  • Recreational Therapist (Yes, it's a real job. Yes, I went to school for it.)
  • As long as I keep the almonds out of my office, I do a LOT less snacking, like Dree3 said. Meals are more planned and purposeful, instead of throwing together random cheap stuff I find at the store. I sometimes miss being able to boil a pot of water and make pasta and sauce in 15 minutes....but I'm glad that in return if I…
  • This is a very real problem. I dealt with it for a while after my WLS, especially being 20 when I had my surgery. I am fortunately at a point where I have a better relationship with alcohol and a better understanding of how it affects me. It only took me 6 years, though...
  • 1. What Week/Day are you on? I'm starting W3 today. 2. How do you feel? Nervous about running 3 minutes, but I know I can do it! Excited that I've gotten this far, and also motivated both my SO and a coworker to also start the program. 3. Have you had to repeat a week or day? I did both W1 and W2 an extra day. 4. Did you…
  • Bump. Anybody out there?
  • No. We've talked about it a lot and it usually comes to, he loves me regardless of my weight, and even fought for me against his crazy Japanese SIL who thinks every fat person should die. He has about 35lbs extra right now himself. In this attempt to lose weight, the first real one since we've been together, I asked him,…
  • My dog doesn't get into as much stuff anymore because she's tired from our 2-3 mile runs!
  • Yes. It's just a number. I like not having to censor myself when talking to him about everything. I also know how much he weighs, and know that when I weigh less than him will be a happy, happy day. Only 20lbs away!
  • I weigh daily and keep track on a spreadsheet, but only pull out "amount lost" every 5-10 days. Otherwise it's just a quick check in the morning because I like data.
  • Pretending to work.
  • Backpacking in sub Saharan Africa after living in South Africa for school. I had an opportunity to help out for a few days at a lion sanctuary in Zambia. After a few days, this particular lion and I became relatively good pals...he was about 2 years old. He'd rub all over me, and loved laying with his head in my lap. That…
  • I'm a recreational therapist.
  • I simply don't trust the calorie counts of the workouts enough to eat back exercise calories. On days where I do work out a bit, I don't feel bad if I'm hungry and go over...but if I'm not hungry, I'm not going to force myself to eat more just because some arbitrary number. FWIW, I am going to invest in an HR monitor at…
  • Vodka and rum have only ~70 calories per ounce. I personally like to mix them with flavored seltzer water (must read ZERO all the way down). For instance, the flavored seltzers at Wal Mart are excellent and cheap, and mix very well. If I'm going out, I usually mix with soda (seltzer) and get it with a lime, or mix with…
  • I weighed 275 lbs when I started running outside with my C25k. No way in hell I'm getting up before I have to, so I do it after work, right when everyone else does it, at a large busy park in a large busy city. You know what I said to start with? Screw 'em all. All that matters is you and the pavement and moving forward.…
  • Walking around the city - I live in New Orleans so it's always fun and you always see different things Trying out different restaurants, cafes, and bars Working out together. We go to the big parks like City Park and Audubon Park a lot. We go to the beach or out to the bayou occasionally on the weekends. Random festivals…
  • Starchy and grainy foods. Alcohol except for special occasions (My definition is a little loose on this... ) Laziness.
  • I know you're not supposed to do 2 days in a row, but I had a huge amount of energy today and this weekend is going to be touch and go with family in town, so I went ahead and attempted W2D1... AND I SUCCEEDED!!!! I was almost skipping after I realized I made it through all 6 intervals. I'm ecstatic. I had a minor stitch…
  • I had gastric bypass 8 years ago. I was down about 120 lbs from my highest, but regained back 60 of that as of 2 months ago. I had a complication in 2007 called Candy Cane Limb syndrome, so after a surgical fix of that, I was basically "reset" to my original post op pouch. So I technically had two chances, and I think I…
  • Honestly, I told everyone what I'm doing, posted on Facebook, the whole 9 yards. It keeps me more accountable, just like being here on MFP. My SO is super supportive, my parents are super supportive, my friends are mostly supportive...I've got support, accountability, and a plan. I think that's what's making me successful…
  • Bell peppers Sharp cheddar, mozzarella, cream, String cheeses Bacon Ground hamburger Chicken breasts Eggs Celery Almond milk Lettuce (usually multiple types) Spinach Buttermilk Ranch Blue Plate Mayo Rotisserie chicken (I buy one about 2x a week. Yum for 1 meal, then chicken salad!) Feta cheese Any other veggies as needed
  • Just an update - I did another day of Week 1 today...and I think I may just be confident enough to move to Week 2! I felt like I rocked it! My paces were better (12-15 mile paces), my energy levels were better, I wasn't screaming at the disembodied voice coming from my phone. I just ran when I needed to and walked when I…
  • Why wouldn't you just keep going until you're finished? It's good for your heart, good for your body...and calorie counts aren't 100% accurate.
  • I'm on W1D3....count me in. I'm struggling with energy and nausea due to some nutritional issues, but getting there!
  • I do every day because I'm a bit obsessed with everything right now. I track it along with my calorie intake, water intake, period, exercise, etc. I make a chart every 5 days, showing weight vs calorie intake, water intake, etc. It helps keep me motivated and keep my scientificy mind busy. As long as the trend is…
  • Weight: 268 Age: 27 Daily Calorie Goal (w/o exercise): 1600 Avg. Weight Loss per week: 2 lbs Starting Weight: Original high weight @ age 19 - 340. Starting weight this try - 281. Goal Weight: 180 lbs (I'm being reasonable - I'm not a narrow girl and don't come from a skinny family!) Exercise of choice: C25k, walking,…
  • I'm starting tomorrow morning with W1D1. I have NEVER been a runner. I was on the track team in middle school, but as a thrower. The running warm up always killed me. Now, I'm determined. I have some friends who run and always seem to have a blast doing it. I want to be one of those people! Let's do it!

  • I guess I'm lucky, because my biggest pet peeve is the rotating fan doesn't hit me often enough! I work out at a hospital gym...it's truly awesome.
  • 111 lb goal, so count me in. It may go lower from there, too!
  • You are brilliant. I am stopping by the store today and doing just that. And then topping it with homemade whipped cream. YES.
