  • Agreed, work out but not intensely, go for a nice walk! I've seen the advice recently that if it's in the head, workout, if it's lower (ie chest cold) take a break!
  • I started at 298 and I rarely eat all of my exercise calories back. I try to keep my net close to 1200, but generally speaking I'm a zigzagger. I think the larger you are the more you can get away with not eating them back. As you get closer to goal you should not only eat them all, but when you hit a plateau, change your…
  • I actually spoke to a nutritionist about this very thing. I was telling her (it's someone I work with, I didn't "pay" to go to one) that I feel like I'm going to stick with it this time because I'm actually working through the illnesses. Then I confessed that I've started this journey MANY times before and it's usually…
  • Everyone is different. I would personally go crazy having to wait for a certain day to do it! I actually go to sleep everynight giddy like a school girl because after 110 days, I've got this down to a science and I KNOW that I'm going to wake up and be .4-1.0 lb. lighter on most days and I also know when I ate something…
  • Exactly what I do! That's why I have a lot of .8 and .4s in there. I'm in control of it this way, I'm not going a week not knowing there's a problem. If I gain in ONE day, I'm able to INSTANTLY look back at my diary and say "hmm... I stayed good with calories but GOOD LAWD who knew chicken broth had so much sodium!…
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/mexiana Read my last blog post entitled "Cuz I'm makin' change I swear to me" might be helpful for you :) I have different reasons for hanging on for so long, but the reason is still the same, I'm scared. There is a song on the post that is responsible for getting me started. Hope it helps!
  • They have the plain at Sam's club, a LOT cheaper! I got a huge thing of honey too and I measure it out to use with the yogurt lol... I also use the honey in my oatmeal in the morning. 60 calories for 1 tablespoon vs. the 4 teaspoons of sugar I would usually use!
  • This is going to be long, but please read through! That was ME. I've started this thing no less than 50 times in my life. I'd be an all or nothing person too, eat PERFECTLY, exercise daily etc... But then it would happen. I'd have a crazy stressful week at work, or I'd get sick, or whatever may have been the trigger and…
  • I enter it as dancing, but I use my HRM to figure my calories for EVERYTHING I do because MFP can be WAY off when doing calories! ...and always higher than what you are really burning! Be careful!
  • REALLY??? No WONDER I'm still in the same clothes! THANK YOU! *kisses your cheek for the AWESOME info*
  • Very true! I started off well with the calorie portion of it, now I'm working on ways to rid those useless/processed calories. I buy "naturally more" peanut butter that ONLY has peanuts, wheat germ, flaxseed oil, cane sugar, egg whites, honey and flaxseed. I stopped using mayo in my tuna, I now use spinach and artichoke…
  • I've lost 30 and I'm still in the same clothes, although they are A LOT looser! I think in my case, pants were tight to begin with so my size 24's... I probably should have been in 26's... so now I'm actually a size 24 and almost at a 22...... Keep working at it, you'll be buying new clothes soon enough!!
  • You're definitely not eating enough. Also, try starting your morning with some protein and filling GOOD carbs. Oatmeal is excellent, or eggs. If I ate a fruit cup in the a.m. for breakfast I'd still be famished after finishing it. Don't know how close in time you're having the breakfast then the 'morning snack' maybe even…
  • My approach to my weight loss began on January 1st and instead of the ever popular "I'm gonna lose weight this year" I made the following promises to myself: 1. I'm going to drink a MINIMUM of 8 glasses of water a day. (Hard to drink anything else, it's a LOT of water!) 2. I'm going to eat at least the minimum recommended…
  • I'm a former military wife, but I'm also a military BRAT (My dad retired a GYSGT in the USMC) and I have lived my entire life surrounded by Marines, I do not know any different. I am a single mom now, so I do know what it's like to not have an actual body there to help out which happends a lot when a spouse is in the…
  • If you're only eating 1200 calories a day AND working out a lot, try eating back enough of those calories to NET 1200 a day. (NET being food eaten - exercise. if you're burning 600 calories (which can easily be done in a Zumba class) Then your body is only getting 600 calories and it's starving!
  • lol... yes! I see people eating their alloted calories of 1200, but then exercising 500 of them away and they wonder why they aren't losing weight! I can get away with not eating them because of my size, I have 1590 calories a day, so if I burn 300 calories and don't eat any of them back, I'm still over that 1200 mark…
  • I think that's a little ridiculous. I'm no professional "trainer" or anything else having to do with weight loss. HOWEVER... I HAVE lost 30 pounds since January 1st of this year and I can pretty much guarantee you that not only have I had carbs after 2, sometimes I've had them after 6! ....and by sometimes I mean every day…
  • I did cut out soda and juice, but not on purpose. One of my goals was to drink AT LEAST 8 glasses of water a day. REALLY hard to get any more of anything else in when you're drinking that much water! Also, soda has been what has derailed me countless times before, it's very much addictive. I'm to the point now though that…
  • @Levedi Thanks! I've been down this road many many times. NEVER has it been so simple and never have I had so much success and NEVER have I stuck with it for so long. It's really gonna happen this time and it feels like heaven!

  • Eat more calories and spread them throughout the day, a little something every 3 hours if you can, it will speed your metabolism, but ONLY if you're eating over that 1200 mark! Even more so if you exercise and eat back enough to AT LEAST have your net over 1200 .
  • Because you only have 28 pounds to lose, I'd try changing your settings to 1 pound a week vs. two. The smaller you are the slower it comes off. Look around, I've seen this advice a LOT from people who have done it and suddenly the weight started melting off again! (and not necesarily just one pound a week either!)
  • All you can do is log it and go back to heathy choices tomorrow! I had a similar thing happen yesterday. Went out to the beach to see the supermoon, stopped at McDonald's, had a couple chicken wraps no sauce for a normal sized 470 calorie dinner. Well, come 9, while near the same McDonald's, the kids had to use the…
  • I'm looking now to see what to get next, The Biggest Loser one gives good workouts... but is it fun?? I want to concentrate more on the "beating the game" then the "Holy Ike I can't breathe, this is WORK!" Thanks
  • HOW are you losing it that fast is the question? You lost it quick the first time, but you also put it back on pretty fast. Yo-yo-ing is bad. If you're losing it by eating healthy foods and changing the way you eat permanently, in a way you can live with and not feel deprived, then if it comes off quick more power to ya!…
  • I WISH someone would tell me! It's not all the time, but when I do indulge in a cupcake (for my child's birthday!) or pizza out one night, I'd rather see a "Be careful with that sodium!" than a "GREAT JOB!" Personally though, I'm only looking at people's diary's if they are asking for help with them, or if I know the…
  • Pedicure, manicure, treat yourself! New haircut, MASSAGE!!!! Facial!!!
  • Hilarious and TRUE!!!!! Love it!
  • OH MY! Exercise in general gets your bowels moving, I don't usually have to run to the bathroom DURING a workout but I definitely go more often. Think about it, did you add a lot of fruit and veggies to your day? More fiber = more 'movement' there  PLUS moving your body more makes the bowels move more. Where do you…
