  • Let yourself be sad for the decision you both have made but don't throw everything out with it. It's a hard time so acknowledge it but to find comfort in food is merely added punishment you can do without. I'm sorry you are feeling so sad. Break ups are difficult.
  • You will have to find activities you enjoy or exercise becomes a chore. There are tons of videos on youtube, from dancing to bodyweight work, to yoga, to weights. There is even the walk away the pounds series you can do at home. Go through them and find whatever appeals to you the most.
  • It's very easy to get excited about a new lifestyle and want those closest to us to be on board. I'm sure nothing you've said to her came from a place of malice. She isn't ready to make your changes so anything you say (even in the sweetest and most non-threatening way) could make her defensive. It's not you. It's not her.…
  • Week 7 is a tough week. i faltered when I did it too. But it can be done. Go forth and conquer!
  • There is no other way to take this except seriously. If you want to achieve your goals, make changes in your health, learn eating habits that make you more efficient, then you can't be half-assed about it. You can still have a lot of fun though. Sounds like your significant other is projecting onto you and trying to bring…
  • I agree with you. I also think there are crap foods like marshmallows with no nutritional value whatsoever.
  • Right. This is exactly why some people's genetic make up, or eating habits, can't handle "all things in moderation" which seems to be the general rule here. It's the exact same thing as telling an alcoholic that vodka is bad but wine is okay as long as he/she doesn't go beyond one glass. If the OP has an issue with being a…
  • Some will tell you that if it fits your macros then sure why not. Others will tell you that you need to only eat "clean foods." Yet others will tell you that there is a food/mood connection so a calorie isn't just a calorie in terms of how what you eat affects you on multiple levels. It depends on what you want to hear…
  • Try shortening your stride and work on cadence. Those two things changed it up for me dramatically. I did C25k last summer and went from a non-runner to being able to do 3.5 miles. Another thing that could be interfering is tight psoas muscles.
  • Sugar IS a carbohydrate. Fruit is nature's candy with the added benefit of having fiber which most candy does not have.
  • You will have to retrain your brain via your taste buds. I understand that it may not be possible for you to do sugar in moderation but realistically speaking, sugar is in a lot of food groups including fruits and vegetables so you will not be able to cut it out completely. Same goes for starchy carbohydrates. What you can…
  • Check out goodformrunning.com before you start. A lot more goes into running than just one step in front of the other. Enjoy your new experience!
  • Good because that is not what you want your baby to be eating right from the womb. Of course she needs to eat a bit more because she is pregnant but honestly, not that much more and not those types of food. Maybe you need to be in charge of the cooking from now on?
  • MrsL that is a big difference in calories. Glad the BM helped you catch it. Mine is also helping me assess my output/input over time. 120NLB Yes is getting more challenging to drop the last 20 something pounds. Lots more starts and stops compared to before. Things are improving albeit very slowly. I will see what hap[pens…
  • No what? The OP says he/ she drinks to an excess and eats fatty foods to an excess.
  • Nix the excessive alcohol. Cut back on the fatty foods. I don't think you have to actually take something to "detox" as much as remove the things that are adding a strain on your body.
  • I wonder what would happen if I ate according to my BodyMedia calorie assessment. I'd be changing every day but the range wouldn't be that huge. It gives me way more calories to eat for sure.
  • Thanks for explaining the "formula" to me. I don't know if it will work but when I get stuck again, I know there is something else to try. Yes I do strength train but it is not as intense of a level as many here do. I am not following any particular program as yet. I know that once I do, I will see more gains and losses,…
  • I also exercise on an empty stomach when I workout early in the morning. I don't do it for any other reason than it makes me sick to my stomach if there is food in it. You burned 1000 cals doing Zumba? What Zumba is it?!
  • Why are you feeding a grown man? You are not responsible for his stomach and/or what he chooses to put in it. Cook for the both of you, if you must, then let him take care of his extra food.
  • OP, some people are unable to digest fructose. Are you one of those people? This has nothing to do with weight loss and everything to do with your digestive system and enzymes. Ask your dietician if you are one of those people. Unless you have a correct diagnosis, you won't ever know if eating fruit is okay for your body…
  • I don't understand your method. Weight x 12? How did you come up with that?
  • Just wanted to say that my weight did end up moving down. I've lost 4 pounds since I first posted on this thread. I can't exactly pinpoint what I've done so far but it could be a combination of: Drinking an extra 2 cups of water. Sticking to a range of 100 to 110 gr. of carbs (I never was a big carb consumer anyway).…
  • You have to really want it to maintain that time. I prefer early morning to later in the day so it all boils down to personal preference. I don't know that it gets easier.
  • High calorie and high sodium. Very high sodium. I just don't enjoy that stuff anymore. Stick to chicken and guacamole? Or just eat and enjoy your evening. It's just one meal after all.
  • I work out at 5:30am and the group of people who are there at that time are all super focused and committed. They want to be there at that hour and just get the job done. It's amazing how much energy there is at that early time. I prefer it to after work gym sessions. i don't know about the more fit part. I doubt fitness…
  • Any way you look at 150 will always be better than how you feel at 225. Just do it! Worry about other stuff not this.
  • Make your own broth. I make my own chicken, beef and vegetable broth. It's not difficult and you get to control the sodium, the flavor and the content.
  • I have lost 117 lbs to date by eating what I call a clean diet. You will see that different people have their own version of clean and some will contest the use of that adjective. I had to eliminate certain food groups because of 1) food intolerance 2) desiring steady states of energy throughout the day and 3) nourishing…
