  • My stats probably won't help since I'm 69 years old but I'll chime in anyway. 5'2.5" and maintaining at 128-131 lbs for almost 4 years, lost 50 lbs. I eat around 1750-1850ish with a few undocumented bites here and there. I hit between 20K-23K steps per day which includes walking every day and gym 3Xs per week (cardio +…
  • Yeah, we're still here -- welcome again! I'm also sitting over here; still maintaining. It has been quite for a bit. All call for check ins! How about it ladies? Anybody else still out there?
  • I'm 5'2.5" with a medium frame and sitting at a range of 128 to 131 for the last 4 years. However I am a senior at age 69. I feel comfortable where I am; wouldn't mind dropping a bit more but can't seem to worry about it too much. Lost 50 lbs over a 15 month period. I think I look normal -- not too skinny and not too…
  • Aging is a factor however losing weight when you're older is certainly achievable. I started when I was 64, took 15 months to lose 50lbs and in maintenance for close to 4 years now. Don't even try to keep up with your sister -- your needs are different from hers. Find an exercise program that enhances your chances to stay…
  • I'm 69 and all low impact activity works best for me. I have the normal aches and pains of a senior citizen but I have to say that I feel pretty good. The only accommodations I've had to make is to stop my Body Pump classes due to a recent health issue caused by lifting. I'm limited to no more than 10lbs, no squatting,…
  • I had sleep problems for years but it was because of my weight. I was on the sleeping pill merry-go-round for a few years, had sleep studies, saw several ENTs who diagnosed Sleep Apnea (mild). Tried every over the counter med available. My doctor prescribed Ambien but had horrible nightmares. Switched to Lunesta, it worked…
  • 7 days active -- averaging 9 miles a day. Walk, Tai Chi, cardio classes 3Xs per week at gym. Can't do weights anymore do to old lady issues. 69 years old. Average 20K+ steps per day (includes all exercise). I'll rest when I'm dead.
  • Some time between 9PM USA EST and Midnight last night (Friday) my exercise calories finally synced. It seems to be working now. Fingers crossed.
  • Something's going on with MFP & Fitbit. I found this in Help -- but MFP hasn't acknowledged there's a sync problem yet. My exercise calories are not showing up on MFP since this morning and a couple of days ago they doubled. Android app and website not syncing since 10/19 update & malware in MyFitnessPal ads herlaa84 — Oct…
  • @making_tracks - great pics! You look awesome!
  • Brilliant transformation! Your post is very inspiring. Many of us are so concentrated on the weight loss alone while placing the mind/body/spirit balance second. Your post inspires us all to remember to create balance in our lives to live our best life. Weight loss is only one component; you've shown us the way to balance.…
  • A perfect non scale victory! Congrats!
  • Hi, @mph323, thanks for adding your inspiring weight loss story too, and to your beautiful healthy life. Welcome to the thread.
  • I don't do keto, I count calories, stay within my daily allowance, and eat whatever I want using portion control. But since you asked for any thoughts on it, here's mine. I prefer a more balanced split of protein, fat, & carbs. I tried doing lower carbs but found I was out of energy too frequently. Once I added some carbs…
  • Consistency works for me. I consistently hit the gym 3 days a week; I block my gym schedule in on my appointment calendar and schedule other appointment around those gym times/dates. Drink a ton of water. Walk everywhere I can; move, move, move. Wear my Fitbit 24/7 unless showering or swimming. Love that thing. Clock…
  • So nice to hear from all the new people and have updates from those who've been around this thread for a long time. I'm turning 69 years old this month and I'm so grateful that I lost close to 50 lbs. Maintenance has been good though I still have to log and weigh food. I so suck at guesstimating portion sizes. My portions…
  • Girl, you're a rock star! Now get yourself strong; rest and recover because you've earned it.
  • All good in my world. Hanging in with maintenance, almost 4 years now (3 yrs 8 mo to be exact, but who's counting, ha, ha. I am for sure.) Cheers!
  • Please update us post surgery to let us know how you're doing.
  • My husband is 6 months out of spinal surgery (L4-5, S1). He was in constant pain from bulging discs that had deteriorated so much that the surgeon had to pick out the pieces. He could barely get out of bed let alone stand and walk without a cane and then a walker; a wheelchair was next on the horizon. Post surgery and…
  • Hey, @countrycreek! Time for a bump! Anybody out there?
  • Age wasn't a factor for me. I turn 69 next month, lost approximately 50 lbs (fluctuations) and have maintained for 3+ years now. I lost those pounds over a 15 month period. Even in maintenance I still weigh myself every day and log every day using a food scale. A 30 lb loss since May is fantastic so congrats.
  • So awesome that you need to change your name. . . no chubby face any longer! Congrats and kudos for sharing your story. You're an inspiration.
  • Yes, we're in South Florida and he does have other health issues including age. Additionally, his shoulder was completely mangled from scar tissue and tears and that added hours to the surgery.
