Kayaking at sunset?! That sound awesome! Wow, haha, I wish I could tag along just for the experience! Also, went running once this weekend (5.25mi) and once today (7.23 mi) -- ticker updated! :D

Yikes, I caught a horrible virus this week, but instead of resting my sorry butt in bed, I wanted to run so, so badly. I really pushed myself to run 10 miles at 10min/mi nonstop today (for better or for worse!) and right now, as I bask in the afterglow, I'm just on top of the world. We'll see how this decision turns out…

Wow, looking good! Looks like you'll need a new July goal soon! :D
-
Oops! I fell waaay behind on my miles (goal was at least 5 a day for 5 days a week!). I made it up a bit by running 7mi this morning and hopefully I'll get in another 8mi this evening! :)

I injured myself running on June 30!! No joke -- Slightly sprained my ankle and got major blisters on both feet. I'm finally getting back into this challenge though! :) Ran 5.14 yesterday and 2.01 today (went swimming and biking instead, but those don't count, oops! :P). I also updated my ticker. I'm at 7.15/100mi for July…

Yes! Click on the "Food" tab, then "Recipes" (in the bar right underneath) :)

Thanks so much for your input, everyone!! Maybe I'll alternate between the two to mix it up a bit and see how that goes. :))

I'm so in!! Running 100 miles in 31 days -- let's do this! :D

Yes, I eat back all my exercise calories, but I am very selective with what I log. I only log explicit exercise (going for a run) and don't count cleaning, mowing the lawn, biking to/from work, etc. That way, my burn is at most only 500 cals. I'm also on the 1200 cal plan, and it's worked for me so far! If you're nervous…

Yes, having your own yoga mat is a must! I personally like going barefoot if I'm at home or wearing soft dancer/ballet shoes if I'm out. Something i wish I'd known when I started yoga: choose a thin, spongy mat that's not too thick (it's easier to work with), and when you're finished, wipe down your mat with an…

In my opinion, your family is either really supportive and attentive (and that's great!) or they're jealous (it happens). I would say that you're the best judge of what a comfortable weight is. At 5'2" (that's my height!), you can maintain a healthy bmi between 100 and 135 lbs. As long as you feel happy and healthy (and…

Bump! (I hope to run my first half marathon at the end of this summer!)

#1) I always use unsweetened, unsalted oats and add cinnamon with a bit of brown sugar. It's especially good with raisins or dried fruit, or with a little granola mixed in after it's cooked. I like it much better than the preflavored varieties, which I think are way too sweet. 2) Not sure -- interested to hear other…

I've totally been there, and trust me, it's better to stay on the antibiotics and kick this sickness early than try to go the natural route and stay sick even longer (or risk getting worse!). I had to be on/off antibiotics for a better part of 6 months in high school due to a serious dermal illness (so gross), and yup, I…

Welcome to MFP! You can definitely do it! :) I'm in pretty much the same situation (just finished sophomore year at college too!), and really look forward to using this summer to turn over a new leaf.

Hahaha, I've actually developed a love for unsweetened watery oatmeal (with a bit of cinnamon)... It sounds kind of gross, but it totally gets rid of the munchies and I've really grown to like it

Greek yogurt! :) Suuuper filling and a lot of protein without many calories. Go for the unsweetend 0% Fage Greek yogurt and add your own berries (but be careful of too much sugary carb-laden granola!) Or now that's it's summer, try freezing some lowfat yogurt (tastes like ice cream!) or freeze fruit like grapes or any kind…

I am so in! :D Wow, this will be a challenge, but so worth it!

I typically try to reduce the butter/oil I use when baking and found that using healthy baking substitutes goes a long way! I often use a cup of applesauce in place of a cup of butter or a cup of veggie oil. There are a bunch more baking substitutes here too:…

I agree! Time intervals are the way to go. I started out with a 10 min walk, 30 second fast run (almost sprinting), 5 min light jog until I finished my 3 mi loop. Also, sometimes your body just needs a rest. Are you sleeping well too?
-
I really like my ankles (specifically the right one...)! During class, sometimes I point and flex my foot to see my tendons move... the human body is just so amazing. :)
-
Haha, soooo true! I usually let myself have one serving of dessert for every two miles I run and that's all I think about the whole time I'm going! But by the time I get back from exercising, sometimes I feel so great that I don't want to ruin it with refined sugar and empty calories. Funny how that works, haha.

Ohmygosh, I love Gina's Skinny Recipes! My absolute fav dessert: http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/04/pina-colada-cupcakes.html Nomnomnom. :D

Hi all! Ditto, 5'2" at 126! :D ~ Jen

Nonfat greek yogurt with fresh/frozen fruit! Soooo good and really filling. :)

I love to stock up on oatmeal (suuuper cheap and a lot of fiber!), eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, salads, tea/coffee, and one "meal" theme per week like easy to grill chicken. I'd recommend staying away from cereal, bread, and crackers -- they're way too easy to overeat, especially when you're hungry.
-
I really love adding egg whites to my oatmeal to get in that morning protein kick! The egg whites make the oatmeal texture a little fluffier and creamier, and you can't really taste them, especially if you add fruit or sweeten it with sugar/artificial sweetener. Plus, this breakfast is super inexpensive and easy to make. I…

I agree, mine gets completely wonky when I get back into regular exercise or start choosing my foods more selectively. I literally didn't get mine all last cross-country season (and I'm not underweight in the slightest)!

Hi! I hope it's not too late to join! CW: 127 This group is so neat! :D

I really love Propel fitness water and carbonated water (no flavoring -- it's great for your digestion too!). The aspartame in Crystal Light always gives me the worst headaches. I also like drinking really hot water plain. It warms me up and keeps me alert in the morning, sans the caffeine in tea or coffee. :)
