Be mindful of the amounts of calories burned that MFP gives you. They're notoriously too high. When I counted exercise calories I only counted 50% of the calories it gave me.

Yesterday I weighed myself and I was 164, today I'm 166. It happens and it will go back down. I'm not concerned. What your experiencing is normal

My go-to lately has been Flat Out pizza. I use the Flat Out wrap and put light alfredo, shredded chicken, sun dried tomatoes and cheese. If I have it I'll put some spinach on there too. Bake at 325 for 11 minutes. So yummy. My daughter does Flat Out with sugar free BBQ sauce, shredded chicken and cheese. You can do…

I make sure to hit calories and protein and let the rest fall where it may

You can't be in a deficit and build muscle. If you're cutting, you'll want to maintain the muscle you have. Bulking is for building muscle. I agree with estherdragon, you might want to try recomp

I've written my own workouts in the past but this was after years of doing other workouts, hours of watching videos and reading articles and looking to the experts. I do still occasionally do my own workouts when I want to shake things up. Also, I agree with the others on the "keep your body guessing" belief. It's not…

One of the biggest things I've learned while in maintenance is to weigh yourself every day. Have an absolutely-will-not-go-over weight and if you creep over it, tighten things up. The problem with weight loss is the loss part is easy, the maintaining the loss is the hardest. You've got this!
-
So you've been losing steadily since the beginning of the year but haven't lost in the last few weeks and you just need to lose 2 more pounds? I just want to make sure I completely understand the situation. Those last pounds are a *kitten* to lose and your diet has to be completely on point and tightened up toward the end.…

I know its easy for me to say that your weight is just one tool in an entire tool box, but I also know its not that easy for some people. I did not weigh myself at first and I wish I had because I can only guess at where I started and how much I've really lost. I *think* I started weighing after I lost 10 pounds, but I…

I'm loving this thread. My rant this week is the refrigerator at work. It conked out. Friday I lost my entire, carefully calculated lunch (I eat a macro based diet). Had to eat out. I wasn't happy. The fridge didn't get fixed until today, which meant I had to pack unrefrigerated lunches. I try to eat pretty clean, which…

I'm so glad there are other people like me! I'm 51 and could definitely lose another 10lbs but I really want to build more muscle and just enjoy a little extra food. I've been conflicted for months.

I worked out six days a week for 15 months and it worked, but my body couldn't take it. Rest days are just as important as workout days.
-
Yes! Weigh yourself everyday. I have a weight that I absolutely, positively will not allow myself to go over. If I do (which I haven't yet), I will cut calories again.
-
To me maintenance is the same as cutting. I still weigh and log my food. I still weigh myself every day. I am having a hard time hitting my calorie goal because I'm full long before my calories run out. So I go with intuitive eating too, knowing that on my husband's days off it will balance out.

To control my arthritis pain. To look good mentally and physically. To be able to lift more than my husband at the gym :D

I don't think you're eating enough calories. A good rule of thumb is your weight times 10-12 (not adding in exercise calories burned). So at the very least you should be eating 1900 calories. Also, are you eating enough carbs to fuel your day?
-
I had a hip replaced during weight loss. It takes calories to heal so make sure you're not eating in a deficit. Your body needs the fuel. Follow your doctor's advice and if you have a physical therapist, do everything he/she says to do.
-
That might be true for weight loss but tell that to my arthritis that doesn't hurt anymore. To the leg of my brand new hip that is now stronger than ever. Everyone should exercise for health reasons. Do you want to be the old woman sitting at the window looking out at the world because you can't get out of your chair by…

Bro science. There is no right or wrong way to lose weight. Cut calories so you're losing 1lb a week (if you're bigger you'll lose more at the beginning). Atkins is just a way to cut calories. Keto is another way to cut calories. Paleo, yet another way to cut calories. Most of us here just eat less, weigh our food and log…

A very easy way to determine your calories if you want to lose weight is multiply your weight by 10. Multiplying by 11 or 12 will also cause weight loss but at a slower rate. I'm 165, I lose best eating 1650 calories.
-
I log my desserts first then plan my day around it :D

Bret Contreras is against cut/bulk cycles and recommends recomp for the average person. He has a lot of posts about it. I'm currently recomping. I have more weight to lose (20lbs or so) but I am so TIRED of eating in a deficit so I decided to try recomp. I know its a long process. I started in January and plan to go to at…

Ironically motivation comes after you start. Once you see results, the motivation will be there to keep you going.

I've never seen personal menus specifically designed for an individual. There is a recipe forum.

Here is the nutrition information https://www.dickeys.com/docs/Dickeys%20Nutritionals_112017.pdf It doesn't list without croutons. Your best bet would be to look up croutons and use a generic brand and subtract from the salad. However, your numbers will be off as you don't know how many croutons they normally put on the…

You could probably lose weight on 1700-1800 calories per day. And make sure you're eating carbs for fuel.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do. Thanks for this post!

If I had a set point it would be 165 pounds. Why? Because that's comfortable for my food consumption. I like eating the amount of calories it takes to maintain 165. I could eat more, but then I would gain weight. I could eat less, but that's uncomfortable, too much effort. So to stay in my comfort zone I eat enough to…
