From Jim Wendler's website: "For people new to the Boring But Big (BBB) program, I highly, highly recommend starting very light on the lower body assistance work. Even if the weight seems very light and the sets easy, you will be insanely sore from squatting and deadlifting for 5 sets of 10 reps. There is no point in…

Went to the gym today, I did lift a little, but I only did overheads and bicep barbell curls, and I way deloaded on the overheads. OHP: 1x10 @ 20lbs, 5x5 @ 30lbs, it was important to me that I had excellent form and didn't over extend my back or anything. Curls: 4x10 @ 20lbs, not a big deal, but at least it was something.…

Doesn't sound weird to me at all - I really think this injury will help me in the long run to be extra careful with form, and to not go too fast with the lifts. I knew I had been getting close to reaching my max with deads, and I think I should've just taken some time to work on form at a lighter weight instead of just…

Good morning everyone. Today I'll be taking it easy, and probably just do some walking around the track to keep the muscles in my back from getting too stiff. When I woke up this morning it was torture getting out of bed. I've taken the first dose of medicine, and I have 2 more to take, hopefully they'll get me feeling…

@Ariadnula I had my husband as my form checker - he said my form looked okay, but clearly I did something wrong. I look forward to my deload since I know what I'm capable of lifting now, and I can focus more on reps and strengthening the area at more reps at a much lighter weight and really refocus on form. It will be…

@klelk2 I am definitely going to take it easy. I will probably not be doing any squats or deads for a few weeks, if I do any squats they will be very light. I think I'll start focusing on core work, and accessory exercises. Nice work on your lifts! :)

You could always have bulletproof coffee in the morning, which is butter and coconut oil (or MCT oil). It's a good boost in the morning. :) Otherwise, fat bombs are a great supplement, and are a nice little treat.

Anyone can feel free to add me, I'm doing Keto right now. I haven't been logging food on MFP, but I'm going to start again. I have been using cavemanketo.com/keto-meal-plan/ for meal prep.

Today was super disappointing...sort of. Squats - 5x5 @ 105 Bench - 2x5 @ 80, 3x5 @ 75. Don't know what was going on, but 80 felt really heavy, and I think I was just getting distracted by other lifters making weird sounds while they lift. I normally doing pay attention, but there was a guy doing shrugs at the squat rack,…

For yesterday, 4/5 here were my lifts: Squat: 5x5 @ 100lbs (WOOHOO!) Overhead: 5x5 @ 50lbs - going up to 55lb on Saturday, we'll see how it goes. My husband showed me a little tip about shrugging near the top to help get the weight up and engage the traps. It definitely helped me. Deadlifts: 1x5 @ 140lbs. Everything felt…

I'm going to try one by Viva labs, it's 18 dollars for 32 ounces, whereas the XCT oil was around 20 dollars for 16 ounces. I just think MCT is more convenient than trying to scoop out a tablespoon of coconut oil every morning. :) Also, after thinking about it some more, cocoa butter could work, but you would have to have…

I don't really use any supplements - just standard multivitamin, vitamin D, and Fish Oil. Sometimes I make fat bombs if I feel like my macros aren't where I need them to be.
-
My success with cocoa butter hasn't been good, I don't feel like it blends as well as I want it to (of course, it may be the kind I have...) Usually I use 1 Tbsp of Kerrygold grass-fed butter, and 2tbsp of XCT Oil (from bulletproofcoffee.com). XCT is just a MCT oil that is a higher concentrate than regular coconut oil.…

I have had to repeat bench and overhead presses because I definitely hit my strength wall - no shame in repeating! Fortunately my husband and I lift together, so I have a spotter. Before I was lifting, my husband has had to do what he calls the "roll of shame" where he rolled the barbell down to his hips and tipped it onto…

Hit a milestone today with deadlifts! Did 1 plate today, which feels super fancy because I'm not doing the little weights anymore. Squats: 5x5 @ 95 Deadlifts: 1x5 @ 135 (YAY!) Benchpress 5x5 @ 75 New PRs in everything. I don't think I've hit my real strength in squats. Deads felt very heavy and difficult today, but…

What kind of diets are recommended in those books? I'm not familiar with them. I'm currently doing low carb, moderate protein, high fat. Although, I'm beginning to believe that my protein isn't adequate, so I feel generally confused.

@canadianlbs Thanks for the perspective. Yes, it definitely can take over quickly - since I'm not doing SL to be a powerlifter, just to get better with lifting and develop muscle, I shouldn't be so afraid of "hurting" my lifts.
-
@lwhayes820 I'm considering doing that as well - I have a lot of at home programs I could do, plus I'd like to start Couch to 5k, I just don't want to do anything detrimental to my lifts. I have enjoyed lifting so far, I just also want to start shedding pounds so I can see the muscle that I'm working on! Thus far I…

I haven't posted in a week or two, but I'm still doing the program! Here are my latest results: 3/29 - Squats: 85lbs 5x5 Deads: 120lbs 5x5 Bench: 75lbs 5x5 I struggled on my bench this time, so I will be repeating 75lbs next time. I got all of my reps in, but I had to break in between some of the reps during my sets. It…

So I'm not really doing Stronglifts, I'm doing Starting Strength, but they're pretty similar, it just doesn't have you do barbell rows for the first few weeks. Anyway, here was my results from last night: Squats - 60lbs 5x5 Overhead - 45 5x5 (will repeat this weight again, didn't cheat, but they weren't very pretty at the…

Hi everyone! I'm new to stronglifts, but I hope you don't mind me posting my progress here. This was my very first week at it so here we go: Tuesday 3/8 Squats: 5x5 @ 45 Bench: 5x5 @ 55 Deadlift: 1x5 @ 65 Thursday 3/10 Squats: 5x5 @ 50 OP: 5x5 @ 45 Deadlift: 1x5 @ 70 Sunday 3/13 Squats: 5x5 @ 55 Bench: 5x5 @ 60…

Thanks for the answers! I have been fitted for shoes, although I'm probably due for a new pair soon (and new insoles as well!). I'll definitely have to find a place that I can have someone watch my form if I plan to take running seriously any time soon.

Awesome progress!! :) You should feel great about it!

"I'm kind of proud" - you should be SUPER proud of yourself. That's amazing! You look wonderful!

When I started on MFP I counted calories quite religiously. Now, I just eat better. I know that might not sound helpful, but I just eat a lot of veggies and lean meats. I don't count calories now, I mostly drink water and don't eat stuff I know I shouldn't. That might sound unhelpful, but it's true.

When I have problems sleeping I take melatonin, I've used unisom in the past, but melatonin seems to work for me. A lot of things I've read basically tell you the following: Do not use your bed for anything but sleeping. That way your body associates being in bed with sleep (so, no TV, video games, reading, etc in bed.)…

New Rules Of Lifting For Women - pretty sure it's a book/program. :)

As far as that message goes, it's purely based on numbers - And if weight loss were purely about numbers, our lives would be a lot simpler; however, weightloss has as much to do with what you're eating, and what you're doing for a workout, whether you're sick, or you're on your period, what your metabolism is like, etc as…

You are definitely not the only person who thinks and feels this way. When I started losing weight a few years ago, I got down to the 180s, and the change became really noticeable. Guys at work started hitting on me, and it made me REALLY uncomfortable. Instead of taking it as a compliment, or dealing with it, I just…

Awesome job, I saw your pic on http://beforeandafterweightlosspics.tumblr.com/ this evening! :) That is such a great achievement! :)
