I was wondering what thoughts are about measuring body fat. I know there are professional ways to get it done, but I don't have the time or the resources to pay to have it done professionally. Also, I would like to track the progress, so paying a lot to have it done does not seem like a good option. I measured it using the…

I am a little unclear on what you want us to do. I see the official challenge starts on the 20th, but unclear where we are supposed to leave you a message. I plan on doing Insanity

I am new to the message board and see people mention TDEE. I hate to sound stupid, but what does this acronym stand for? thanks up front for the response.

My thanks to Laura for letting us know about the limit of 500 posts; I wasn't aware of the limit. I see I am almost the end of this one. I think it will be less overwhelming when we start Part II of this thread. Seeing 500 posts is huge considering the month is not even half way through. I actually got my hubby to take my…

I really resonate with this group. Right now i am loosing, but fear I will plateau since that's what I have done in the past. I really started seriously tracking my food and consistently increasing my exercise in June. I am down 14 pounds in 9 weeks so I guess I am a little more than 1 pound a week. There are several weeks…

Personally, I would prefer MFP since I come to this site everyday to log my food. I think one of the reasons I drop off the other sites (Beachbody, Facebook, etc.) is I only have time to surf one site, and having to log into more than one for an extended time results in me dropping them. If I'm here I'm more likely to…

I'm ready to bring it on, as Shawn T. says. I just got done with a big walk so I will have to wait until later today to do my Insanity. It's going to be hot, hot, hot today so I need to get it in before it gets to the hot part of the day. How is this group going to work? Do we check in daily to keep ourselves accountable…

Is it carbs, alcohol, sweets, or what do you cheat on during the weekend? Are you tracking your calories? I step up my exercise on the weekend so I can have my wine, coctail, or dinner out. Are you feeling like you are sacrificing during the week and need to catch up on the weekends? I feel your pain, and would love to…

How about a combo of greek yogurt, berries, and grapenuts for crunch. It gives you smooth, crunchy, sweet, protein, and carbs. A pretty good combo and a good start for the day that leaves me full until lunch

I would love to join this group. I will be restarting Insanity, as I am traveling 3-4 days a week and although I love P90x I find it too hard to stick with without my weights. Count me in doing Insanity. I will restart tomorrow, in addition to my walking.

Excellent post! I knew this, but I get caught up in the scale even when I know there's a reason for a temporary gain. I have really stepped up my walking and my legs were killing me. Remembering the temporary gain is due to retained fluids helps me get over the 3 pound weight gain.

I love the concept of this group. I was actually feeling guilty for eating butter! I don't eat a lot of butter, but I can't imagine toast without butter or cooking without olive oil. I am finding that I just need to eat less. This allows me to eat the things I like. Of course, I know I really can't be eating chips very…

Hello everyone, I can see how important it is to check in each day. It took me a couple of hours to read all the posts. I think I can get more out of this if I interact with others, so I will try to check in more often next week. I just started a new job in So. CA and I am trying to get used to the travel and staying in a…

I buy the large size yogurts and portion it out into 1/2 cup containers. I add 1/2 c. fruit of some type (berries, melons, peaches, etc.) and 1/4 c. grapenuts in a small baggie which I add when I am ready to eat it. It looks and tastes like a purchased parfait. It's decadant, as well as a lot of food that holds you for…

I know exactly how you feel working the hours you do in a high stress job. I was a ER trauma nurse at a level 2 trauma center and there are days when you don't get 10 minutes to eat. I've used string cheese, almonds, protein bars, and fruit when I'm starving and I can't leave to eat. I don't work in this environment…

I'm still trying to figure out how to work with the posts, but I would like to offer you some encouragement. While sites like these are filled with people sharing their accomplishments you need to remember that it takes courage to post when you are discouraged. I know, because I have been one of those people who was gung…

Checking in for today. It's a beautiful Sunday- about 90 degrees with a slight breeze. I just finished my walk; I completed 4.25 miles  I am going to watch the Olympics, as these young athletes motivate me to get out there an move. My husband and I went to a graduation party last night and I stayed within my…

Thanks for the offer. I wanted to add a post so this site is marked. I don't have any questions right now, but starting Monday i will be working out of town for the next 3 months, only coming home on weekends. For now, I will be living in a hotel room, so I am looking into healthy choices when I have to eat out every day.…

I am 51 years old and would like to join this post. I would like to loose 6 pounds by Sept. 1st. I am going to Matzalan to help my sister celebrate her 50th birthday. This is a big trip for me, and I would love to be down 20 pounds since I last saw her. I am amazed at how many posts there are, and it's only the 4th. It's…

I add a tsp. of honey, some berries, and 1/4 c. grapenuts! My daily breakfast feels so decadant, and lasts me until lunch. I never ate breakfast before, but this is quick, easy, and filling. Love it!

The P90x program is very extreme, as you are finding out. I have been successful with it, but I found if I wasn't eating enough calories I would crash and loose my motivation to continue. If you do the whole program you are burning massive calories. If you don't take in enough food you are going to bonk (a term used in the…

I notice my starting weight only says 8 lbs. I started my weight journey before joing this group. Does anyone know how to reset my start point?

I thought the post suggesting your weight stagnation may be due to allergies was a good suggestion. Sometimes an intolerance to a certain food can give you that bloated feeling. I had a similar problem, and my doctor suggested a food elimination diet. I "reset" myself with a diet free of typical allergens, then slowly…
