LMBAO! I love it! I will claim mutt/mixed breed as well (we won't get into the historical whys...) Mother's parents are from New Orleans and Mississippi (definite mixture right there) and dad's folks are from.....as far I know Baltimore & NY...so again, who knows. I knew my dad & my paternal side of the family...just not a…

The kind of carbs you eat makes more difference than the amount, although the amount of carbs matters too. I cut out all processed foods (frozen dinners, cereals, pastas, rice, french fries, etc). I also cut out fruits that are really high in carbs/sugar (i.e. bananas). Google the carb count of common fruits to get a…

Watch your intake of processed carbs! I know that for me, when i eliminate bread, pasta, rice, cereal and fried foods and increase my protein intake, my tummy shrinks down fast - exercise or not. To me, that proves that weight loss, especially in the mid-section is 80% diet, 20% exercise. I have done my best to cut out all…

Hi! I purchased a mountain bike earlier this month. I've gotten out twice. My first ride was about 8 miles and my second ride was 15. I'm hoping to have a chance to get out this Sunday and tack an extra 5 on. My goal (if anyone is familiar with the LA coastline) is to go from Santa Monica Beach to Rancho Palos Verdes and…

Basically, the movements (or lack thereof) that you are seeing could be due to a number of reasons: 1) Your body is in shock or starvation mode: If you're like me, you went from 0-100; a couch potatoe straght to Insanity, no chaser. Prior to Insanity, I tried to eat around 1300-1500 calories/day. Keeping that same caloric…

Hi, In response, I would suggest first going to get yourself measured. at a bra boutique. If you don't have a bra boutique in your city, Victoria's Secret or Nordstrom will do it for free, but they aren't always as accurate as the boutiques. Second, I would suggest investing in a high quality sports bra. Nothing is worse…

Hi, Don't feel discouraged! It could be water retention if your not drinking enough water during the workout and throughout the day. I carry a 1.5L bottle with me each day and drink about 1L before, during and after the workout. Just be careful not to overload on water because then you can face bloating (I know...balancing…

Hi there, I'm sure your results will be great and I've heard that the results really start to show in month 2. I'm currently on week 4 and have been losing inches and a little weight. I'm figuring that the weight of my muscles is displacing the weight of my fat :-D Anywho, I just wanted to suggest to you that you invest in…

Hi, I think mummy kicks are just supposed to be a moment to catch your breath while still moving. I stay on the balls of my feet, so I do feel it a bit in my calves. As for the stretches, I too have to stay mindful of my core. Just suck it in if you feel like it's not tight enough. That hip flexor yoga stretch (the one…

Thanks for the advice! I did some research online and came to the same conclusion when it comes to eating before a morning workout. I think I'm going to try a fresh fruit smoothie with a smidget of protein (5g) about 1 hour before and then work up to solid fruit for month 2. I agree with you concerning MFP's recommended…

Definitely make sure to calculate your caloric needs per Insanity's nutrition guide. MFP may have you too low...that's seems to have been the trend from what I've read. Mine was 500 calories too low.

Morning, I'm almost finished with week 3 of Insanity. After reviewing other forum discussions concerning Insanity workouts and caloric intake, I realized that I was not taking in enough calories. I was in the ballpark of 1300 or so a day. I'm hoping that uping my caloric intake will help me fuel me through the workouts. I…

Hi Jake! My name is Courtney and I'm in week 3 of Insanity as well. It's awesome, isn't it! Keeping up with Shaun T is next to impossible. The folks doing the workout with him on the DVD can't even keep up and he takes breaks too. Best advice, go at your own pace...no need to kill over 20 minutes into the 40 min workout. I…

That is a lot, but keep doing! You have too for your family! I hope that you're still digging deeper!
-
The only thing that I would advise you to do is consult with your physician. Every DVD in the program has this warning before the workout starts. Shaun T is very encouraging and you will see that even the folks on the DVD are told to take breaks...and they've done the program already. I don't say that to scare you but to…

Hi everyone! My name is Courtney. I'm 27 and I'm from Los Angeles, CA. I just moved here from MD last summer. The 10 lbs that I had lost mostly through diet early last year came back this year with avengence! I bought Insanity over 2 years ago and after 3 workouts, let it collect dust. Part of the reason was because those…

Congrats to you on starting Insanity! I hope you're still in it. I'm in my 3rd week of Insanity and can already see the benefits. My pants are starting to loosen in the hips and thighsand dropped a size in my bra band (sorry if that was TMI). My cardio endurance and lung capacity have increased significantly. Last weekend,…

I concur with those who suggested Insanity. I've down the 30 Day Shred, No More Trouble Zones and Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism and none have worked me harder than Insanity. I'm in the my 3rd week and can already feel my clothes loosening up, especially my pants in the hips and thighs. It is a great intense workout. Just be…
