  • IPA's go under "SNACKS" and fit well within my diet. I dropped 71lbs from Jan-May and I did not give up my craft beer. This weekend I had Goose Island IPA and it was only 170calories per "serving". .... I had a few. I always count them as part of my overal daily goal and has worked fine. Enjoy!
  • I have been "off the grid" for 17 days. Worked out every day while in Aruba, but didn't track any intake. Had a great time and rewarded myself for my 4 month journey. Unfortunately that has put me up 11lbs!!! To much beer and dutch gouda cheese I guess..... :o\ So here I am back at it to recoup what I have lost. Today…
  • Great progress guys! I have completed week 2 of my attempt to maintain. First week I increased intake and didn't work out as much and I hit the mark - zero gain. This second week I stretched it a bit farther. Went to Pittsburgh all day Friday. Had many beers, ate "normal" and went to Pens playoff game. Then we drove from…
  • Men tend to judge less.... ;o) (no women in here, so I can get away with that talk) So I am now in "maintain" mode. I was at 228lbs last weigh in and my goal is to stay "south of 235" as my long term plan. Any time I hit that high mark, I am going to kick back into full loss gear as the past 4 months. This is my test week…
  • If that is for the Link model (bluetooth to phone), then that is a good deal. Probably dropping prices due to upcoming August release of new product. About size of a quarter and waterproof with HR capabilites.
  • Nah113, I have been on a 4 month journey with more to come. If I may, I would highly recommend not only this MyFitnessPal tool, but also getting yourself a BodyMedia Fit Link (BMF) . The two paired together give you all the tools you need. I have gone from 299lbs on Dec 29th to 228lbs this morning. If you have the drive,…
  • The bug hit me also Kevin. I was on track for a good week and estimated about a 3.5lb drop. Thursday 5am came and felt terrible. Figured I would plow through workout and maybe feel better. No such luck. Ended up coming home and spending 36 hours in bed. Through frequent trips to the bathroom, I was down 6.5lbs for the…
  • No weigh in until Friday, but I did get some good news yesterday. In doing all this good eating the past 4 months, I have dropped my cholesterol from 240 to 154! Let me steal a quote from Gov Christie of NJ - "I am the healthiest fat many you know"...
  • This is a judgement free zone...... It finally happened - I hit a wall. First week of zero loss. Some could be due to the beer qty in Pittsburgh (GO PENS) last weekend, but I thought I compensated enough with two 22,000 step days, along with dual workouts each day this week. I got "officially" weighed in at work for our…
  • Maybe it is a personal need to approach differen, or human nature, not sure. But all I know is that "cheat" anything becomes an increasingly slippery slope for me. Example - Chewed snuff from age 13-36. Tried quitting and made it 2 years. Then I figured since I had this thing licked, I could start up "just" doing it while…
  • I agree with Amisnercpa Kevin... I hit the beers hard friday night. So, the next day, i did 18,000 steps, worked out on eliptical morning and night and worked outside cutting some dead trees down. One, it allows me the balance to enjoy life, but yet reminds me that it needs to be every once in awhile, or the old Fat Ted…
  • BMF is a great tool. I love mine and with MFP it becomes simple math. Tonight i will add many beer calories, but as we all know, it is mostly water! ;o) My BMF tdee (burn) number over 24 hours is typically 3500. That is two cardio sessions. One 6am and one 6pm.
  • Awesome Kevin! My goal is alos to be fat, not obese! ;o) I am down another 3 lbs this week. So at 238.5 I now have 13.5 to go until the shift from obese to fat. Goal of 225 by May 10th so should be doable on current path. Then i go on 8 day vacation to Aruba! Six weeks to do this! Time to kick *kitten* and chew bubble…
  • I also want to hit the weights, but I am going to wait until I reach my target weight. I had another good week and owe it all to the easy math of MFP - BMF = deficit =weight loss. Down another 3.5 lbs and getting ever closer. I will admit thought that I am in a rut. A good one, but none the less a rut. I need some decent…
  • Kevin - 6'2", so that helps even things out....
