  • I was 40 and 263 when I started MFP. I used Jillian Michael's workout for beginners and really loved it. She goes slowly, explains how to do moves correctly, and does a mix of upper/lower body, cardio and strength training. It taught me the basics for a lot of movements I continue to use, like squats, etc.
  • Hey, Kori, feel free to add me. I've been on MFP so long, it seems like many of my original friends have fallen off the wagon, and I like to have some support. We appear to have about the exact same goals - I started at 263 and am trying to get down to 170, although I've been stuck right at 200 FOREVER. Fellow traveler on…
  • I feel you - I have managed not to yo-yo THIS time back up to my I'm not paying attention weight of 265-270, but I am seriously stuck at the 200-205 mark and could use some active MFP friends to help keep me on track. I am piscetarian (spelling?) these days, but have been vegetarian and vegan at various times. Feel free to…
  • The two tools are used for different purposes, so it depends on what you want to measure. A HRM measures heart rate and calories burned over a specific period and activity, as opposed to relying upon MFP measures, which are inaccurate for many. You wear a HRM to see how many calories you actually (or close to actually -…
  • It really depends on how hard you are working. I am 5'6", around 200 pounds. I cannot get through a whole video without some extra breaks, but feel like I am working awfully hard. With month one I was between 350-400 on my HRM, and so far with month two I am between 450-525 depending on the day. I tend to wear out and not…
  • Sounds like you've gotten a lot of great advice, but I'll join the buy a better bra band wagon... Panache and Freya have been favs of my 36DDD's. I was buying bras at regular stores, and finally bit the bullet and spent $70 for a good bra at a specialty store--SOOOOOO worth it!
  • There's also this beast called Better'n Peanut Butter that is the same idea--de-fatted peanuts-- only in butter form. 100 calories for 2TB. I'm not a huge protein shake girl, so I like this product as I want a good ol' PBJ every once in a while. http://www.betternpeanutbutter.com/index.php
  • I am still a big girl, but when I was at my biggest, I started with Jillian Michaels for beginners, and worked my way through many of her programs. I liked that they were relatively short, combined cardio and weights, and showed modified moves for those who needed them (ME!). I went from the beginners series to Banish Fat,…
  • Turbo Jam is supposed to be dance-y. I've never done it, but I did Turbo Fire, which is little more kick boxing oriented, and loved it. Didn't lose much weight, but definitely toned up.
  • I get up about 4:45 to work out during the school year (I'm a teacher), and get nauseous if I DO eat before I work out. Multi-vitamins sometimes make me feel like you described. Did you take one before you left that morning???
  • It totally depends on your height, weight, and intensity levels. I am 5'7", 195 lbs, and have serious trouble keeping up with the second round of the actual insanity business, and I burn between 350-400 a workout.

  • This! I've gone from a 42DD to a 36G, but the girls have lost what little perkiness they possessed ;(
  • I don't know what kind of fridge situation you have at your work, but I have been making a huge salad on Sunday for a whole week's worth of lunches, and then taking in lean protein every couple days - some tuna salad with no fat mayo, an extra piece of salmon from dinner the night before, some shrimp and fajita veggies,…
  • Eat things that will let you eat in volume, then add something you like - make a huge salad and add a little chicken or tuna or salmon or something else you like so that it still tastes good--I love adding tortilla chips to my salad. You can eat a crap ton of green beans for few calories, same with many other veggies. Eat…
  • I agree with several posters that it's a combo of weight loss and diet. I had severe acid reflux that is totally gone now--as long as I eat carefully. I believe weight loss fixed much of the problem, but I start with the coughing that is the first sign of trouble with me if I eat refined carbs. I almost completely cut…
  • Feel free to friend me. I'm 41, and have been at this seriously (this time!) for about 9 months. I've lost about 60 pounds so far, hoping for 30-40 more. Good luck with your journey!
  • I am in the same boat. I just started Turbo Fire, and have been working out consistently 5-6 days a week since June 2012, slowly upping the intensity. I went from 263 to 217 pretty quickly - like almost 10 pounds a month, and then the slow down started. Since November I have only lost 6 pounds--and I did not go over daily…
