It really depends on your goals. Some are happy with just losing weight while others want a body that is fit, athletic, muscular, low body fat, etc. If you find a good trainer he/she can help you sculpt the body you want the proper way.

You may have tight hip flexors or tight piriformis muscles.

I don't know how one can fall in love in an exclusively online realtionship. How can you be in love with someone when it's mostly reacting to fantasies and anticipation in your mind? I don't understand. For me, to be in love, all 5 senses need to be activated, preferably simultaneously!

Begin again.

Me too.

I ran 8 miles on Sunday and 5 miles this morning. I don't love running. I do it for the endurance factor and because I feel so good when I am done. But the actual running? No I don't enjoy it. It hasn't even become easier for me. Every mile takes effort. I've never experienced runner's high even once.

It was 81F when I ran this evening. Hot with very little breeze. It wasn't one of my best runs. My friend and I did 5 miles but we had to take it slower than usual, stop for water breaks often and allow ourselves little walk breaks here and there to make it to the end. Pace yourself and obey your thirst (with water!).

I ran my first 10K last weekend and finished in 63 minutes. I just listened to my body and picked up the pace when I was ready. I did a slowish first mile to get warmed up, the second mile was when my mind wanted me to quit and by the time I got to the third mile I just ran! I hadn't planned on taking any walking breaks so…

Heck, no. I've worked too hard to give up and for what? To be back where I started? No thanks.

You can do whatever you want but what you won't be able to do is control other people's reactions. Some will be positive and others not. If you're okay with that then go for it.
-
Awesome! I make my own too.

Pay attention to your form. If you are shrugging your shoulders and/or have a "turtle neck" while jogging, it could be causing you neck pain.

You burn a lot more fat with a good strength training program than endless amounts of cardio. Eat well to fit your daily carb/protein/fat intake, strength train, throw in a bit of cardio for heart health and lift weights.

To know if you strike mid foot, run in place for a minute and see how that feels. That's mid foot running. Heel striking is not considered to be optimal because it can open you up to a host of injuries. Stride is also very important. I had to learn not to extend my legs too much when I run because it was causing my knees…

It is worth being with someone who uplifts you, supports you, appreciates you, and accepts you, and for whom you can do the same. This is the type of relationship in which children thrive and become healthy adults. Whether you call this marriage or living together or a long term partnership, or anything else doesn't really…

Same here.

You can't help it? Then you'll just have to deal with the negative consequences. When you decide that you CAN help it then you will have positive consequences. It's really all up to you.

I don't like doing cardio and weights on the same day. It exhausts me and I am unable to give 100% to either activity.
-
Yep.

I agree. There is a lot more to running than just lacing up shoes and walking out the door. Just nailing proper running form is very difficult.

You can look up 5K training programs for people who are already fit and relatively fast. There are several out there. You will have a few weeks and about 3 days of running. The program should tell you how fast, how slow, what type of training to do in order to prepare. I'd start with Runner's World. Look up Jeff Galloway…

No. I think I am one of the few people who is opposed to jogging or running with a lot of weight on you. At my heaviest I was 260 pounds so I don't say this from a place of rudeness but from personal experience. If I had started jogging at that weight or even 190, i would have done major damage to my knees, ankles, lower…

You need to tell us what the "what it takes to reach your true goal" looks like. I need to get past my plateau.

I know what you mean. Most people have their vulnerabilities, sweets are yours. You can measure your sweets out, put them in a ziplock bag and toss the rest. That's your portion for the day or, you can emind yourself it is just you engaging in what has become a habit and you can unlearn it.
-
Do you mean 1200 gross or net cals?
-
How does what you did help someone who wants to drop weight? I don't understand. You're eting more but still at the same weight. Was your goal maintenance?
-
It's all about health to me. How is your blood work? I can't imagine eating that way every day could be healthy for you and your family but if you are then what does our opinion matter?
-
4 and 6.
-
No i don't eat back the extra cals. I'm quite careful to not go over no matter what the activity. I also lift and do HIIT type workouts in addition to running. I didn't initially take up running for weight loss but for fun. I just wondered if it would help move me along. So far it hasn't.

Maybe I'm running wrong? I don't go super fast but I can run a 10 minute mile for shorter distances. My longest distance, so far, has been 5 miles (and I did register a burn of 611 cals!). I'm relatively new to this acivity but plan on increasing mileage very week. I have a 10K coming up and then would like to train for a…
