It was day 1 today, i thought that it would be hard to only have 1 carb meal in the day but it wasn;t too bad. I feel tired but I haven't given in to any cravings so feel pretty good. I'm a little hungry but not to the point of raiding the kids biscuit barrel. I'm going to plan my next 4 days meals, lunch and breakfast is…

Wow Minnie, that's a fast time, I've never done marathon but know that that is a fab time! I'd be pleased with a sub 4hr!

I'm looking for a similar challenge this year, I'm a keen runner but injury plagued 2011 for any of my planned races, I'm looking to do a spring/early summer half or 10miler and possibly the 5k Swimathon in april. Good luck with your race plans

Hi, I just read about the harcombe diet last week and was intrigued, it goes against everything I've ever read about dieting but as my previous attempts have failed it's worth a go at something radical. It makes sense and I'm pleased that a diet acknowledges hypoglycaemia as I've struggled with low blood sugar for years…

wow what an amazing change, you look like a different person. totally inspiring

coffee, veggies, and fibre/bran cereals oh and fruit. unfortunately the list doesn't include chocolate or cider

you'll have a deficit as mfp works out your daily calorie goal with a 500cals per day deficit already. (500 cals x 7 days is a 1lb loss)

i'd say for his age and weight - go for a rear carrier, and get him a helmet too, my daughter used to get cold when sat in bike seat, so she wore a fleece all in one.
-
red pepper and sweet potato soup with chilli flakes - i find any homemade soup tastes great but i can't resist eating loads of bread with it!!

thats great news that you have someone that will motivate you to carry on and enjoy it, when you don't enjoy it then its really easy to give up. so keep up the good work I wish i could afford a personal trainer - but I can't so i make do with Jillian Michaels!
-
keep trying - everyone starts at the same place, don't run too fast and take planned walking breaks. there are plenty of training plans online - try runners world or buy a specialist womans running magazine for a free plan. sign up for a 5k race in a few months time for some motivation. good luck

Its such an achievement even for the fittest of people, determination to succeed in such a challenge is inspiring. Makes me want to up my game a bit. thanks for posting this story

how often are you planning on doing it? I bought it after xmas when it first came out but didn't complete the 6 week program. I have a half marathon in 6 weeks so I might start it on monday and do it on the days that I'm not doing a long run - I thought it was 30ish minutes though. It should help shift a few spare inches!!

I'm in again, I dropped out half way through last time due to illness and massive weight gain!! I'm from Sheffield - so a northern numptie, 169cm and weigh day is friday. desperately need to lose weight for the upcoming sheffield half marathon in may so this should keep me on track thanks ros

if you're into some tough love on the training field then check out the British Military Fitness groups, they have 2 in Sheffield, 1 at hillsborough park and 1 at endcliffe park. Its more expensive than the gym but they have great results (and the bonus is you get yelled at by fit men in uniform!) Have you tried running?…

I've been running since school but only for fun until a few years ago and then got the race bug after doing the race for life. I'm doing a half marathon in may, i've recently joined a running club and its great fun. If i didn't run i'd be massive as I like to eat a lot! Hope you're training goes well, if you need advice or…

hills are a nightmare to every runner, no matter how often you run up them! I live in a very hilly city too so can't avoid them, besides its good for different muscles to run up and down hills, takes more effort and you burn more calories! If you can do hills then you'll breeze it on race day. Good trainers are essential…

Just seen the news of the new dvd, i'm in the uk and its not available all over yet. I love jm dvd's and have been missing the 3-2-1 style of 30ds so can't wait to get this 1.

Oh yes - I love your post - potatoes are a great staple in anyones diet, just not the fried type. Can you find some good info about the rest of the baddies - rice, pasta, noodles, cous cous......
-
good luck with your training mike and rybo. i'm feeling a little left out as i'm not doing a full marathon, think i might have to sign up for a full one very soon.
-
I hope that you had a great birthday ros and well done to the southern softies

I love my Garmin forerunner 110, its a HRM and a GPS watch that tells me how far I have run, how fast, and how many calories (if i ever put the chest strap on) I have heard that Polar make good HRM's and are cheaper in the US than the UK (but most things are!)

I think i have a book that is similar - you can eat as much of a vegetable soup as you like during the first week, and you can have steak on day 4 and random things on different days. Its based on a hospital diet that helps patients that are seriously overweight lose as much weight as possible in a short period of time to…

how is everyone doing in their training? i'm managing to do a 10 miler every weekend at the moment and averaging 20-23 miles per week at the moment but am increasing by 10% each week. think i might keep training and sign up for some late summer half marathons or ten milers. I bought a new gps watch that tracks my distance…

I'm top heavy with no waist, i gain weight on my boobs first and if i lose weight it comes off my legs and my hips first. When i drop below 135lbs my boobs finally disappear but i never get a waist line. I'd love to be toned all over with some curves in the right places.
-
i'm 5' 6.5", my goal weight is between 135 and 140, I was 120 before I got pregnant 6 years ago and that was too thin for me, so I think below 140 makes me look healthier! Although if i can get into my size 12 (uk) jeans at 145 I might stop there!

I can't see your food diary but maybe you're not eating enough net calories and your body is going into starvation mode and hanging onto everything that it can. Breastfeeding does burn a lot of calories and i'm sure that i've seen other mothers post their breastfeeding as exercise. (i might be wrong) when I had my kids my…

hi marie, I too am a mum of 2, stopping myself eating the kids left overs is very had indeed! I have about 24 lbs to lose, I'm training for a half marathon in may and the last time I did it was 2 years ago and I was at least 1 stone lighter so this year might be a struggle! I'm struggling with losing weight at the moment…
-
@ashultz9 - I'm far too scared to sign up for a full marathon at the moment, but i'd quite like to do one later this year or early next year, its a massive challenge. I did my first and last half in 2009 and since then have been running mainly off-road races so this will be my first long road race in nearly 2 years! I've…

a few of my friends have tried it (flabalos in the salon's) but i can't say i've not seen a difference in their figures. (god thats *****y) They used to have a couple of power plates at my local gym and I went on them each time i'd been in the gym or gone swimming and it was harder than i thought it would be. you have a…
