Sounds like there are two issues taking place simultaneously. 1) Keeping your son at a competitive weight for wrestling and 2) Educating your parents on what you believe is appropriate nutrition for your child. I am opposed to a 7-year old associating weight loss with participating in a sport. Perhaps find another sport…

Don't eat at 1200 cals. It is a miserable choice. I made that choice and it was the worst one possible. Stick with 1400 and stick with it for 4 to 6 weeks. Only then you can know if you are truly gaining, maintaining or losing. I'm with ya!

Phaedra2014 interested. 2014 is correct, not 2013.

I eat carbs. I am just selective from where to get them. I prefer my carbs to come from fruits and vegetables. I stick to 100gr, usually, but occasionally go over. It just depends on the day, the workout.

No you are not being mean. You just don't have that aspect of your friendship in common with those people anymore. Nothing wrong with them or you. You need to find more like-minded FB friends who post on common interests. Treasure all your friendships. You have much to learn from everyone and vice versa. Have a peaceful…

I lived in Europe for years. You don't see as many obese Europeans as you see obese Americans. 1. No drive throughs for food, banks, pharmacies. 2. People walk and use their bicycles to work as well as public transportation, which calls for more walking. 3. Taking an after dinner stroll is normal. 4. Food isn't as cheap as…

I thought "starvation mode" was a myth or inaccurate science. That's what is said here on MFP by some posters.

I increased from 1200 to 1350, lost a couple of pounds then went up to 1500 this Monday. I've gained 3.5lbs since. I don't mind. 1200 and even 1350 was too little food. I can't go through the rest of my life eating that little. Eventually I may lose the added 3.5lbs, or not. I don't know yet. All I know is that I feel much…

I think it is going to be up to you to control yourself and work on some strategies to not go over your calories.

Unfortunately, that knowledge is often accompanied with cat gifs, sarcasm, ganging up on a poster, silly phrases like "eat all the foodz" and an arrogance that is like none other. It's okay to be helpful but many feel the need to belittle at the same time. The knowledge gets lost. There are many, many helpful people here…

Excellent post. The evangelistic aspect of this forum is irritating sometimes.

I think they mean that they have a really hard time giving up that particular food or consuming it in moderation. I can relate. There is NO way I will ever be able to have "just" 1 oz of potato chips. I'm better off avoiding it completely. Is mine an addiction? No, it is lack of impulse control in front of a potato chip…

Same here. However, I consume sugar from fruit and vegetables. It isn't the sugar that is a problem for me. It's the combination of sugar + gluten + dairy, as in cupcakes, cookies, frosting, etc.

Abs are made by eating at a deficit and lifting heavy weights in the gym.

Yes. 118 pounds lost so far, another 22 to conquer.

An extra 2 tbs of Trader Joe's crunchy unsalted peanut butter.

You don't. You just make them fit in your daily calorie allowance.

1. Take a multivitamin daily. 2. Make sure you get some form of exercise every day. 3. Don't live this as a punishment. Your choices need to enhance your quality of life not imprison you. 4. Plan your meals a day ahead. Make your food and fill out your diary one day ahead so you know what you will be eating the next day…

I cannot imaging losing weight for anybody else but me. I am the one who has to live with myself for the rest of my life.

Yes increase your fiber intake. A serving of All Bran every day would do you good. If you don't eat gluten then a cup of pumpkin puree is great as well as yam with the skin on. All the leafy greens (kale, collard, mustard, spinach) also work well. Eat lentils, fruits with the skin on (apples, pears).

See? Not that hard to be tactful and avoid name-calling:flowerforyou:

I buy the Omega 3 enriched eggs to eat whole and the regular whole eggs for the whites. Works out cheaper.

I use them at my gym. Once you figure out how to balance your body, especially for the ab work, you'll love it. It's a great workout. Not easy but good.

1. There are many more variables involved when it comes to weight loss. 2. Insulting people for their "stupid" posts is not the way to make a point. It reflects badly upon you.
-
Just don't weigh yourself if you're an early riser because your dinner will still be all there! Other than that, eat at whatever time you want.
