  • As far as wearing black to weddings, it's really not been an issue in the last few years unless the people involved are extremely traditional (read: old fashioned). It's common to see black at any wedding I've been to in the last few years, and no one batted an eyelash at it.
  • I can't really offer any advice, but I know how you feel. I have fibro and had daily chronic headaches with more than 15 days of migraines a month for years and asked myself questions right along the lines of yours. As I moved often, I had a couple new specialists flat out ask me what I expected them to do if none of the…
  • The second is more appropriate as is, but the first would look great with a belt and shrug or shawl to cover a lil more skin and make it both boss and wedding friendly. Have fun with some colour there, too. Just my two cents ;)
  • Everyone reacts differently, but I personally get extremely irritable the day after eating gluten. Migraines, fogginess, and anxiety/depression can last a few days afterward. The irritability, though.. it's not as widely discussed but it's horrible for me. I become a real shebeast in the morning and have to meditate and…
  • I couldn't agree more with this and your previous statement. Let's make sure we call out those of us who could barely afford to attend, let alone get you a nice gift, while inflating the egos of those who got large gifts just to prove to everyone else how generous and wealthy we are. Total B/S
  • I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and say that I've never heard of it.. and I personally find it *really* tacky and rude. Wow... I wouldn't go to something like that whether I was a bridesmaid or not, but then again, I don't know anyone who would think it's a good idea to organize one, either.
  • Wish I could have gone to more, but here's my list: Nine Inch Nails (twice) Bauhaus Perfect Circle Tiesto (twice- once in Vegas for New Years) Paul van *kitten* Infected Mushroom Mindless Self Indulgence Coal Chamber Slipknot KISS Poison Ten Foot Pole Guttermouth It wasn't a concert in any sense, but I got to see Matt…
  • Yeah, I'm slow to respond, sorry. I do love to swim but have no means. We're broke as hell and my husband takes our one car to work, so memberships just aren't feasible. Even on the worst days, though, I wrestle and tickle-fight with the kids. Hang em upside-down, swing them around, all that. It can really be a workout and…
  • Hiya. I'm a stay at home mom and if reading about health and fitness made a difference, I would be sooo buff right now! I have this tab open at all times so pop in throughout the day but some days I read much more than others due to road bumps like migraines, fibro flares, and days like today where I have to force myself…
  • Yeah, I had to wonder about that one myself, free2live. I was thinking it would be with sour cream (as I make mine) or with some other substitution such as the yogurt which I'll have to try! If it has eggs and oil it might as well have mayo, though. Not saying the recipe doesn't look awesome, because it does. ;)
  • I don't have any real advice for ya, but I can commiserate and say that I have fibro along with a few other issues and am also taking the Zanaflex and Klonapin with the rest of my grab-bag... and those two can definitely take it out of you. I usually take the Zanaflex only at night before bed, but if I'm having a bad day…
  • I've always liked the runny yolk so much better than the whites.. I'm getting used to the whites, but I couldn't choke them down plain if I wanted to. Trying to eat more protein, though, so I've started making egg salad with light sour cream instead of mayo. I always have some mixed up in the fridge for snacks/breakfast…
  • When I first started exercising I spotted a few days before I was due for my period and then had half a week of nothing. It freaked me out to say the least but any changes in your cycle are completely normal. I wouldn't worry too much, but do keep an eye on it and call a doc if need be. Mine just brushed it off after she…
  • People think I'm crazy for using a heated mattress pad or blanket down here in Florida, but it really helps on the nights when the pain's at its worst. Heat alone helps me, but there's the added comfort of being toasty and snuggled down that makes me want to stay in bed regardless. Pair that with Donna's suggestion of…
  • I inherited a year old but uncomfortable pillowtop bed last year. Instead of tossing it I bought a 4 inch memory foam topper and have a heated mattress pad over that for really bad days. The foam topper was just over a hundred bucks at Walmart and I can't recommend it enough. So much cheaper than buying a new mattress set…
  • Hi all. I'm glad to see such a great group here - it's really inspiring! I had 'growing pains' throughout my childhood and was incorrectly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when I was 19. Turns out I had child onset osteoarthritis and fibro. I've also always had migraines and tension headaches - I was 15 when I got my…
  • Changes in weather really play hell with me - it makes my fibro worse *and* brings on migraines. Heat doesn't affect me, but direct sunlight does bring more migraines. Cold causes pain and stiffness. As far as the vitamins, I just have to watch out for gluten as I'm intolerant. There's not a ton I can do to avoid the…
  • I was never one to choose soda over food, but I did drink nothing but sprite and coke zeroes for a while. All I can say is go slow, keep at it, and eventually you will turn down offers of soda because of how bad and bloated they can make you feel. Start with replacing one a day with water for a while and go up from there.…
  • Cute clothes! Plus size clothing is all so.. matronly. I want to wear my old corsets again and other clothes that reflect *me*, not that I settle on because it fits. I'm also going to get a new tattoo if I lose at least 20 pounds by my birthday. Birthday present to me and great motivation.
  • already answered ;) Pro tip: don't hit reply then get distracted by kids before actually replying.

  • I'm in the same boat. I joined last week and want to be under 200 by the end of the year and hopefully sooner than that - I'm currently 243 or so. Feel free to add me.
  • I only started using MFP last week or so and have been lurking the entire time, but I have to say that you're pretty inspiring. I'm just a year older and was wearing 3x at my largest. I *love* seeing personal accomplishments like this - it really gives me hope. Thanks for sharing!
