  • Yes, focus on the protein, and it will help control the carbs. I find I have a tendency to go over a bit on fats (but "good fats" from things like nuts), not carbs, when I focus on my proteins. I am also ovo-lacto.
  • I get colonoscopies every 3 years (yay me), and on average I lose 5 to 8 pounds overnight doing the colon prep. You'd be surprised how much poo can weigh! But from what i can see she only had a 0.6 lb gain... that could reasonably be waste... or water...
  • I went ahead and ate full TDEE for the first 6 weeks after finding EM2WL to do a metabolic reset, since I had been eating 1200 calories (while half-marathon training AND breastfeeding) for soooo long. Then I tried to cut 15%, and couldn't cut it...haha... backed off to 10%, and some days I still end up closer to full TDEE.…
  • I take 3 measurements... I measure at the the smallest point all the way around (natural waist), the largest point all the way around, and at the navel. I track all three because I weirdly hold water/weight/food waste differently from day to day (sometimes the biggest part is lower, sometimes its closer to my navel).
  • Nothing. Coffee tastes best unpolluted.
  • You can find a lot of great advice and support in the Eat More to Weigh Less group here on MFP. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/3834-eat-more-to-weigh-less
  • I would think that since you still weigh quite a bit, it might be better to adapt the HIIT routine to something like an elliptical machine that would reduce the impact on your joints. Or you can even to something similar on a stationary bike. ETA Just saw morninglilli posted basically the same thing. :)
  • That's what I was wondering also. I'm thinking about asking for one as my anniversary present this month. I was originally going to just get a HRM, but these things seem much cooler, and they work in the pool, correct? A HRM doesn't work in the pool, where I spend MUCH time during the summer.
  • You are DEFINITELY not moderate. I'm exhausted just reading your post.
  • I was ravenous all day yesterday (even with eating 190g of protein), and BAM, dropped two "new" pounds this morning! (Today I had celebratory donuts....and cheddar bay biscuits....and pizza... yeah. Back to business tomorrow.)
  • Since you have lost weight and gained it back before, this is VERY MUCH a great approach for you. When you lose weight slower by eating a smaller cut, you are way less likely to gain it back after you meet your goal weight. The weight training is not required for this approach, alot of us just like it. The math all still…
  • I gained a lot of weight AFTER the baby, while I was NURSING. It turned out for me that my body was holding onto fat because I wasn't eating ENOUGH to support my own body and the baby I was nursing, especially with all the exercising I was doing to try and lose the "baby weight". I'm still nursing now, and since I started…
  • Currently a spoon, but when I reach my goal weight, I'll be an hourglass again. Currently 38-30-43, but when I am done I should be around 38-26-38. (Though my hips may be permanently wider from the whole birthing thing... won't know for sure until I get closer to my goal.) My chest won't get any smaller. I wish it would!
  • This is exactly what I do also.
  • Just return to your planned calories tomorrow. 500 calories is 0.14 lbs. Carry on!

  • ^^^This. I did all of the above because it was easier for me. I mean, the wonderful close bond is a great side effect, but lets face it, I mostly just wanted a good night's rest. :))
  • I highly recommend eating more. Lots more. And still losing weight. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/3834-eat-more-to-weigh-less Here is a group that can help you do it right. Also a blog I wrote on the subject: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/lillebanon/view/my-take-on-eating-more-to-weigh-less-254554
  • I think that cover photo and title are pretty ridiculous. That said, my son who turns 3 in August still nurses at bedtime. Here is a list of some of the amazing, well-researched benefits of breastfeeding BEYOND infancy: http://kellymom.com/ages/older-infant/ebf-benefits/ And statements from real experts: * The American…
  • I remember when my younger sister was born and my mom was nursing her (so I would have been close to 4 years old) coming in and seeing her nursing and asking if I could have some too. My mom allowed me to. At that point I remember being surprised that it tasted warm and sweet, because by that age I was used to drinking…
  • I go over my sugar "limit" eating a few carrots a day. I know the sugars I'm eating are from healthy sources (I rarely crave or eat processed sugars), so I ignore it.
  • Make sure you are drinking lots of water. If you need a gentle stimulant, try a cup of senna based tea, like Celestial Seasonings "Laxatea" or "Super Dieter's Tea" (which is a stupid name for the tea, because the only weight it helps you lose is backed up waste). Usually if I have a cup of Laxatea before bed I will be able…
  • I immediately gave up everything "diet" when I started eating more... that included my beloved diet soda... and since regular soda tastes gross, I have officially been soda free for a little over a month now. I don't even miss it. I didn't even realize I hadn't had any until I was almost 3 weeks in. But nobody will ever be…
  • You did this in 3 1/2 months?? You are my hero... must...keep...lifting!

  • I most definitely have bought them over the counter. I used to take them daily because I did have a deficiency, my doctor prescribed them (but I bought them OTC) because the deficiency was aggravating my tachycardia. But now I eat lots of beans, so definitely no need to supplement. I'm getting 3k to 4k mg a day just from…

  • Don't forget, this is all about eating like you want to eat for the rest of your life... I for one do not plan on giving up my occasional movie treats. Remember, you'd have to overeat by 3500 calories to gain a pound!
  • How about you buy a a BMF, use it for a week and then sell it to me for a slight discount... Then when I get mine figured out, I'll sell it to the next person in line!
  • Ahah! Its all the beans, soy and lentils I eat. I hit 4600 mg today and my goal is 3500.
