Happy Friday! Spent 85 minutes in the gym this morning killing legs and shoulders. Legs are fried! Tomorrow's spin class should be interesting.

To compliment my weight training, i perform HIIT once or twice per week. I do it on my cardio days and perform HIIT for about 30 min of my 60 min cardio session. My goal is to keep my heart rate above 130 bpm for the entire 30 min session. It involves some functional moves, too. It works for me. Here's an example of what i…

I do HIIT once or twice per week. My weight workouts are 5 times per week. But when i do HIIT, i utilize battle ropes, my jump rope, kettle bells, medicine ball, and weighted step box (to use as a weighted sled). I am 40 seconds as hard as i can go, 20 seconds off. I do three to four sets. Here's my routine... 1) Jump rope…

@Melij I have been having similar issues. Here's how I am set up. My Health App feeds MFP my steps for the day. That has been working great with one exception. I am sometimes getting two entries in my Diary for Steps Calorie Adjustment. I don't worry about that too much, though. I have UA record feeding MFP for my workouts…

I've used several. Jetfit and Bodybuilding.com are the best. However, if you change your workout every 4-6 weeks like i do, entering your excercises, sets, reps, etc. is very time consuming. Also, the apps don't have all the exercises you might want to do. I went back to old school...i use a small notebook. Much easier and…

On weekdays, i get up at 3:15 am, brush my teeth, get dressed, and drive to the gym. On my way, i drink a protein shake and pre-workout drink. Nothing complicated or scientific, just get up and get it done.

Like cgvet37 said, caloric deficit and weight training. First get your diet laid out based on your activity levels and workouts. Then create or find a weight training program. I would highly recommend bodybuilding.com to help with developing the nutrition and weight training plans, which will help you reach your goals.

If you have integrated weights into your workouts, i recommend the use of dumbbells. They tend to allow the weak side to 'catch up' with the strong side. At least, that is my experience.

I find rest days are important if you are into lifting weights. A rest day from lifting weights allows the body recover and helps with the soreness. However, on my 'rest' days, I usually do some type of cardio...either HIIT or light, fat burning cardio. I like to call my cardio days..'active resting'.
