prob @ whole foods and trader joe's but I dont have 1…

You may be obese, but you are far far from ugly. You are quite lovely! What helped me stay focused during my plateaus (which happens, they just do) is I began taking measurements. Even if the scale wasn't moving I could still see inch loss each month. It really helps psychologically to see that. I swear by mini goals. I am…

just stay within your suggested caloric recommendations via MFP these sites are great : happyherbivore.com & http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/ do a search under groups on MFP for vegan. there are many vegan groups on here!

i was served some salmon last week that was fantastic. I watched it be prepared. Lemon juice, couple shots of Worcestershire, s&p, and brown sugar. it marinated for maybe 20 mins. It was then grilled. It wasn't this super fancy sauce it just seemed to elevate the salmon. The salmon was purchased a couple hours before…

The reason is that this site is about losing weight, not necessarily about being healthy. You can eat at a caloric deficit just having snickers all day long and lose weight. I personally love all kinds of veggies and fruit, but I think if some1 isn't inclined toward having those things in their diet it is probably better…

your captors must have been treating you well bc you look awesome!

you will prob get different answers on this 1. I personally do not count housework as exercise. (Granted, DH would prob have to tell me where the iron is located.) I don't consider housework to be exercise; it is a part of living/functioning and to be honest, what I do around the house has contributed to my current…

i like to use music to push myself through. I will purposefully tack on a long 5 min song at the end of an interval. I just focus on the song, the lyrics, staying with the beat, and it passes...ya make it through. Don't beat yourself up. If you stay on w5 for a few weeks, that is still awesome. If you just feel like…

I have one to share that isn't listed: roasted seaweed. Tried some this week and they are practically carb free. I just ordered some from amazon.

i have half n half & measure what i put into my coffee. w milk i end up using more calories than half n hjalf to make it taste right. I'm a coffee every morning kind of person.

i do it for convenience too! In the car in the morning during the week, I eat boiled eggs that I make sunday night. With my boiled eggs I either have ham, bacon, or fruit. I set my coffeemaker the night before. Lunch at work is either leftovers or food I made and froze into individual portions in the freezer like soup, all…

i cannot specifically attest to their 550 calorie menu, but I have had shrimp prepared multiple ways from there and was pleased. It looks like others like their shrimp too. The last time we went, I tried one of my daughter's fries and thought it was just way too salty. I would like to highly recommend the cooked spinach w…
