Today I broke down and had a cup of actual broth- it was the kitchen basics brand. Had sodium and potassium. I sucked it down w/ a straw to try and hide some of the taste. But within hours I felt like a new woman. My energy was back up and totally normal. Definitely recommend this over just salt water- at least for me. I…

Thanks for posting that video. A wealth of information!

I have had problems staying asleep at night also. What has helped the past few nights is that I drink a cup of water with 1/4 tsp of salt right before bed (I also drink one in the am) and take a benadryl capsule. I've had no problems since I started this routine a few days ago. Of course I'm not going to take benadryl…

Way to go! What an inspiration!! :)

Actually you don't lose as much liquid to evaporation as when you bake something in a traditional oven. Every time you open the lid to a crockpot you have to add 20 mins to your cooking time. When I bake a whole chicken in it I do not add a drop of water and it comes out beautifully every time.

I would recommend that you get some type of insulated lunch bag. You can get one that folds over like a brown paper bag. This will open up your options. If you just want to go with room temp foods you could do peanut butter & honey sandwiches, trail mixes, fruit, canned/pouched tuna...

Namaste friend! I've been practicing yoga for about 10 years now (give or take a few). So here is the deal with yoga- you meet your body where it is. Which means that you nurture your body with your practice by giving it what it needs. When you go to a class you will see some uber strong, skinny intimidating yogis and some…

I am going to start working out in the early mornings soon- so my plan is to use my cell phone alarm and put it clear across the room on my dresser. I know I'll jump right up and get it or (God forbid) my 2 year old son will hear it and then be a hellcat by bedtime... Once I'm out of bed I know I won't go back.

That would depend on your activity level and current weight. Honestly I think its easiest to just let mfp choose. Here is a tdee calculator. You could use this to help as well: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html

I steer clear of all diet pills in any disguise. My friend took phin phin in the 90s (I think thats what it was called) trying to lose weight. Her dr. prescribed it for her. It caused major cardiac problems and she finally ended up having heart surgery to try and repair some of the damage. Just not worth it when all we…

I get where you are coming from! I was a stay at home mom for a long time and recently went back to work. It was really eye opening- I never realized how much I put everyone's needs above my own consistently. It took going to work outside of the home to sort of give me a wee bit of distance and perspective.

I think we've all been where you were (at least I know I have been). I actually found myself obsessing over a whopping 33 calories yesterday! REALLY?! I had to give myself a good talking to. I try not to get obsessive but when we weigh and measure anything that crosses my lips- its tough. Good luck to you. I am sure there…

Put half away for a rainy day and then have fun with half. But by something that is purely a splurge :)

"I never hated a man enough to give him diamonds back." Zsa Zsa Gabor Go have some fun!

I totally agree with this and I am on a mission to totally weed out the majority of processed foods out of my family's diet. It is tough working full time and finding the time, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Food I have probably 75% non-processed. My own downfall is a serious artificial sweetener addiction- still…

I will usually have an ounce of almonds. Today I made my own trail mix with almonds, dried pineapple, and dark chocolate. Was yummy but higher calories so could just have a bit.

I got a nice jog stroller and it has been worth its weight in exercise gold! $200 investment has lasted me 2 years and many a mile. Its big enough that my 6 yr old still fits in it. Its called Joovy zoom.

I have been struggling in this area too. I feel like I have my diet under control, but fitness is a struggle. The problem for me is when I work out hard (like when I did p90x last summer) it almost back fires cause then I am ravenous all the time. So now I have been embracing the whole way of life change instead of "going…

Hi Julie! I am a wife, mom, and teacher too! I teach 4th grade. I do pretty well over summer, but then the stress of the school year takes over my life!!!! LOL. I am hoping this year will be a little better- I feel more in control.

You can do it! Take it one day at a time. :flowerforyou:

1. People who chew with their mouth open. 2. Loud eaters (totally grosses me out). 3. People that smoke at doors right outside of building entrances so you have to walk through their smoke whether you like it or not. 4. People that berate their children in public (or private for that matter). 5. People that think a toddler…

Just finished The Healing by Odell. It was really good. I just started The Watchers last night.

The only time I ended things with a single dad was when he kept his kid a secret from me. We dated for about 3 months, THEN he told me had a child. My whole outlook on him changed after that. It came off to me like he was ashamed of his kid. It wasn't really a conscious decision of "Oh he kept this from me, now its over."…

Ha! This used to be me- totally. I have come to a time and place in my life where everything is about balance. Mind, body, soul. Having a pot of coffee a day wasn't treating my body portion kindly. I knew that all of that caffeine was not beneficial to my heart nor my sleep cycle (throwing the mind portion ALL out of…

I've had to do a low sugar diet before and I had to cut most fruits with a few lower sugar exceptions. I could have cantaloupe, half of an apple, and berries of any type. 1 serving per day and always with some type of fat/protein as a snack. This was the pre-diabetic diet I followed to avoid gestational diabetes while…

You're right- lots of processed foods have added sugar- especially "low fat" diet foods. The way my doctor explained it is if it ends in ose (fructose, sucrose, lactose) it is metabolized in your body as a carbohydrate. Excess carbohydrates (those not used in glycogen reserves) are converted to fat tissue. The more sugar…