  • I am catching up Kevin. I am down another 3lbs this week. Getting closer to target! Keep pushing! -Ted SW - 299 CW - 245 GW - 225/235
  • Very pleased at weigh in this morning. Balanced my food/drink intake with high amounts of activity and workout. Got down another 4.5 lbs! Feeling great with my progress. Bottom line is, if you have the tools to show burn (BMF) and intake (MFP), it is simple math that allows you to make the proper choice. Good luck all!
  • Kevin - Thanks for the good words. I am in my last night here and overall was very good. I walked from the JW Marriott to the convention center twice a day and walked the floor a great deal. No taxi's or shuttles. I logged 85,000 steps and worked out twice per day. Drank my protien/fiber shakes for breakfast and lunch and…
  • Trolling for tail on a weight/fitness management forum. Classic!
  • Another solid week with MFP and BMF. Down 4lbs and was much needed as I leave for New Orleans Saturday for a convention through Friday (Gulp!). I NEED STRENGTH due to free beers and food! - Ted SW - 299 CW - 252 GW - 225/235
  • Dale - are you using the BodyMedia Fit Link along with MyFitnessPal? If not, I would highly recommend it. It gives you ALL the tools you need to be successful. $119 to purchase on amazon. 3 months free, then around $56 a year, so 15 months for $56 subscription. The two products integrate (BMF and MFP) and let you adjust in…
  • Totally agree that some are going overboard on the "racist" card. Why can't we embrace and celebrate our differences as opposed to getting our sphincters all tightened up when a harmless question like this is asked, or stated. People of different areas, regions, ethnicity have different features. There is nothing wrong…
  • Pounds down is always good! My week of temptation is over. Being in NYC and Pittsburgh for 3 days this week was a true test. Food and beer all out in the wild, away from the comforts of my controlled food environment. Worked out 2x's per day, even when out of town three days. Controlled food very well, but not so much on…
  • Well, my week of temptation is over. Worked out 2x's per day, even when out of town three days. Controlled food very well, but not so much on the beer. Had 12 pints, mostly craft beer over mid week days. Thought I was in deep trouble this morning, but focus on proper foods and cardio had me down 3.5lbs more!! :o)
  • I can handle the eating part pretty good, but the free beer causes some temptation. Especially good craft beer. If I get a sniff of a good IPA, the calories start piling up.
  • Thanks all. In regards to weights, my intent was to do some M,W,F weight training second week in March. That way I have a good long duration prior to next trip out of town. This coming week, i am focusing on reducing carbs and sodium, but increasing calories closer to Net.
  • Do you mean follow the "Calories Remaining" as my goal and that will lead to 2lbs loss per week? That would have meant 1174 more calories on 2/14 on MFP. And when looking at BMF, had I had those extra, that would be an overall 1,000 calorie deficit. Which is 7,000 per week, or 2lbs (@3,500). Correct?
  • Majope - I appreciate the honesty. I am on no restrictions, just doing my best to do the right thing. I will use 2/14 as an example. My bodymedia fit showed a 24 hour burn of 3796 (including sleep time). My intake was 1620 so caloric deficit was 2176. Looking at the MFP numbers, I show the same intake of 1620 due to…
  • Flax is self ground along with my protein shake (in Vitamix). I drink more than a gallon a day. My sodium is always on the border, even when I make all myself. That Jenne-O stuff I did find a bit high in sodium, usually just cook my own chicken. Dressings are tough. i stay away from fat-free and focus on lighter with…
  • What you call fat pants - Expando Pants! :o) I continue to drop with the MFP and BMF tools. Not as good as previous weeks, but over last three it has been 8,5 and this week 3lbs. I have a very challenging week coming up with lots of distractions. Tuesday I leave for an overnight in NYC to attend a comedy event. Then I…
