Weight training burns very little calories, but the benefits are amazing

I gained 5 pounds over the past week. I know it's not fat. I know it's water weight and bad eating. I know it will come off but, man, am I frustrated.

Breakfast is whenever you decide to eat your first meal of the day

If your hypothyroid is medicated right then you will be able to lose weight as easily as anyone with a normal functioning thyroid. I have no thyroid and am losing weight steadily while on medication. Good luck! You can do this!!!!

My go to: Shredded chicken Greek yogurt mixed with chives, dill, onion, salt & pepper and a splash of lemon juice OR salsa Shredded cheese Broken up tortillas This usually comes to about 300 calories. You can always add more of everything to get up to 600 calories. Also, you can eat any meal at 600 calories. Just portion…

2lbs a week is pretty aggressive. If you feel you can't eat that little, don't hesitate to change your goal to 1lb a week. Nothing wrong with that.

This sounds like me a few years ago. I'm 51 now and healthier and in better shape than I was in my 20s. Let me tell you, it feels FABULOUS! Sounds like you have the motivation to do this.

I work full time, have a second job as a writer. I have three kids (two at home) and one 2nd generation kid (some people call them grandkids, I don't) that is at my house a lot. I workout 5 days a week. If you want it bad enough you will find the time for it. I'm not consistently on MFP (because life is BUSY!) but you can…

You also need to weigh the veggies if you want to be accurate
-
Right here is your answer. You need to weigh and log everything and eat at your calorie limit 7 days a week, not just 5 days a week.

I'm in the gym no later than 6am. Never once did I ever think I would be a morning person and yet here I am :)

Cook a big pot of chicken in the CrockPot on Sunday, shred it and eat off it throughout the week. You can make all kinds of different dishes with shredded chicken

See your doctor. Work on getting on the right dosage of medicine. Once that happens you will lose weight like anyone with a normal functioning thyroid.
-
I'm on Levothyroxine too due to a thyroid removal and am losing steadily. I'm not hungry either. Maybe you should get your levels checked and discuss your hunger with your doctor. If your medication is correct, you shouldn't be hungry like that.

I am not a sweat-er. I just don't sweat a lot. But my Apple Watch has my heart rate at 125-145 during my workouts (I know that's not an exact reading but I also know my heart rate is elevated during my workouts) so I know I'm working hard

What kind of bands? The smaller ones that fit above your knees? I use those for almost every leg exercise: squats, deadlifts, glute bridges, hip thrusts, lateral walks, clam shells. I waddle around the gym with them on for most of my workout. I'm sure people think I'm nuts

Nope. I've been following macros for years and calories are king. I eat like this because I want to make sure I get enough protein. So I make sure I'm eating at my calorie limit, I've hit my protein and then I let carbs and fats fall where they will. My daughter is strict with all of her macros because she gets better…

Join the Macros Inc group on Facebook. They are tremendously helpful and will give you your personal macros for free. They also have an extremely supportive community that is all science based.

I don't have Hashimoto's but I also don't have a thyroid and for the first week after my thyroid was removed I was RAVENOUS so I understand what kind of hunger you're talking about. I just kept telling myself that I know how many calories my body needs and that it is getting sufficient calories. That the hunger is because…

I'd give it 4 weeks. If no weight loss then drop your calories by 100 and keep doing that until you find your sweet spot. Of course you need to weigh and log your food accurately. If you're not already doing that, then start there first.

Welcome, Heather! I second what everyone else has said. Also, if you're on Instagram there are so many inspiring and motivating people who have lost hundreds of pounds. fatgirlfedup itty_bitty_britty getfitwjessica

These posts always make me so sad. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed. Be proud that you're getting healthy! I guarantee you that no one is giving you a second thought. I'm a self-proclaimed gym rat. I put my headphones in and concentrate on what I have to do. I'll only notice you if you're hogging all of the equipment (don't…

I eat protein bars daily as a snack and a way to get my protein in, but not the ones you mentioned. Lara Bars are good but not enough protein for the calories. If I'm going to eat 200 calories as a snack then the protein needs to be high enough to balance it out. Right now my go-to protein bar is the Costco brand. My…

If you're stalled in your weight loss then I would lower calories by 100. Really no need to do something as complicated as calorie cycling

I have been obsessed with egg muffins lately. I make enough for the week and pop them in the microwave when I get to work. This is my recipe but you can put whatever you want in it: 4 whole eggs 6 tbsp egg whites 115g diced ham 54g shredded cheddar onion to taste dill to taste chives to taste salt and pepper Bake in muffin…

Amazing!

I make a dish that my kids, when they were younger, named Cockroach Casserole. The name stuck and now it is forever known as Cockroach Casserole :D Note: It is NOT made of cockroaches, but shell pasta, which they thought looked like cockroaches

I don't log my food in MFP (I use a different app for food logging) and I don't lose my streak.
-
Good luck! Remember that even though you are eating in a narrower window its still possible to overeat. Weigh and log your food too.

I'm attempting to recomp so I'm eating 1800 a day (1650 when in a deficit). I eat a macro based diet so you'll see me eat M&Ms nearly every day. However, I'm not as active on MFP as I used to be. I'll hop in a few times a week and I don't log my food on this app.
