  • The change of having a heart attack is 4 times higher for diabetics. High LDL cholesterol is associated with a much higher increased rate of heart attack and lowering LDL with statins lowers the risk of heart attacks. (Now if you questions these facts, well do whatever you want to do, your body your health, your choices).…
  • Not good. You need to go talk to your doctor. Metformin normally does not cause low glucose, something else like LADA might be the issue. You need to go talk to your doctor and figure out what the issue is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latent_autoimmune_diabetes And if your morning glucose reading is more than 100 you…
  • Open up your diet and I can have a look. Try more fiber, or some fat, like nuts or avocado, that slows my digestions and lowers my spikes. I have only been dealing with this for the last month. My A1C is similar to you for the last year. But my morning readings were 90-120, with spikes up to 140 and I could not get them…
  • OK, I am not sure what you are asking. If you want to lose weight, calories in versus calories out is the key. Log your food and exercise, run a deficit and you will lose weight. I wouldn’t go with a fixed number, like 1200, put your numbers in MFP, determine how many you should eat, what deficit you want, and adjust daily…
  • hotwire or use frequent flyer miles. Good luck, J.
  • Thnaks, got it, but too fuzzy, wil have a look at it tomorrow.

  • Interesting. Basically, and not too surprising, we just eat why more calories now, and that's why many of us are overweight. I wonder how the home cooked, versus prepared home heated, versus restaurant, percentages have changed over this time period.
  • YES, reading this, people who have been here on MFP for a while and stick with it, no problem. Once you figure out calories in and calories out, it is not that complicated, IF you can stick with honestly counting and staying within your target, anyone can lose weight and keep it off. BUT 1/3 of the US is overweight and 1/3…
  • Start a website gurudailysapple Post a lot more stuff like this and you can make a lot of money.
  • If you have internet at home, get ooma. One time fee $200, and sometimes discounted a bit. No monthly fee, and you can get a cell phone plan with lower minutes and use ooma to call from home.

  • Nov 2010. Lost 40 lb. in six months. Stopped logging in May 2011, and have fluctuated within about 5 lb. since then. Latest cholesterol and glucose are great, I too could lose another 10 lb. but will do that slowly without logging. So, yes you can lose and maintain your loss. I know where I used to get my calories from and…
  • dude, soap and water, simple as that. But unplug it first and don;t turn it on until it is dry.
  • I agree. But where do we start to change his? I am not sure.
  • Good point. But how do we do this? How do we make this an issue in schools?
  • 70% of the US is overweight, including many kids. There clearly is a problem. My kids eat breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack in school. I can make sure that they eat enough vegetables and less calories at home, but at school they can avoid whatever they want. Lowering calories at school is a good idea. And…
  • I had the same experience, lost 35lb and my cholesterol dropped way down. I was on statins for 7 years, and stopped needing it.
  • yes, right. I think we had this discussion before. I was prediabetic, lost 40lb, change my diet, still eat carbs, eliminated most red meat fats, increased fiber, fish, soy, my glucose is great and cholesterol dropped substantially. Why do you keep making up things like that carbs are bad, and saturated fat is good for you?…
  • I have a eleven year old. I can't recall how many times I have told him to turn of the light, or flush the toilet, or close the front door. Kind of similar isn't it? How many time do you have to repeat the obvious? Please listen, check older posts and stop asking stupid questions.
  • OK, I got the message of prediabetes a year ago and decided to make some changes. Here are my numbers for the last year. • My opinion, rent, looking at the housing statistics, prices are not going up. rather down in the next two years. But the who knows, your call.
  • Yes, hang in there. Just had a talk with my stepson about his "real dad". What can you say, life is not easy, but go with the flow. We will figure it out eventually, I hope.
  • bunp tomorrow, I need to go to sleep.
  • Yes, and then we had a talk about his real dad. I am the step dad. Kids, what can you say. We will get over this.
  • Instructing the 11 year old on how to load the dishwasher, take a bath, do homework, play piano, brush teeth, and go to bed in time. Great fun, I think I need a kid break.
  • Yes, I am about done too, and have been on here for 10 months. Lost 40 lb by May, close to target gained about 5 back, too much travel in the summer, so hard to keep track when you can't control what you eat. So started logging again, but intend to stop in a month or two. And yes, I don't want to keep logging forever, but…
  • But for any of you out there who thing cholesterol is a myth, Eating more cholesterol is good for you, eating more saturated fat is good for you, and carbohydrates are evil. Drink Windex, it is the magical cure for everything. Or was it catpea?
  • I am on Crestor, 10mg, since 2004, which decreased my LDL from 170 to 90. But it had no impact on HDL (which was ok) or triglycerides (which was high). Lost 35 lb in the last 8 months, which increased my HLD from 50 to 62, and decreased triglycerides from 247 to 95. So yes use statins and weight loss also helps a lot. I…
  • You guys are all misinformed. Windex is the answer. Drink a lot of Windex each day and you will have no problem with high cholesterol.
