Awesome! Congratulations on your progress so far! And for the record, you don't look anywhere near 40!

As of July 12 Me: 10 Binge: 2 I had a small binge last night. Got up this morning and started over again. My plan for this weekend is to pre-plan my meals and look for some meals I can cook that are filling and satisfying and then make enough to have leftovers to take in my lunch next week. I do know that I am going to a…

Walking is a good exercise to start with. It's easy and you don't need any equipment. If you find that you spend the whole time thinking "Oh geez, when can I just go back home," try picking a scenic place to walk like a park or relatively flat nature trail. That way you will have something nice to look at while you walk.

So for everyone doing this challenge, what are your plans for staying busy and occupying your mind and your time to avoid a binge?

After a discouraging week where I did everything right (exercise, lots of veggies, tracked food, stayed within calorie limit) but didn't see the scale budge, these posts about slow but very successful weight loss are so encouraging.

Good job on analyzing the situation I have analyzed myself so many times but yesterday was the first time I had thought about the fact that I ate unsatisfying food and got home and just had to have something that hit that unhittable spot. In hindsight, it would have been fewer calories to go grab half of a Subway sub (the…

As of July 9 Me: 8 Binge: 1 (7/9) There were leftover brownies and when I had one, I didn't stop there. I had 5 and then I had two blueberry muffins and two slices of bread to top it all off. It was a binge rather than just over indulging because I couldn't just walk away and found myself "sneaking" into the kitchen to get…

Daily, just to stay accountable. But the only weight that "counts" and gets recorded for progress in first thing Monday morning. I weigh myself first thing in the morning.

I know that disordered eating, especially binging is so similar to other addictions. I get frustrated though because unlike other addictions...alcohol, smoking, drugs...I can't just pour the booze down the drain or flush the cigarrettes and keep the triggering substance at a distance...there has to be some sort of food in…

As of July 8 Me: 8 Binge 0 Last night was a close call! Family baked brownies for a work function today and there were some left after everything had been packed up for work. I had one but it took every ounce of my being to not hang around until everyone had gone to bed and then eat the leftovers. It was hard but I…

I am working on a light, lacey sweater (pattern is called Matcha) to wear in my overly air-conditioned office. I'm knitting it with Malabrigo sock yarn so it's a delight.

Holy hannah! That's incredible!!! Good for you for taking charge of your health and making positive changes.

A garage sale to see your way-too-big clothes is a perfect celebration of your journey so far. Out with the old, in with the new!!! Keep up the great work!

Good for you! Before I started MFP, I ate a few veggies. I also ate pretty much the same thing over and over and over. Now that I have to think a little bit about calorie content, I find that I am eating a much greater variety of foods and especially veggies. Congrats on your progress so far!

I have found the same thing. When I eat lots of high carb and high sugar foods, I can have 2, possibly 3 times a day. And it's not just a little poo, it's embarrassingly big. When I am eating healthier foods, fruits and vegetables, less fat, less refined sugar, I definitely go less. I usually go once a day and about about…

Friday night is totally the weekend! It's the time in the weekend that Monday is the farthest away. Weekends can go either way for me. During the week, I feel like snacking ALL THE TIME while sitting at my desk with my mind only halfway occupied. However, there is only so much that I can eat as I pack my own lunch.…

As of July 7 Me: 7 Binge: 0 I went over my calorie limit yesterday by 350 calories or so but that was due to having a treat for breakfast after berry picking in the morning and it being too darned hot to get any sort of exercise. I don't think the 5 gallons of sweat I produced picking berries for two hours counts as…

Way to go! Your hard work is paying off with big changes! Keep up the good work! Keep chanting your mantra..."You can do it!"

Wow, good for you! The hardest thing about a day of out of control eating is waking up the next day and not throwing in the towel. It seems so terrible in the moment but then if you look back with some hindsight, one day doesn't make or break anyone's diet. But it's so hard to feel that in that moment of despair and defeat.

As of July 4, 2012 Me: 4 Binge: 0 I made it throuh the 4th and planned my eating very well. I even had enough calories set aside to go out for ice cream. The best thing...I didn't beat myself up over ice cream and so far, today I am doing pretty well. Usually I beat myself up and say, "if I screwed up a little, I might as…

That is a truely awesome NSV!

Your post is very inspiring. I look at most progress posts and people seem to shed weight so quickly...like 100lbs. in a year. I just can't do that without feeling like I am starving. I usually lose about 0.5 to 1 lb. a week. I get discouraged because I (like everyone else here) would love more immediate results. So to see…

The recipes listed sound really good. A few year ago, I had to briefly be on a NO soduim diet. Everything tasted very bland until I discovered that the bite and flavor of vinegar (any kind...white wine, red wine, balsamic) helped a lot. It livens up the flavor of things when you are watching your salt intake. And you can…

For some reason your post came to my mind while I was in the grocery store the other day. I was thinking of 11 lbs and when I passed the butter in the dairy aisle. I picked up a pound of butter and then thought, "Aren't we all trying to lose fat? Imagine how much 11 lbs of fat would be." So when there weren't too many…

Good for you! Getting started is the hardest part. Some days, when the thought of exercies makes me want to crawl into bed, I know that if I can just get out the door, I will do it.

Congratulations!!! You look fantastic, what a transformation! Pictures are a real motivator aren't they? My weight loss journey started with a picture too.

I took a day off from formal exercise but I burned a few calories doing some early morning gardening and then cleaning the house. I think it's great that I can look up "cleaning" and get credit for burning a few calories. It's going to stay hot for a while so the OP is going to have to keep the hot challenges.

Congratulation! You have really made a transformation! Keep up the good work and post again when you meet another big goal!
