That's too funny!!! Glad it all worked out OK in the end. You'll get your knitting mojo back soon.

Congratulations!!!!! I can totally understand crying when trying on a dress in a store that you have always wanted to shop in but never could! Keep up the good work!!!

Yes, I understand too well. I think you will find this group particularly helpful and understanding.

I make black bean taco salad. I use lower salt baked corn chips as the base. I heat some black beans with a tablespoon or two of salsa, some spices (garlic, coriander and cumin) and then layer chips, beans, reduced fat cheese, lettuce tomatoes and a few onions and voila! a quick and filling dinner.

Me too!!!!! And I would like to reach a point where downward dog feels as enjoyable as people with more yoga experience say that it does. At this point in time, staying in the most for more than a few seconds feels like an endurance competition. My other goal is to be able to actually have my bum rest on my heels during…

I overeat because sometimes food (sweet, sugary carbs) are the only thing that makes me feel better.

I can finish a whole workout while listening to Car Talk and Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me podcast and never once stop and think, "Geez, when do I get to quit?" NPR really is my connection to the world.

i am sorry that you got taken advantage of in this way. You did absolutely the right thing.

Your post brings tears to my eyes for a couple of reasons. First, I am an OT who sees people struggle every day and I know that the biggest factor in a person's recovery (recovery=living positively with whatever abilities you have) is determination. Obviously, you are one very determined person. I also have tears in my…

Yoga is being used to help people with PTSD, an anxiety disorder.

I am a real yoga beginner. The adolescent mental health facility where I work started to offer a twice a week yoga class for the girls who live there. I went to be an additional staff person and to role model the trials and tribulations of a person who had never taken a yoga class. I have loved it. Our yoga instructor was…

The suggestion to make soup is a good one. I big pot of vegetable soup is really delicious this time of year and this is from someone who was never a big veggie eater as a kid. The flavors of all the vegetables blend together so it doesn't taste like any particular vegetable. Plus cooking changes the texture so that might…

I do the same thing! While I know it' part of the 'all or nothing" thinking that also contributes to my weight problem, it still happens. Here is the mind game I play with myself to get myself out the door for the first time after a 'break." My thinking is usually along the lines of me getting out of shape after a period…

I am a slow runner too. I think I average about 15 minute miles. This stays about the same no matter how good a shape I am in or how my weight fluctuates. If I try to go faster, running becomes unpleasant and when I finish a run, I want to feel energized and strong, not like I want to fall down and die. That said, I have…

Don't give up just because other people are stupid! You can't fix their stupidity. The only person you have control over is you and from the sounds of things, you are doing everything right.

Yes, it's defintely a victory. Overcoming emotional eating isn't an all or nothing journey, it's a long series of making better food decisions. Good for you!

To get back on the exerise and healthy eating wagon. I just got back from vacation and the week after vacation is always super tough...it's like a mini-depression hits after all the fun of vacation. So this week, exercise at least three days. I'm not worrying about length of time or how strenuous (walking vs. running)…

I was recently in Albuquerque, NM and did a very brief hike along the Sandia Crest trail. I'm a flatlander so being at 10,000+ feet was challenging. It was quite pretty and we arrived just after a rain shower so the air was clean and fresh, smelled nice a piney. As we rode the tram back to town, we spotted a black bear.

One cup of brown rice with homemade chicken and 0.75 cup of vegetable stir fry on top. It is leftovers from last night's dinner and tastes wonderful!!!

So without looking in the mirror and thinking about how you look, is there anything that does feel good to you about this huge loss of weight?

The week before my period is always the most challenging in terms of cravings. When I crave chocolate, I try to stick with dark chocolate. I don't like it as much as milk chocolate but I am less likely to eat a whole bag of chocolates. When I am craving ice cream, I buy a tasty kind that has a few fewer calories and I…

Iceberg lettuce and celery are pretty low in calories and both are crunchy enough that you have to chew. Chewing always makes me feel more full. Sugar free gum and a big glass of water, as others suggest, are helpful.

That is absolutely, unequivocally FANTASTIC!!!! And extra kudos for celebrating with exercise! Please post again when you have your next follow up visit and your doctor falls down to the floor in disbelief! way to go!!!!!!!!!!

As of August 4 Me: 3 Binge: 1 And Diane...way to go, you have a great start on the month of August!!!

As of August 4 Me: 2 Binge: 1 Was super busy today, lots of physical activity so not much down time to wander aimlessly in the kitchen thinking of food.

As of August 3 Me:1 Binge:1 I had a small binge last night. It wasn't really secretive, hide in the kitchen, sort of binge but as Mollie said earlier, a little binge is a binge. I went out to eat yesterday and while I planned well for that, I think I let myself get too hungry (it was a late lunch/early dinner). Later in…

I am definitely in the same boat as the OP, I wear the undies because I sweat A LOT! I will forever be envious of people who can got for quick jog on their lunch break or bicycle to work. Well, I guess I could do that but I doubt that anyone would be too thrilled with the big sweaty puddles I'd leave behind.
